You'd be suprised.
Yes i would be.
behind the cynicism one has to believe that the emotion generated during the election will ultimately be good for the club. If one does not believe that then what the hell does one hang their hat on?

Not if people get off their arses and buy memberships we won't. One thing I agree with Laidley on is the business of "you want to stay in Melbourne, then put up or shut up!!"

This is great Geoff, but everyone on here has one, or two, or three.Good point mate. This is exactly what people need to do. Those that don't have memberships put your hand in your pockets and buy a BLOODY MEMBERSHIP...
Can you not see that in their minds it is not destroying it. They get money from the AFL from taking us up there, they are looking at the Fitzroy position and are thinking we need to get up there. We are not Fitzroy, we have enough fans to be a strong viable club in Melbourne but when was the last time we tried to do this? We have been playing interstate home matches since 1998 without success.
The club will lose me and many others when (not if) they decide to move to the Gold Coast.
As for put up or shut up, I am sick to death of that argument, I put in over a thousand dollars every year to the club, how about instead of trying to get more money out of people like us, try and recruit some new fans IN MELBOURNE!!
I'll be a member until the day they announce we are gone to the Gold Coast.

A number of the candidates have been quoted selectively.
I am confident that regardless of who got on the board that due diligence is observed and an educated decision is made after looking at all the facts.
I'd much rather someone come out and say "oh we might be looking at 5 games on the Gold Coast for 10 years to pay our debt" than say - no way to the Gold Coast, get elected, then ship us up there first chance.
I appreciate you last point wasn't directed at me but you are preaching to the converted here with regards to how much money you throw at the club. Many here would be in the exact same boat.
You'd be suprised.
You know, a pro Melbourne banner would be almost as good as a club banned pro Melbourne banner.---- We need a plan! That shows, we the members that we are fairdinkim about staying hear!
-------- I want people to make signs for round 1. I dont know what you will have on them, NO TO GOLD COAST
-------- If crisis hits we should have a march! Im not sure but if we take a stance then these idiots elected will have no chance.
The media wil get on top of it.
I will email 'bear', and organise for the cheer squad. Maybe we can get it on our banner for round 1!
You have many conversations with yourself?Royal i was talking to a guy tonight at the meeting, was saying that he has been on BF site lately but was banned last week for going on about the GC move. Straight away it hit me that it was your mate Win News.
He said that he was looking forward to getting back on the site when his ban was lifted. No doubt we are going to hear from him.
Sorry Uncle but the only defeatest attitude here is yours. Do you honestly believe someone could be bored enough to make the effort to get on the board of an AFL club just to destroy it?
I understand that but imagne had de Rauch won, changed our name back to North Melbourne and nulled the deal after 2009. and this was announced soon. How many more members would we have? I'd suggest we would easily get 25,000 and many that have not rejoined over the years.
this all sounds great but its a load of tripe... de rauche never said he was going to change the name back, and he never said he was going to call of the gold coast deal... in fact he said he fans would be happy with up to 5 or 6 games up there! and ron joseph has been quoted in the media as saying changing the name back to north would be a good idea. seriously i mustn't have logged onto this board on the day that it was revealed de rauche was the second coming... i am going to have to look for that thread.
