Are you now going to factor in trades to upgrade the rucks or would you be happy floating between 5000 - 10000.

Are you going to factor in the trades I've saved by using my spare cash to upgrade 2 mid pricers to 2 premiums?

I've saved 500,000 which has allowed me to upgrade 2 mid priced players to 2 premiums. IMO that gets me an extra 60 - 80 points per round in total.

As per my example on the previous page if I were to have 2 premium rucks instead of Kruz and Giles I'd be getting an extra 15 - 30 points extra per round. That's an improvement of 30 - 50 points per game

This is all just imo and some food for thought

In theory good but Zac Smith averaged 72 last year and had fraser for competition. Brogan is a much more traditional Ruck than Fraser so would imagine Giles will spend less time in the middle than Smith did. Would be happy with 65 from giles personally.

IIRC he averaged closer to 80/85 during the 1st half to 3qtrs of the year. He faded terribly towards the end. I can see Giles doing the same thing. I dont plan on having Giles for the whole year though. Hoping to be able to keep Kruz

Edit: Averaged 81 up to Round 12

He's proven it throughout the whole NAB Cup. Good thing is he can go forward and kick goals. He's a good mark and with Patten out its very likely he'll spend time up forward rather than on the bench when Brogan comes in.

Just putting my thoughts out there, I'm cool for people to be different because thats what makes dream team fun, Playing different teams.

For me though Giles has not rucked against any premium rucks and that concerns me. There is a reason Maric was moved (Browne got more hit outs than Maric)

Plus people said he killed Maric but he actually lost hit outs 26 to 21 when you factor in Maric and Browne only 45% tog each.

He couldn't even beat an average ruck in the league, He will get destroyed by the top 5-6 guys.

Just my thoughts.

He killed Maric around the ground

It's not the hit outs where he hurts opposition. He gets around the ground better than most. He's nowhere near Cox but he scores similar in that he gets more points from possessions and goals rather than hit outs.

I guess Saturday will give a good indicator as to how he will go against a "good" ruck, and we dont have to finalise the rest of the rucks ( Apart from him and Mumford ) until next week.

I currently have one premium, and I think I'll bench him this week, and If he's no good I'll go a second premium ( only Mumford will be off the market ).
I'm thinking Redden next week will be good to play.

Thats actually not a bad idea!

Gah, rucks are the hardest this season.

If I'm going for the 2 premiums + Giles and Redden, then I need a Round 12 Premium Ruckman, the obvious choice being Mumford. However, I would have loved to wait until GWS play their first round to see if Giles can hold the number 2 spot before committing to a 1 or 2 premium ruckman strategy.

Having said that, I'm wary of picking Mumford in the one-premium strategy due to his tendency to get suspensions. If I pick Mumford before the game Saturday, I feel committed to the 2 premium ruckman strategy.

What other premium ruckman are there with the Round 12 bye?

I agree with you the rucks are doing my head in this season.

Why not do this?

Pick a premium ruck (whoever you fancy) and put Giles on your bench and play Redden as R2 this week. That way you can see if Giles is the real deal against a quality ruckman in Mumford. If he does complete crap, then trade Stephenson/Redden (obviously you would go Stephenson) for another premium (bar Mummy) and place them in R2 and leave Giles on the bench. Alternatively if Giles kills it, then stay with the 1 prem/Giles combo and place Giles back on the field for round 2.

I hope that makes sense?

You don't have to have a round 12 Ruckman. just means round 11 and round 13 you have no cover. One of those weeks you will have no cover anyway.

I actually hadn't thought about the strategy for the rucks - starting Giles on the bench and if he spuds it up switching out Stephenson for a premo. I was just going to start him on the field this week.

Nice idea guys.

I'm going a mid-price strategy (have seen a couple other do this too since Bailey went down) with Kreuzer and Hale as rucks 1 and 2.

Was toying with the idea of going Kreuzer and Rookie/Giles but can't see it scoring anymore than 160 as a duo on average, however I think Kreuzer and Hale will be capable of hitting 160 between them as a minimum. Helps the rest of my side dramatically with 5 fwd, 4 mid and 4 def premiums. I think it's worth it and will probably keep it that way until Bailey comes back, then ill look to upgrade Hale.

My issue with not having any Round 12 Rickmansworth is that you can then only have six Round 12 players in total before you start copping doughnuts. If you go with a 2/1/1 approach, then you can have 7 or 8 players from each bye round before copping doughnuts. Unless you use ruck dpps, which are terrible this year.

If you are not using Ruck DPP it doesn't really matter what round the rucks come from you will still cop the same amount of doughnuts in other positions anyway because your rucks are essentially a completely different entity

 Thank god I thought it was me.

With a 2/1/1/ approach
Round 11 two rucks available and playing
Round 12 three rucks available two playing 1 on the bench no help
round 13 as for round 12.

2/0/2
Round 11 two rucks available, two Playing
round 12 4 rucks available two wasted on the bench
round 13 two available two playing

Summary both systems waste two on the bench over the bye period.

Potentially you could use David Hale as a DPP but there's no one to rotate with him.

what everyones opinions on kreuzer?? atm my team is packed and i only really have hale, kreuzer, or hmac to choose... as my first ruck. with giles 2nd, and redden and big O as emergencies. hale scored amazing in nab, averaged like 100.. kreuzer scored shit.. but has potential???

Kreuzer didn't score that badly, in the game closest to what well be seeing in the reg season he scored just under 100...I'd probably go Hale if i had to choose though, purely because of the Bailey injury. I've got both, and am happy with both.
