Re: Theoretical Cooney trade

i think we have to cop the loss and play him out of the forward line and rotate as sub. BUT his next contract must be massively reduced. I dont think any team would gamble on him unless it was for a low draft pick. And we obviously wouldnt get what we would like for him.

Long kick and good kick are different things just like Josh Hunt, Over 60 metres he is good, over 30-40 he is a horrible kick and that is main reason he is has not been played this year as Hawks game plan revolves around short 20-30 metre accurate passing and he would break that chain and open them up on rebound, find some Hawks supporters and ask about his short/medium kicking they will tell you same thing. He is last player we would want.

Young's kicking is hit and miss over short distances, but that is not the reason he didn't play much this season, and certainly isn't the main reason.

Trade week is so much fun, love all the chat and rumor. But I hope we are not too active. I think our list is in fair shape. Other than some obvious possible trades, Addison, Reid, Hooper and maybe Hill, I hope we don´t do anything too drastic like trading a Lake, Gilbee or Cooney. I just don´t see the value in most trades. To get someone really good you have to give up the farm usually.

Rather we trade for players to fit needs, but draft for our future guns.

PS....I think we should keep Hill provided he want to be here.

Re: theoretical cooney trade.

Cooney himself is worth pick 5 and a pre listed 17y.o. Why are you adding Higgins and Addison for pick 50+?

I commented on the higgins thread about this but i'll reiterate....
Higgins despite everyones personal view that hes a lazy sod who needs to be traded asap, he actually made top 10 within the club for most statistics. Higgin stays.

I don't want any other teams fringe players, and I don't see the value in trading players like Gilbee away for next to nothing, it ruptures the team ethos, look at what happened when Monty was traded by Wallace.

Next year, we get more games into our kids, we get Cooney and Lake back fit and firing and we stock up on kids in the 2012 draft.

Re: Theoretical Cooney trade

People should not be agasint trading due to the fear that he will return to his best for another club....Doesn't matter if he spent the rest of his career with us, collingwood, williamstown or melbourne vicotory...his knee will NEVER fully recover and he will NEVER be the player he once was.

Serious trade talks

This thread is for serious trade talks, not trade talks that you think should happen :)

Re: Serious trade talks

Sydney: L.Gilbee, D.Addison
Bulldogs:J.White, 2nd round pick(43)

Eagles: j.hill
Bulldogs: 3rd round pick(68)

Gws: S.Reid, callan ward comp pick
Bulldogs: 1st round pick(7 or 9 or 11)

I know this from a creditable source.

Would we be better off holding onto the compo pick till next year/beyond?

Whitten oval would be torched if that was too happen.
Not even a name change back to footscray and a jumper reversal would quell the mob.

WE are going to finish around bottom 6 next year so that will be pick 2-7 in a superdraft and sam reid for pick 7 in a weak draft.

Is this creditable source credible?

I can live with that.. Would prefer we went after Seaby instead of White?

If it's pick 7 than I am happy with all of that ^

Jesse White plays a lot like Will Minson to be honest.

Re: Serious trade talks

Jesse White is a spud. I really hope we don't go after him.

The Ward compo pick should be saved for next year. Massive waste if we use it this year. Maybe if we got to a pick to get Will Hoskin-Elliot it would be fine.

Re: Serious trade talks

Not a huge fan of White, but I would be happy if we got him and second round pick for Gilbee and Addison.

Re: Serious trade talks

Hi WB board

Can anyone confirm whether Howard is yet to re-sign and if not is he seeking a trade back to SA?

Re: Serious trade talks

Have heard that he hasn't yet signed, and have heard that he might be homesick. We will be wanting something for him though, he was our first pick in the 2009 draft.

WB have expressed interest in Gunston so maybe Horward could be part of a proposed trade
