could/should be determined by the rest of your side and by byes. If you cant split them, than let the byes pick for you and the rest of your side. eg: If youve got heaps of carlton players than dont pick Mclean.

I still think hes a worthy pick. I like Foley more, but PS will tell us all.

Shuey will average in excess of 90 this year, if injuries are kind.

Big Call

Hes a quality player, but hes not a massive accumulator or not know to amass big numbers, i might check his junior career, but in WAFL last year he dominated games but finished with low 20 posses. Also unsure on his tackling and marking quantities, dont think there that great.

edit: alot relies on what Kerr is doing aswell. Eagles say he is training along well.

He can get 20 possession playing mostly in the forward 50, a move in the middle should only increase this.

If you think Kerr is training well you must not be living in Perth.

All that being said be wary of Shuey.

:eek::eek::eek:

Must read different articles to me

Very last i heard on Kerr is the eagles are happy with how hes tracking along in the news not long ago.

He still has 3 months to get right and he has been doing plenty of long running/jogging during training. But he cant do quick stuff just yet. Will find out more through contacts about how he is tracking.

I watched Shuey last year for East Perth and he struggled to win massive numbers for them playing in the middle, but was still very impressive.

I can admit i dont really trust what AFL clubs say about injured high profile players.

Sean Rusling was amazing at running laps! :p

In all seriousness I just see him one setback away from giving it up.

Yeah i agree, so many injuries must be so frustrating he will never be back at his best anyway which must hurt him inside, never got to really show us what he could do IMO.

Eagles should be very cautious and aim for a round 6 return or a return after there early bye, would be a good idea.

Anyone think Trent Cotchin could go well this season, with a full preseason under his belt? Was highly ranked in the draft a few years back, and hasnt had a great run with injuries....maybe this is his year??

Thoughts? anyone know how he's getting on lately?

Playing whilst you still have glandular fever in your system will do that to you. I guess we'll have to wait and see until the NAB to see what he'll do this year, but for me we've seen what he can do at AFL level and has good job security.

Hes going to be a very good player if injury stays away, but he wont put up keeper numbers next year, but does he have to? we still arnt sure what discount he will get and i think monty has given him a fair discount. Will people pick players like Foley, Mclean Swallow who i reckon will avg 80 ish but not become keepers and not make heaps of money compared to rookies. Depends on strategy i guess.

Of the three other guys you mention Foley and McLean are known for being injury worries. Comapring Swallow and Shuey is a fair point- they are roughly the same price and I think will average similar levels (Swallow maybe even a little less than Sheuy, but we'll have to see). The difference between Shuey and the other two is that he was out due to illness, not injury (and recurring injuries at that).

Actually thinking about not picking Shuey/Gaff type players in favour of a Wellar/Lock for example.

The reason is if you've got your rookies at ~$180k they may only have ~$120k to make for you. Whereas you get rookies at sub $100k and if you pick the right ones they'll make you close to $200k.

Swallow may well be a gun, but obviously after some NAB cup analysis there's no reason why a cheaper rookie (especially from GC) shouldn't average similar.

completely agree*

*assuming that the premium rookies are 180k
*assuming the cheap rookies get games
and
*assuming the cheap rookies score as well

+1. Wellar and Lock are also in the GC leadership group, so that would also indicate they will be playing plenty of games. Can't wait to watch the NAB and see how they go. Will definitely help in eliminating the $180k rookies and mid-priced players.

m0nty has given Shuey a 40% discount which I htink is too much. If he is givent the 40% discount I will get Shuey over Gaff. They will be priced very similar and there is no doubt as to Shuey's inclusion in the side if fit. I also think Shuey will outscore Gaff by some margin.

It's interesting this year with the bye - as a player who goes from 80k to 250k may not be better than a player who goes from 180k to 300k - due to the reality that the said rookie might actually be on the field scoring for a number of rounds as well as for injury cover, not just earning cash on the sidelines.

It also depends on whether you plan on starting them in your initial 22.
