So tell me, how does players whinging on twitter about MRP and tribunal decisions improve the game in any way?

Well, it sure doesn't detract from the game in any way!

I guess though if you were clutching at straws you could say if players are offering up their opinions on decisions, then it's interesting for the supporters/public, who make the game exist?

I will wage war on the AFL if any of these players get fined.

It's not a case of wagering war on the AFL. What I am prepared to do is set up a "Player Fund" and allocate the dollars to the payment of any fines that may come out of this debacle.

P.S. Having typed that, I realise that the AFL would look to have such payments come in under the TPP.

Yes. That was a shocking decision as well. Let the players express themselves! Unless they personally attack someone or make a derogatory comments on race/religion/sex/disability, then I don't have a problem with anything they tweet.

Apparently it's completely the opposite according to the AFL. It's fine to wish violence on a fellow player but don't dare question a tribunal decision.

Don't know why he didn't get his wife to tweet for him. When Lucy Cornes had a crack at Will Minson over the Danyle Pearce incident while the case was still under AFL review Vlad described it on 5AA as "a wonderful example of the democracy we live in".

I'd love the AFLPA to organise a mass re-tweeting by every listed player and see if the AFL had the balls to fine them all.

I'm more disturbed that there are players in the AFL running around with an @ in their name ! Steele, and Dayne and Cheyne are bad enough ..... ;)

I like free speech and all that but seriously what company would allow their employees to speak foul of them in public?

The answer is none, and if any of us did that to their employer we would find our self in the dole queue the following day.

When will AFL players learn that they are just an employee and they must respect their employers wishes (as long as it is lawful) even when they don't agree with it.

The AFL has got to stop turning every player into a robot. The problem is they see any criticism as an attack on the brand. It simple isn't true.

Watch a John Worsfold press conference. It is a thing of utter beauty. He's turned stonewalling into an art form.

Sig right there, I love his weekly pressers!

It's not about whether he's right or wrong, it's about the way he did it. Surely people can make this distinction. I'd imagine the AFL would have no issue addressing his issues in house, but he decided to go the route of Twitter and leaves himself open to a fine.

He disagreed with Jack Ziebell getting suspended. 100% of the club would agree that his suspension didn't fit the crime in-house. Why does it matter if it's on Twitter?

because public criticism is pretty much by definition an attack on the brand, and if they can provide feedback internally, then what is the need to go public? Attention?

Same logic I use for how players and club officials shouldn't have a go at umpires applies here.

They're not allowed to reply, so it's a gutless move and should be banned.

If you want to argue 'free speech' or 'it's good for the game', then I hope you'd be equally supportive if an umpire comes out and says one of your players is a dirty mongrel who has to be watched constantly because he's always going for a cheap shot.

Until Umpires (etc) are allowed to reply, having a go at someone who can't reply is gutless, and the AFL does the right thing in cutting that out of the game.

He has expressly voiced dissaproval over a tribunal decision.

Last I checked you cant come out and (as a player) undermine the tribunal.

jack ziebell must also be guilty then, was quoted as being disappointed with the tribunals decision as well, add another week?

good on him - the game is absolutely ******.

What for protecting the head? How dare they, when I go to the footy I wanna see some god damn heads roll:cool:

With all of the comotion over players in contact sports linking head injuries with dabilitating long term injuries, what do you expect them to do? Sit back let players heads get hit and deal with the massive litigation that will follow in years to come?

Once you leave the ground and hit the head of a player, you are gone! plain and simple. It's the same reason players have been going for sling tackles. Plus it doesn't help when you have a record of lining players up (ala Ziebell).

What is a joke is that North decided to fight it. Did they really ever expect to win?

AFL players save themselves for the hot chicks. There should be no fat Vlad on twitter section in their contract.
Yeah better if they stick to Frankstons finest like old Milney

If they really cared about heads, they would remove all head contact regardless whether you went the ball or not. Richard Douglas put Jamie McMillan in hospital with a broken jaw last year from a bump to the head, yet what was the outcome for him? 0 weeks. It is a load of crock and you know it.

Then again I'm not the one that requires glasses to see that the initial contact was the ball and body before the head....

Has Richard Douglas done it to a few blokes over the last couple of years like Ziebell?

Plus did Douglas leave the ground? If you leave the ground and take out a head, you are GAWN!!!!!!
