Draft, Trading & Free Agency 2012

At the start of the year it sounded like there was very few KPF.
Chris25 did comment that he expected a few KPF's to come on though.

At a guess how much of impact will mason shaw's injury effect his position come draft day?
Not as much as you are hoping i would guess. i still think he will be a top ten pick. Should be back playing again sooner than first thought. would love to get our hands on him but at this point i dont think it will happen. Still a long time to go though you never know there could be a few kpp that jump in front of him over the year.

I'm guessing the teams that might be in the market for a KPF are the dogs and brissy. The lions hopefully chase tippett.

What are people's thoughts on Claremont colts key forward Jesse Hogan (193cm)?

Hogan is a mini-draft candidate if he decides to nominate.

We desperately need to get a young key forward onto our list.
Maybe worth a crack?

Def worth a crack. I reckon he has gone well past Jack Martin now in mini draft calculations.

Has dominated in every game he has played this year as CHF, ruckman.

Is he really 193cm´s now? Still growing then!

Don't get too excited folks. Just like last year we won't have the currency to get a trade done (most likely). A pathetic club like Melbourne will be in the box seat. They will either have picks 2 and 3 in this years draft or picks 3 and 4.

And one of those will get burnt on jack viney f/s,and they'll probably use the next pick on another mid.
The bulldogs might be in the mix though, they need a KPF.

Yeah, the Bullies will have two picks in the top 10. Jones is a good KPF but doesn't kick enough goals atm.

Where's this 2 picks rubbish coming from?

The AFL ousted priority picks a month or 2 ago.

In its current form around games not won then yes the Priority Pick is gone, but AFL said they will retain the right to award a PP at their sole discretion if and when they deem fit.

I know Melbourne have activated their Scully pick for this year, I assume the Dogs have activated the one they received for Ward too.

Melbourne and the Bulldogs both have middle of first round compensation picks which they will most likely use this year. Meaning if Melbourne finished last they would have picks 1 & 2. If they finish 16th they will have picks 3 & 4. Also if they finish above GWS or GC they may have to use their first pick on Viney if GWS or GC make a bid for him.

Was wondering what the contract status is of alex silvagni i like the way he plays and with ross lyon's love affair with zac dawson i can understand if he eventually wants out. If he were available what would you guys deem a fair trade for silvagni?? I would think someone like clinton young and a second rounder

Trading Silvagni at the end of the year could be a good option for us to help us get a developed kpf or bundle it with our second round pic and get a first rounder maybe to, again, get us a kpf in the draft. Silvagni is a great defender but we have a plethora of tall defenders ATM. If faulks can show some promise in the wafl this yr and we move jack back to defense, it may work.

Mcpharlin cant play forever.
Silvagni can fill his shoes when needed.

Would be crazy to trade him unless he wants out for more opportunity.
We dont have a plethora of good tall key defenders.

We have a plethora of mid/tall players who can play as 3rd defender, but never a key defender.

There could be plenty of clubs chasing him, so we need to becareful.
Geelong for a Scarlett replacement.
Bulldogs, Hawks, Saints could all use him.

So is going to get shown the door at years end?

I reckon Walters , van berlo , Grover , Crichton , Anthony, Roberts.

Trade bait possibilities Walters , suban , robbo.

We'll probably need to cull a few to get 6 picks for the ND, includes drafting rookies onto the main list.

i read that silvagni's contract is up at the end of the year so im hoping he wants to come back to melb fingers crossed anyway. what do u guys think his worth?

At the start of the season I was thinking that it would be easy to find five or more players to delist but it is a little harder now. I think that Van Berlo and Crichton should be definite, leaving Grover to retire. Walters may be someone that they delist and re-rookie. Roberts is highly likely to be delisted from the rookie list. I also wouldn't be completely suprised if Michie was delisted. It would be harsh but this is a strong draft and he is now two years behind Pitt and Mellington. Faulks is likely to be delisted but he has started the WAFL season in good form.

I wish Anthony was out of contract this year so we could **** him off.

McPharlin and Grover are both nearing the end though. I hope we can get a few more season out of Elvis but this is probably Grover's last year.

We really can't afford to lose SNOS or plethora will quickly become dearth.

Good to see Jesse Hogan in a Freo shirt. Great size to him. 193cm and 97kg. Grecos is meant to be 195cm. Would be great to get him in the mini draft.
