Retiring Dustin Martin tells Richmunt to GAGF

So just for the record...is it better to sack your coach, or for your coach to tell you to GAGF?
It's better for coaches to depart of their own volition/mutual agreement for other clubs or retirement from head coaching.

It's why Geelong has been stable for so long.

Sacking coaches is a sign of poor club management and culture.

But when a coach says they're "s" from coaching only to pop up at another club a short time later and then starts poaching your players.....bit different you think?

"Hardwick’s services are sure to be coveted by a number of AFL clubs, but he said he had no plans to return to the game in the foreseeable future."

Apparently he can't see 3 months down the road :$

If Geelong's culture is so good compared to Richmond's over the longer term...why have you only won 4 flags in the last 60 years where Richmond have won 8? Why have Carlton also won 8 in that time, sacking coaches galore along the way?

I guess it makes some sort of sense to a Cats supporter that poor culture somehow wins more flags than good culture. Chris Scott should have reminded his players of their club's great culture in the 3 finals Richmond humiliated them in during recent years. What a shocking omission from the smartest man in the room.

Because the modern game is a lot different to the "zone era" where the VFL was an amateur organisation and corruption was rife.

Also, flags are hard to win.

How many flags have Carlton won in the modern era? 1 and they cheated to get it.

Richmond lucked out with 3 but were ready to sack Hardwick almost right up until the 2017 finals series.

Geelong's great culture means they were successful before Richmond got out of its hollow and remains successful while Richmond plummet into what should be a relegation zone.

Yep, was just a run of luck that saw us smash Cats 37.35 v 21.30 on our way to collecting 3 of those lovely shiny cups to make it 13 since entering the competition. To Geelong's 10. Cats were just unlucky to have only averaged scoring 7 goals in those games, bloody stiff. 🤣

My favourite bit was how we let you think you were in each game at half time.

Nek minnit Cats 7.13 v Tigers 27.21 after half time. Tigers just lucked out to do that with such a poor culture against the unlucky Cats with their enviable loser culture. 🤣

It's a bitter pill for them to swallow knowing we owned them in the finals. Poor putties... :$

I'm glad you've got these memories to keep you warm at night.

Meanwhile we're waiting to find out who we'll play next week :)

It takes an awful lot of effort to pretend you don't care about something like that. But nobody pretends they don't care better than Cats supporters. 😁
It doesn't really - plenty of clubs think they have a rivalry with Geelong.

In the meantime we've turned over half our list, won a flag and are in the final 4 for another one.

What have you guys done since 2020? 🤔

Set ourselves up for the greatest draft raid by an established team seen in the history of the competition. Just so we can do it to you all over again. :)

Gee they turn on their own quickly. Richmond's first lady Caro has had a gutful of selfish Dustie!

Is she going to arrow all the other players that have told Richmond to GAGF in the last year too? Why single out a champion who’s clearly checked out for a good reason?

watching all your best Players deserting a sinking (actually fully sunk) ship is not what anyone would call great list management, ask Norf how a full rebuild feels

9 of 10 of Richmonds most recent rebuilds yielded nothing. Don’t go thinking all of a sudden things have changed.

Sample 1. 9 out of 10 of Richmond's most recent rebuilds were attempted with a massively underfunded recruiting department & football department.

Sample 2. The 1 out of 10 that was successful came about when Richmond's recruiting and footy department expenditure matched other clubs. This rebuild yielded a dynasty triple Premiership team.

Have a casual guess which of the 2 samples the curent recruiting and footy department structure belongs to?
