Hes probably in better nick than ever and may well play further up the ground if Gunston can hold his own and Roughy gets fit with Hale also upfront. Buddy on the wing.

Ouch, could he still be worth the risk even if he isnt named for round 1? alot of Brisbane supporters seem to think hes best 21 and important to the side as a small forward allowing Banfield to possibly play further up the ground in a Luke Power role/replacement.

I'm fairly certain you can make it work because you'll have the ability to trade out players (including a player with the C) after the initial lockouts.

Yeah it seems when you save A captain and Vice is automatically assigned so you can change it but can't leave Captain unselected.

Maybe you can choose a captain that isn't playing and select an emergency but I doubt you will be able to move the captaincy after that.

Who knows whether it will work.


Is anyone else's forward line looking like a bunch of midfielders. I think I only have 2 that are forward only

Has there been a change in the rules/working of the site that makes you think it won't work? As far as options, Goodsy up againts the Giants as first game of the year a week ahead of the other games seems a great place to put the VC tag on and see how he goes!

Im not sure if there is any changes, but if they follow the same partial lockout as they did last year, it should still be an option.

If you have Goodes then it would be silly not to take advantage of the captain loop hole. He could easily score 150+ against GWS.

Not sure the VC loophole is available this year - the captain is auto assigned to your highest valued player.

You needed to leave the (C) blank last year and then add it in later. If you accidentally made someone captain, you simply traded them out and back in again to clear it - however this year - it doesn't work as the captaincy is automatically made for you - though it can be changed, it can't be removed

There is an automatic captain selection whether it be a bench player or not for every week. It wont work.

Lets say you have Goodes VC, Zorko C. You trade Zorko (capt) out and bring in another rookie. The captain will be realigned with either the new player or the highest avg player in your team eg: Swan, Pendles, Ablett

EDIT: Well i guess your right you could keep Zorko on the field as captain. But it means having a non playing player round 1 when most teams will have 30 playing in round 1.

True, the only way to use loophole is to have a non playing player in round 1. This is not ideal and unless Goodes (or whoever) goes BANG for 150+ I think I'd rather choose another captain and have my rookie play.

Yep he only scored 111 against GC last year and that was late in the season when he started hitting his straps.

FWIW Goodes has scored 76,86,83 and 39 in his last 4 seasons of Round 1. Hardly an explosive starter.

Yeah, guess that's a risk for reward situation. I'd probably only do it if I know for certain there's no niggles in my forward line for example. And only if it's really worthwhile, such as Ablett vs GWS or Swan vs GWS.

Not correct. You keep Zorko on the ground with the C and you make sure you've got an emergency to cover Zorko.

However, it does mean to have to have at least one non-scoring player in your 30 and you'd expect most people would be aiming to pick 30 playing Rd 1. Then again Pods didn't play Rd 1.....

Not sure I can go with him as he is just too similarly named to the infamous "Relton" from richmond a few years ago...
