Re: Lions DT/SC Info and Questions (***Read First Page***)

Thanks Axel.

To Liam, my 2c is to trade Pittard out of those two if you REALLY want to do a trade (there's a school of thought that you don't trade-out a playing rookie for another rookie unless they are really stinking it up). Bewick's numbers have been pretty good in DT (average~70), although his Sueprcoach figures have been poor.

What's Clay Beams job security and stamina like? The boy can rack them up but has been named on an extended bench and has been started as a substitute for your round 2 game so I'm a bit wary of him.

I'd say pretty good. He didn't show a lot in the pre season games and wasn't in our 22 come round 1 but the Power injury helped him out and he hasn't looked back. He was dominating Freo until he got injured. I think last week he was the sub because he was still sore from the injury he got last week. Should be in the 21 this week though.

Am spewing I never picked up Rockliff in my Dream Team. Thought he wasn't established enough to spend that sort of coin on him.

He's obviously proven me wrong so far.

Thankfully I took the punt with Jed! On fire for my DT.

Cheers for the response. Didn't seem to get much of it against Melbourne which was disappointing but still in my thinking for trading Foley for :thumbsu:

I hope to god somebody answers this,

Jed Adcock, any reason for his success over the past few weeks?

is he playing good enough to get tagged?

Do you reckon he can keep up his scores

Was looking to trade Broughton to Adcock, still think Broughton can get back but adcock seems like good value.

Thanks

He is a very good player who, without injury, should be able to give a great return in SC and DT, let alone to the Lions' actual team.

is he playing good enough to get tagged?

Possibly. However, I'd think that the likes of Black, Rich and Rockliff would be in line ahead of him. Likewise, as we are not winning games, teams may well be happy to let Adcock roam free in the belief that despite him playing well, that there are other ways to beat the Lions other than shutting Adcock down.

Do you reckon he can keep up his scores

Yes, as long as he doesn't get injured. When injured, Adcock tends to go for a 4-6 week stretch and doesn't have a great record of recovering well from injuries sustained during the year. If it wasn't for that, I think that just about everyone would have selected him in their teams given his starting price this year.

In SC I'd keep Broughton, even though Adcock looks very tempting. In DT it may be a different matter, given Broughton's slow start, but even so, I'd still back Broughton in over the course of the season.

The problem with selecting Adcock now, or later as the season drags on, is that if he does end up doing an injury, you've already missed some of his great scores and will have wasted a trade in order to get him, plus you'll also be paying for his early price rise as well, instead of his bargain basement starting price.

In some ways, I reckon Adcock was just one of those players you had to pick up from the beginning in order for the risk to be worth it. Mind you, I am still considering pissing of Johncock in SC for Adcock myself!

If Adcock goes through 2011 unscathed injury-wise and maintains great scoring, then he'll be a lock in 2012 for me!

Thanks for your in depth response Stocka. was an great insight.

My trade would be for DT wouldnt dare trade Broughton in SC. So your pretty much saying the only reason to not jump on Adcock is his likelihood of injury.

And im not too worried about his price rise. its bound to go up just as much this week because his 50 odd will drop out of his rolling price change. He had a good first quarter that game too scoring more than 25, but if i can remember Stephen Hill who was his opponent also ran riot. so he probably copped a spray and was more protective over the rest of the game.

Broughton's game was thought to be free'd up after the return of ibbotson and silvagni, however no change last week. I think his low scores may persist this season....

I think im going to go with adcock.

Thanks again buddy

Claye beams? Good downgrade target for someone like Savage who will be dropepd this week? Do you expect hi mto get consistent games and score well in DT? Impressive first week, poor since then.

Thanks lads

In dt who would you get:
Tom Rockliff
Dale Thomas
Alan Didak
Kade Simpson

Do you actually think Rockliff can average 110? Any chance of being used as the sub? Getting a tag?

Thanks again.

PS. Ive gone off Claye Beams, not enough cash made.

Do you actu

Very informative post there, Stocka.:p

What happened to Bewick ? Subbed off after second quarter?

Thankyou in advance.

Some reports said hammy, but it looked like a hip. Looked like he was close to continuing in the game, so at this stage I'm thinking he'll be back next week.

Do you think big Broc is a chance to keep his spot for the next few weeks? Thanks in advance.

From a post I posted on the SC board:

McCauley would be a good fourth ruck option but I wouldn't rely on his job security. He was brought in to exploit match-ups for the Saints by moving Leuenberger down forward to have two very tall talls to match up on.

I'd expect he's earnt a third game, but I'm currently expecting him to be dropped when Brown comes back or possibly earlier depending on match-ups, e.g. we wouldn't play him against Geelong with a solid ruck in Ottens and a number of good tall defenders. Having said that, I've checked out our match-ups before Brown comes back and he may be a good bet to stay in the side until then.

Definition of DT self ownage, my dad won $500 bucks for having the highest score for round 5, guess who made his team for him... At least he didn't do it while vs me in a league game, that really would have added salt to the wounds.
