I'm prepared to wait for the aims and objectives. I'm more disapointed about the way the whole thing was conducted, as the result has been quite obvious since those details have emerged.

Not if people get off their arses and buy memberships we won't. One thing I agree with Laidley on is the business of "you want to stay in Melbourne, then put up or shut up!!"

We have to look at the ordinary North fan.

Say someone on about $45,000 a year, has been a fan their whole life but it isn't their life, doesn't read internet boards, goes to say about 3-4 games a year against the other Vic clubs. All they have read over the summer is that the club is gone to the Gold Coast, why would this person buy a membership again?

Agreed, the media have conjured up this relocation of North and it unsettles many. Stay onboard Uncle Leo it wont be the same without you and all the others who feel the same way about this sensitive issue. Leaving will only bring the r word to fruition, stay we can build and beat our membership record this yr and beyond which can only benefit the club and keep us here.

Good point mate. This is exactly what people need to do. Those that don't have memberships put your hand in your pockets and buy a BLOODY MEMBERSHIP...
This is great Geoff, but everyone on here has one, or two, or three.

There's no encouragement for the more disiniterested member when it appears we're stuffed anyway.

It's a self saucing pudding, the club allows Gold Coast talk to continue, membership suffers, in two years the club packs it up and nicks off and sights 'poor membership' as the reason.

Can you not see that in their minds it is not destroying it. They get money from the AFL from taking us up there, they are looking at the Fitzroy position and are thinking we need to get up there. We are not Fitzroy, we have enough fans to be a strong viable club in Melbourne but when was the last time we tried to do this? We have been playing interstate home matches since 1998 without success.

The club will lose me and many others when (not if) they decide to move to the Gold Coast.

As for put up or shut up, I am sick to death of that argument, I put in over a thousand dollars every year to the club, how about instead of trying to get more money out of people like us, try and recruit some new fans IN MELBOURNE!!

A number of the candidates have been quoted selectively.

I am confident that regardless of who got on the board that due diligence is observed and an educated decision is made after looking at all the facts.

I'd much rather someone come out and say "oh we might be looking at 5 games on the Gold Coast for 10 years to pay our debt" than say - no way to the Gold Coast, get elected, then ship us up there first chance.

I appreciate you last point wasn't directed at me but you are preaching to the converted here with regards to how much money you throw at the club. Many here would be in the exact same boat.

---- We need a plan! That shows, we the members that we are fairdinkim about staying hear!

-------- I want people to make signs for round 1. I dont know what you will have on them, NO TO GOLD COAST

-------- If crisis hits we should have a march! Im not sure but if we take a stance then these idiots elected will have no chance.

The media wil get on top of it.

I will email 'bear', and organise for the cheer squad. Maybe we can get it on our banner for round 1!

Yes i would be.

behind the cynicism one has to believe that the emotion generated during the election will ultimately be good for the club. If one does not believe that then what the hell does one hang their hat on?
Administrators like Brayshaw see the benefit professionally in being a 'man beyond the betterment of a national competition'.

Gold Coast P. O. Box indeed.

First news item is a 'united board' - then how long before we get the 'we looked at the books and oh my god what a mess, im shocked - AFL come help us!'

I understand that but imagne had de Rauch won, changed our name back to North Melbourne and nulled the deal after 2009. and this was announced soon. How many more members would we have? I'd suggest we would easily get 25,000 and many that have not rejoined over the years.

I know plenty of people who jumped off after the name change, I think that has almost tripled since the move of games from Canberra to the Gold Coast. We chased the money with that decision whats to say the board won't take the next carrot that is dangled in front of them off 11 games up there a year?

You'd be suprised.

Royal i was talking to a guy tonight at the meeting, was saying that he has been on BF site lately but was banned last week for going on about the GC move. Straight away it hit me that it was your mate Win News.
He said that he was looking forward to getting back on the site when his ban was lifted. No doubt we are going to hear from him.

Dam guys im sorry to hear this, i dotn follow North but have a soft spot for them and this news is terrible. Its a shame such a proud club has to move, why did it get to this stage?

You know, a pro Melbourne banner would be almost as good as a club banned pro Melbourne banner.

I want spine. Time for some spine.

You have many conversations with yourself?

Sorry Uncle but the only defeatest attitude here is yours. Do you honestly believe someone could be bored enough to make the effort to get on the board of an AFL club just to destroy it?

Philosophically they have given up on fighting to stay in Melbourne or look at rescuing the business as the Doggies have proven you can.

Egotistically they will want to be part of change, part of AFL history and look at moving the club to make themselves be important.

We're ********ed.

this all sounds great but its a load of tripe... de rauche never said he was going to change the name back, and he never said he was going to call of the gold coast deal... in fact he said he fans would be happy with up to 5 or 6 games up there! and ron joseph has been quoted in the media as saying changing the name back to north would be a good idea. seriously i mustn't have logged onto this board on the day that it was revealed de rauche was the second coming... i am going to have to look for that thread.

A very sad moment in deed, but the one we saw coming.
What can we do now?

Firstly, lets see what the board members have to say now they've been elected.
After that, time to fight.

We won't give this club up easily.

I will leave my decision on 2008 membership until a more appropriate time.

I do maintain though, any move towards GC, and they will never see my money ever again.

Imagine. Look it up on an online dictionary. Not saying he would have done any of this but we would be much better off as a MELBOURNE club

F**k whinging.

Unity & Stabiltity or death.

Stay positive and start the journey....dont dismiss this board because of a few quotes prior to the election.

Good to see a big turn out there tonight, hopefully the membership line starts ticking along starting tomorrow.
