Bulldogs have and it is why we are so far behind them. Their success in turning their membership around should be seen as what can be achieved if you put your mind to something. The club is loyal to their supporter, ours is not.

That has to change.

Well said Tas.

Hopefully this is the first thing actioned apon by the board.

It would appear a lot of posters didn't see James Brayshaw on the news tonight.
I don't think there is too much doubt about where he sees this club in the future.

What did he say?

You must be joking, were members even allowed to ask questions?

This is what I posted in another thread about this :-

There was nothing said at the meeting by any of the candidates. John Raleigh asked a question regarding Mark Brayshaw's eligibility and they got their legal eagle up to answer. All he basically said was that the election had to go ahead and if there are any grievances they can be taken up with the club later. That is a one sentence summary of what took him 5 minutes to say. There were no other questions as basically the club were refusing to answer any.

Joseph and the Brayshaws were always going to get a lot of the votes because they are big name identities to the average supporter.

De Rauch made no promise of keeping the club a Melbourne identity, he thought it was okay by us to have 5 or 6 home games on the GC. If we have 5 or 6 home games on the GC it is only a matter of time until we perish.

That a number of the candidates didn't write off the Gold Coast completely sends a meesage that at the very least we must explore the option be it one game, 2 or 3 or more

No one likes it.

However one would hope these guys are a bit more educated about the clubs plight than your 'rank and file' members so any decision is based on the number in front of them

I'm not defending the decision, merely stating a fact

That isn't the point for us. I'm sure they do love the club and i'm sure they feel going to the Gold Coast is the best thing for the club. Hell it very well could be a bonanza with the AFL throwing millions of dollars our way but how does that help the average fan who likes going along to the games?

OK fair enough. My feeling is that you could have really hit the issue bang on. what is best for the club, might not be the best thing for the melbourne supporter.

Once 75% of Vic supporters have dropped off it will hit home at the AFL house that it was a mistake.

But by then they would have already handed our club to the pokie playing old farts, on the platter.

How is it best for the club to lose its soul and die for some quick AFL cash. Make no mistake - AFL cash, not Gold Coast cash, as there are no sustainable money there with a ground that may hold 20k in 5 years time.

Aren't supporters the real reason the game is played?

Finals on the Gold Coast.

75, 77, 96, 99 cups on display on Surfers.

"we shout god bless our native land, the Gold Coast, the Gold Coast."

You never get the club back the moment this happens. When it falls over it dies.

Yes i would be.

behind the cynicism one has to believe that the emotion generated during the election will ultimately be good for the club. If one does not believe that then what the hell does one hang their hat on?

im with you star, lets see what happens theres still a game on sunday so get down there and enjoy the game instead of thinking the worst all the time.

as for the fickle members yep this one time i think we all support jyds game pln : if you want the club to survive get a membership now"

Spot. On.

True, the club might be financially better off. But like the South Melbourne Football Club and Fitzroy Football Club after it i would say over 60 or 70 % are not members in Melbourne and a small amount still go to the 5 or 6 games a yr in Melbourne. There is no doubt in my mind Victoria the heartland of Australian Rules (due to population) has weakened since they left and will weaken again when & if more teams go. The AFL say record amount of people go to AFL games since it changed from VFL to AFL but theres more games and more teams
I am North supporter in Victoria where most of our members r why would i need to support the team when they r hardly ever here. If it does come to relocation i am not sure what i personally would do but North Melbourne will surely be dead.

To my mind there is no difference. Melbourne is inseparable part of the club. Selfish? Possibly, but clubs are more about physical location than some people like to think...

Gents, My grandfather was a B&F and leading goalkicker at the roos and was nominated for the team of the century
So i am by no means 'trolling' (I'm a Collingwood supporter as my father played for the maggies)
As much as you can have one nth are my second team.

But from an outsiders point of view, this isn't the worst thing that could happen to the roos, (need i mention Fitzroy)
Melbourne is just not big enough for 9 teams, The roos just dont have the financial muscle needed to survive, if a deal could be struck to get 7,8,9, games in Melbourne then you still get to watch your team as many times as you would this season anyway, and the club is viable for the next 15 years gaurenteed.

I just hope we can get some competent people on board making the policies which at least gives a chance to survive here. I think all the supporters would accept a relocation instead of death but only as a last resort, in my mind the club hasn't even come close to exhausting all options here and has not really put the time or money towards maximising our membership and profile in Melbourne. Bulldogs have and it is why we are so far behind them. Their success in turning their membership around should be seen as what can be achieved if you put your mind to something. Their club is loyal to their supporter, ours is not.

My sentiments exactly Tas. Would prefer relocation to death but it looks like it's edging closer by the day..leave the rank and file members with crumbs of info until it's too late and it's a done deal anyway.

That will be the frustrating part, the perception that we were a lost cause when in reality we had every chance and just ********ed it up over and over again. Bottom line - if the Bullies can do it why not us?

I hope the lack of replies by the people at the AGM mean they are still there, letting their feelings be known to the new leaders of the footy club.

Royal i was talking to a guy tonight at the meeting, was saying that he has been on BF site lately but was banned last week for going on about the GC move. Straight away it hit me that it was your mate Win News.
He said that he was looking forward to getting back on the site when his ban was lifted. No doubt we are going to hear from him.

If that peanut still hasn't worked out that he was banned for challenging fights, he won't last long in his second visit.

Really, this is undeniable.

Their is no market up their. Its an NRL state that we would be lucky to get anything out of. More chance in Melbourne IMO

Not really, only with fellow members that turned up to the election meeting.
May i say that there could be a little egg on your face?
If you are going to give it be prepared to to take it!

Here's a tip... show some class. Don't gloat. Schadenfreude is the ugliest human trait.

It doesn't appear that the Joseph/Brayshaw/Brayshaw ticket had a lot of support from BF posters. I didn't vote for them. However they are now meant to represent us, the average member. I will be interested to see how they go about finding out what the average member wants and represent that view at board level. Will they be giving us email addresses or phone numbers so we can pass on our thoughts?

from an outsiders point of view, this isn't the worst thing that could happen to the roos,
unfortunately that's just it. We have lots of outsiders wisely opining that we are better off going to the Gold Coast and leaving Melbourne for them. Stop a second and imagine your own team relocating to the other side of the country.

Then imagine how welcome another club's supporter would be telling you that 'actually, it isn't the worst thing that could happen to your club'
