Mastern will improve this year IMO but i just dont think he is a good dreamteamer. Last year 1 game he got 38 disposals but only just managed to get 101. His numbers will increase this year but unless he takes more marks this year, i dont think he will be that good as a dreamteamer. That is why i am not getting mastern, but it is tempting to see that he can actually get that amount of disposals, and at some stage he might end up in my team.

thanks for the feedback. who would you suggest if not masten?

if you are looking of someone <300k then there is the obvious d. martain(but you probably already have him) so i would say Mark MCVEIGH he ave 80 and 89 in 2007 and 2008 and with a rebuilding essendon team, he should find a lot of TOG. He is priced at $268,400 which IMO is great value.
Also if you are willing to spend a bit more than $300k there is armitage who looked the goods replacing luke ball at St Kilda and could be your 6th midfield keeper at the end of the season.
Also Tom swift

I am not saying dont get Mastern cause he might get more marks than last year, who knows (no one can predict the future)

thinking about going 4 rookies in the mids to stockup on the other areas and catchup later in the season lol.

So many people getting suckered into masten :)

I agree with Mr Pig the guys needs 20+ kicks a game if he wants any chance of cracking 100 cause he doesn't get many marks

marky mark for me better value, and with prismall and stanton running around he wont get tagged, just a shame his missing round 1.

And Swift, who we already know has a much higher ceiling than Masten, scored 54 in the second half.

Looks like Scully and trengrove are stay away status. With the form they have shown during the Nab.

It appears that way. I'm starting both. They'll be playing most matches and I've seen undoubted class. Don't forget Rich's Nab last year and Palmer's the year before.

They'll pick up AFL tempo very quickly, imo. I can't say that I'm disappointed that they'll be missing from many teams.

But it looks like scully will not play the opening rounds of the season

Make no mistake he'll be playing. Bailey talks about getting as many games into our kids whenever he opens his trap. Scully and Trengove will play nearly every game this year. I thought that he may have rested them yesterday after a trip to Perth and a 6 day break, but no, true to his word he's gettting games into them. And that will continue.

If I didn't have faith I wouldn't have them in my team, let alone starting them. But I may be wrong and they may be bad choices. ;)

Just like you put games into Jack watts ;)

I don't want to derail the thread, but you said that it looks like Scully "won't be playing much early on". I assume you're basing your opinion on gut feel, or you've been advised appallingly. Comparing a mid who's turning 19 half way through the season to a skinny tall doing VCE isn't the smartest analogy I've seen.

I don't like your chances in this competition.:)

According to the boys at Footy Tragic, Connolly came out and said that he can guarrantee that Scully and Trengove will not play 22 games in 2010. I know that could still mean they play the first 21 and get rested in Round 22, but it shows the Bailey's not going to rush the boys in.

I think that the Demon's depth, especially in the midfield is actually quite good, if a bit inexperienced. If it was 2009, I would have thought barring injuries that Scully and Trengove would play 20 games, but Melbourne's midfield depth is coming along nicely.

Having said that, I'm still starting Trengove, because I reckon he has a lot of potential to play the first half year and average around 65. Anyway, I'm really interested to find out how Scully and Trengove scored in the NAB Challenge match and Wednesday can't come soon enough.

I swear every team has 25 players going to "play every game this year".

I think one of the most worthwhile exercises to help your DT, is to down and have a look at the Best 22s (go to the team boards) and the competition for spots (and depth) to get a feel for things, particularly in regards to rookies.

From http://dreamteamtalk.com/2010/02/27/nab-challenge-bombers-vs-demons/

"Trengove was disappointing didn’t do much. Though he did take a nice backing into a pack mark and ran on for an effective kick. Probs about 12-15 touches."
"Scully poor and doubt he will play much early until he gets form."

Dont know if that helps CuriousObsession

If they don't play, I'll eat my hat. My hat is largely made of plastic.
They will play.
The marketing team will push hard to make sure that they do. :thumbsu:
