Goddard, Cornes, Birchall, Gram, Adcock, Raines, Fisher - Hill / Petrenko
Swan, Gibbs, Knights, Foley, Jack, Rich - Beams / Robinson
Cox, Fraser - Currie / Spencer
Pavlich, Deledio, Giansiracusa, Riewoldt, Lucas, Higgins, Ziebell - Walker / Ballantyne
Hill as a bench player? He seems a bit too expensive to have wasting cash on the bench. Possibly downgrade either him or Fisher to upgrade elsewhere.

Foley continues to play an in and under role, handballing it out to others. This is poor in a DT sense, and there is more value around his price. Morton, Daniel Jackson, Masten or Cotchin all have a higher ceiling, and will actually save you some cash.

I like your forward line, apart from Zieball. Yes, he can find the pill. Yes, he looked the goods against Carlton. But will Laidley play him?

Hill
Hes on my bench. Why? He'll play.
Cornes, Raines, Houlihan, Malceski, Goddard (likely to cop a suspension at some point) etc youd want a good fallback rookie (they are not all in my team). And personally do you see a single other rookie garenteed of a game? I dont!

Does this motley bunch float anyone's boat?

Goddard, Cornes, Birchall, Gram, Adcock, Raines, Fisher - Hill / Petrenko
Swan, Gibbs, Knights, Foley, Jack, Rich - Beams / Robinson
Cox, Fraser - Currie / Spencer
Pavlich, Deledio, Giansiracusa, Riewoldt, Lucas, Higgins, Ziebell - Walker / Ballantyne

I like your backline. I also like Hill on the pine.
As per my above comment youve got a couple of gambles having someone to backup will save a repeat of 2008.

Foley in your midfield I dont see the value, but I havent looked into Foley much.
Jack another player I dont see much value in, hes in Sydney for startes, playing a tagging sort of role from what ive seen. Pretty much a 2nd year player (he only played 2 in 07).
Rich - you know the risk, hes a rookie.

Rucks - Curries injured perhaps look at a Pyke or if you think Currie will get gametime stick with him.

Forwards : Ballantyne is injured. Many are considering him a downgrade target. I see him playing round 4-5 meaning you can jump on his round 6-7. However this is purely my opinion just keep this in mind.

Your playing a Roos Rookie. Big call, I would probably want a Yarran on the pine for backup (or any rookie your sure will play first 5-8 rounds minimum.) as you have Lucas, Higgins and a Roos rookie.

However overall not a bad side. Goodluck go with your gut!

By putting Hill on my bench I have managed to pick alot of players looking to have breakout years (likely to become keepers) with a lot less risk involved.
I am aware they are not durable so would like to hear your thoughts on this.
My backline is the only part of my team that is forever changing

IIRC, he had 27 possessions or something, but only scored 82. So he doesnt have that high a ceiling, and will probably take lots of touches to get round this 80 mark.
You reckon houlihan is a better option? Will he maintain a spot in the Carlton team?

Why do so many football players need to have sick surnames.
I saw the same thing last year.
I still love frontbums name though.

Rd1 last year.
Didnt he score something like a ton with some 150ish style preseason scores to sucker everyone in. I got burnt my the Nicoski last year, hes massively inconsistent I dont like the quality of his disposal however due to some ongoing injuries (Waters) I do still see him in our 22, unless some young blood can step in (Which I think would should they give them more of a chance)

I would expect a minimum of 4 games in the WAFL due to his crappy disposal and poor games. Last year he got more games than any oter year, due to the fact half the team was injured. He has a poor thought process and turns over the ball far to often for my liking however at times can be a good player.

Thoughts Please!!

Pretty good looking team. You have a fair few mid-range players, so if they come on your laughing. Flip-side of that - if they dont your stuck with average players and not enough trades. Id be worried about Butler, dont think he will be able to string enough games together to me useful.

ok thanks for the opinion.
Yeah i am this year targeting midrange players such as Raines, Houlihan, Myers, Malceski, Butler, Reiwolt and Higgins this year who i believe all will have considerable increases in average and price.
On Butler maybe trade for ??? Skipworth or rookie?

Course they will.
The premiums are well known by everyone.
The major good buys have been well written about and the promising rookies spoken about in length.

Most teams have just gone for different combinations of the same pool with perhaps one or two smokies of their own. Its the same here every year.

OK … I’ve done some more work on my DT and would like your opinions

Defenders:
Nathan Bock, Jason Gram, Lindsey Gilbee, Bachar Houli, Jed Adcock, Ryan Houlihan, Andrew Raines
Reserves:
Stephen Hill, Nick Suban

Midfield:
Brad Sewell, Travis Boak, Michael Rischitelli, Nathan Foley, Daniel Jackson, Hayden Skipworth
Reserves:
Daniel Rich, Andrew Cockie

Ruck:
Troy Simmonds, Brad Ottens
Reserves:
Daniel Currie, Christian Bock

Forwards:
Brent Harvey, Leon Davis, Dale Thomas, Mark Williams, Daniel Motlop, Scott Lucas, Shaun Higgins
Reserves:
Mitch Brown (WCE), Hayden Ballantyne.

I think I’m pretty much sorted with the Defenders … though might think about swapping out Bock for someone else around his price mark.
Not entirely sold on the idea of having both Jackson and Foley in the team purely because they’re both Tigers.
Also thinking about swapping out Sewell for someone else around his price mark too.

Any opinions/thoughts???

Cheers

haha half these teams look the same!

Teams are far more conservative this year.

Last year all the talk was about being unique, while this year the focus is on durability.

There's no surprise that so far this year there's been a pretty solid correlation between popularity and durability. While there are still durable picks that won't be all that popular, many are in the same price range as better options.

There's also the lack of solid rookie options. There doesn't appear to be the same depth (and backup on the bench) as last year, whereas if there was, we might be seeing people take a few more risks.

The increase in price of rookies, with the combination of a lack of promising backline rookies. Where are the Proud, Hartlett, SD Thompson, Taylor, Ibbotson and Hansen's this year?

As you can see, the list of potential backline rookies looked long on paper, but hindsight tells us another story. 2009 could be the story of the forwards, so much potential, yet so little results.

Mid Tier midfielders.

You have Hill on your field and on your bench?
Nice, i'll take 3.

Hill in your ruck? you mean hille from Essendon?

Im not likng your forwardline. Sidebottom hasnt played a nub cup game, Hentschel is massively injury prone and probably wont score higher than a rookie. Get Ziebell in your forwardline, Yarran?

your also playing 3 rookies.
7 players returning from injury (Crnes, houlihan, Raines, hasleby, Lucas, higgins, Skipworth) + hentschel on your pine. So bare in mind these risks.

Also if your playing Hill in your backline that leaves virtually no backup should one get injured or not get a game. Food for thought.

Corrected Typos, it friday and i'm waiting for the weekend mate...
