Very glad to hear that mate. Really hope this kid can make it as a gun footballer. Have watched him for several years on the GC and has alot of the mechanics to be a gun.

sidebottom aint getting the pill though in praccies lets hope his tac cup game aint one game wonder

How much did the Sidebottom family pay Tom Rockliff to set up Steele's goals in the TAC GF anyway? ;)

Canadian rookie Mikle Pyke is apparently flying. He is ridiculously fit and toned upon his arrival that no physical work was needed bar the normal maintainers.

Leaving him time to work on skills which in terms of rucking he is picking up fast. A couple of skills like kicking and marking not yet up to AFL standard but are progressing faster than expected.... this lad may get a game this year.

Unlike all the other clubs' draftees who seem like the best thing since slice bread, our draftees haven't really done anything.

Yarran hasn't been too flash on the training track and came last in the time trial after the Christmas break. Not worried though because never expected him to be training track junkie. All silk though.

O'Keeffe and Tiller likewise, haven't heard much about them but they are settling in well and that's all you can really expect.

The only exception is Robinson and to a lesser extent Jeffrey Garlett. Both boys have looked quite good particularly Robinson who has fitted right in and has already go a fair bit of respect from the other lads for his fierce attacks on the ball.

Guess that helps the Yarran was Lazy Rumours before the Draft. Not saying he is but does not help them

Good to hear Robinson is doing well be interesting if he can get a game in the Blues Midfield

Some players just look laid back on the track, Yarran is one of these players. Drills and training exercises don't seem to be his forte, put a footy in front of him and he's a completely different package.

Not a strong trainer but it isn't anything to be particularly worried about from our point of view.

He'd be a real chance to debut in round 1 and play a fair few games in his debut season. One to watch for sure.

Robinson at 40 was a fricken rort.

I'm not complaining ;)

His attack on the ball and desire to compete all the time is unbelievable.

He's going flat out at training already and even his teammates have trouble comprehending how he can be so eager and energetic to put his body on the line to get the ball.

There's no reason to suggest he can't mirror his enthusiasm in H & A matches, and I can't wait to see how he embraces the transition.

He'll be a beauty.

Yeah, I was a big fan after the champs. He's a tank.

Speaking to a guy who works at Hawthorn, he says Shoenmaker's left boot is as good as Hodge's.

Only one of the draftees he rates, though.
Pretty much what I've heard, bearing in mind that a lot of the guys the Hawks drafted were 17. I've heard some nice things about Shiels, more in a "hell be fine" way than a "lock him in round 1" way though. But all the "training the house down" clichés have been reserved for guys from past drafts, Dowler and Muston in particular.

Most of the young blokes have not done a lot of training with the main group.
Zaharakis has had some groin sorness and spent a lot of time on a modified program. With a few other young midfielders from the last three or four drafts injury free and doing ok on the track he is down the pecking order a bit. Would not expect to see much of him in the seniors this year.
Hurley is doing what most expected on the track. His leadership shows out and he has been going well on the track. He has not done all the full sessions but is coming along ok. He is one player the club does expect to play plenty of games this year.
Still doubt you will see any of him. His training has been ok but he ahs a long way to go development wise.
Slattery back onto the track after christmas break and looking ok. Very fit and working well with the main group. Could be a bit of a surprise and get a few games this year.
