I reckon Kavanagh will be the big slider. if he makes it to us, i will piss my pants! there is much more chance of that happening than will hoskin elliot getting to us. kavanagh is exactly what we need.

Elliot Kavanagh (187cm midfielder - Western Jets)

Kavanagh missed a fair chunk of the year through injury, but has since returned from his hamstring injury in great fashion. When he first returned, all the hype in the media was about him rocketing up the order but that has since died down a bit. It seems like if someone was to slip a bit, it would be him. No matter though as he is the complete midfielder and deserves a top 15 spot - reading the play, clean hands, speed and foot skills. AFL Comparison: Colin Sylvia-from Chris25's mock draft

Elliot Kavanagh (VIC - Mid)
Height: 187cm, Weight: 78kg, DOB: 19/05/1993
Recruited from: Western Jets
Style: David Mundy
Player comparison:
Range: 5-25
Profile: Missed the champs with injury but still a standout talent in this years draft and could still be a top 4 choice. Good all rounder. Quick mid who is also a very good ball user and has those footy smarts and cleanness. Solid ball winner. Past performances suggest that he will be a top 10 selection. Has put his injury concerns past him and is ready to go for season 2012 on an AFL list. He might slide because of his injury concerns, but personally I’d take him early, just another of those players who will go into the draft with injury concerns and come out the other end as one of the best players. - from knightmares mock draft

Elliot Kavanagh – Mid
Height: 187cm
Player comparison: Scott Pendlebury
Range: 6-12
Profile: Kavanagh is a quick midfielder who can play both inside and outside and is a big ball winner. His ball use is outstanding, he is a smart player and he is also very clean when he gets the ball. He has had injury problems in the past which could see him slide a little bit, but he is the kind of player that Brisbane wants and needs so he is a perfect fit here for me.
Why: Brisbane has developed a very good young midfield, but they are lacking someone that is all class. This man oozes class. from honanmr11's mock draft.

as you can see, he is rated by many, but has had a terrible year. likely to slide into the 10-18 range according to afl.com and would be very very good at our club. he lives in williamstown, so is a local boy.

Thanks for that, sounds the goods! Injury concerns worry me, but I guess everyone has had some sort of injury in their life!

And you USUALLY cant go wrong with a local boy!

Re: Kavanagh

Richmond are pretty keen on him from what I have heard. I expect him to slide a bit, but I doubt all the way to us. Would be a great pick.

heard that too, hopefully they go tall. they need them more then smalls. kavanagh would be golden. perfect replacement for ward.

I really don't know where I sit with Kavanagh. His injuries concern me. He's had a run of soft tissue injuries (groins and hammy's), I don't really want another Higgins that's injured every 2nd week. He would be very hard to pass up given the level of talent and our needs though.

Hayden Crozier is another one that could slip. He could be used to play in a number of positions for us.

Didn't Fantasia say we will be looking to get KPPs? Hopefully we don't just get a KPP for the sake of it with our first pick. I think we should use our first round pick on the best available and in a weakened draft look at our needs with our following picks.

I attended the draft combine a few weeks ago and after WHE's performance there's no chance he'll slide to use. Kavanagh would be a good selection but he's obviously a risk with his history of injury.

Waylen Manson for our Hill pick, pick 49 I think?

With Zephi Skinner already on our list, I don't think we'll be up for managing another player of similar circumstances.

Yeah thats probably true but who do you think has more potential?

Haven't seen Manson but have read about him. Looks a nice size but I can't really make an informed decision re: Manson vs Skinner.

Why not have both? Both are acknowledged as having great talents but some risk as to whether they'll make the transition (otherwise they'd have gone inside the top 20) so in a weak draft, why not double our chances? If one fails the other might succeed. It sounds like the upside could be very high if it did work out. Manson is 195cm and very athletic.

Brett Goodes would no doubt be called on to help settle him in if he came to the WO.

If he's still there at pick 70 he'd be worthwhile. Pick 49 would be a bit speculative but it would be a nice touch as it would be the pick we got for Josh Hill.

i think Goodes needs to lose around 3-4 kg so he can run faster, when i watched him play in vfl, he seemed to be packing on a little bit
but that's just my opinion
would be great to see him at the club

He is at the club. He helps all the Aboriginal guys settle in, helps them with anything they ened, etc.

Not sure what his role is called, but he has one at the club. Aboriginal welfare manager, maybe?

Is Fev up forward out of the question. His getting on now. It is better that we go for youth. Trade week for us was quiet this year compared to last. Does anyone have some idea of the draft hopefuls for the Bulldogs.

I know that
He is playing as a skill developer and a counselor to the aboriginal players that have come from other states to get used to living in melbourne and make sure they are not home sick that much.
but that i mean is, i would like him to be a Senior listed player, cause the two goodes brothers going against each other would be great to see.

Fev won't be drafted to bulldogs
we are aiming for getting more games into players like Jones, Grant, so they will become a skilled full forwards, and if Fev joins Bulldogs, it will be like Barry Hall, he may kick xx amount of goals but he would only be good for a year or two and the other younger players wouldn't get that much experience since we would be aiming for Fev more instead of them.

We would be aiming more for KBP to ensure that this season doesn't happen again and maybe another KFP.
Who we are looking at, i'm not too sure.

Thanks for that VitalDread. I agree. Fev would just be like Barry Hall. The right direction is getting more games into Liam Jones and Jarrad Grant into making them quality players in the forward line. Jones and Grant have potential but I think they need a break out game to really be noticed. Grant over the past couple of years when we have been in the finals has struggled in the big games. He needs I feel a bit more beef.

The chances of Manson being willing and able to live in Melbourne, let alone play football are way too small to waste a draft pick on.

yeah, but IF this draft is as shallow as they say it is, Id rather take a 10% chance on a late pick player turning into a superstar than a 20% chance of a late pick player turning into an average hack, if you know what I mean.

This guy would be a perfect rookie, but in a thin draft someone may pull the trigger in the draft. I wouldnt mind if it was us.

edit: and seriously, how fun would it be to have a firing and commited grant, dalhaus, skinner and manson in our forward line together. That would be etremely entertaining.

plus I think hsi name is zyrus. Zyrus and Zehpiniah... Thats got to be worth pcik 49 surely?
