Just in the interest of historical accuracy and a bit of a pub style debate, the norm smith has been around since 1979, goals have been kicked since 1897. So not exactly like for like. There's plenty of great players like KB and Lethal that won multiple flags in years before the Norm Smith was awarded. Percy Beames supposedly was BOG three GFs in a row.

I don't think a triple winner is unlikely in the future. There's been a fairly high number of dual winners given the award is relatively new, so a third isn't a huge leap. Though even being a triple premiership player is rare now, so i really think it takes a team that is consistently great across the board, with one star player better than the rest. Daicos from Collingwood probably fits the bill but he didn't get it last year.

Anyway, i too love Dusty winning all three. I just think it's very possible we see that happen again.
The odds are a lot harder the more teams in the comp and equalisation.

Don’t get many chances in a Gf and he took every last MF one of them…

Blows away the myth that Jordan McMahon winning goal meant we would get Dusty because Melbourne picked the player we wanted.
If he missed, we still would have selected Dusty at pick 1
There was an article many many years ago that was talking about the 2009 draft. It said that our plan if we lost that game and got the priority pick was to take Dusty at 1 and Rohan at 2.

You could use approximate mathematical odds … the very best players in the Brownlow are voted BOG 15-20% of games. Of modern day Bont on 20.6% the highest I could find.

So if you assumed those same odds carried over into a GF, then odds of 3 x NS in 3 x GF’s are : 0.2 x 0.2 x 0.2. So on very basic maths, just under a 1% chance for the VERY BEST players in the competition.

Obviously if they played in more than 3 x GF’s, the odds would increase (I can’t remember Year-12 maths well enough to remember how to calculate if they play in 4, 5 etc…).

But if we focus on 3 x GF’s. We could expect that for every one of the VERY BEST AND MOST ELITE players in the competition, they’d be less than a 1% chance of winning 3 x NS medals if they appeared in 3 x GF’s. And majority of the most elite players won’t get to play in 3 x GF’s. Danger has played in 2. Fyfe 1. Neale 1. Bont 2.

In other words … I’m not sure we will see 3 x NS’s in our lifetime again. And we almost certainly won’t see 3 x GA awards and 3 x NS’s. That’s why Martin’s name will live in football folklore whilst many others of today’s era won’t. Oppo supporters will deny it and won’t like it, but that’s what’ll happen. It’s why Skilton, Bunton, Stewart and Reynolds names are etched in history, whilst other superstars of previous era’s who may have been just as good barely rate a mention.

Remember when KB said he should be sacked and Jon Ralph said he should be sacked for 16 games over chopstick gate
And C9 actually said on their 6pm news that night that Dusty could be charged with attempted murder.

Who knows what would've happened if a couple of fans didn't say that the lady was bullshitting out of her arse.

they are even harder now in the stand rule cfl cheating era

whoever the cfl wants to win the flag will, colonwood last year , carltoon this year

the umpire are now able to cheat more than ever for desired outcomes

interesting that Hardwick made a number of appearances in that doco. He is currently head coach of another team after all. Hopefully it’s not to soften the blow of a reunification.

The article on afl website today is also excellent if you watch all the linked content along with it.

It’s been so enjoyable watching dusty play. What a weapon he’s been.

The AFL wishes to congratulate Richmond's Dustin Martin ahead of his 300th AFL game this round.

The triple-premiership player and three-time Norm Smith medallist is set to become the 104th person to reach 300 VFL/AFL games.

Martin, the 2017 Brownlow Medallist, was drafted from the Bendigo Pioneers with the third pick in the 2009 AFL National Draft and went on to debut the following season in Round One against Carlton.

In 2017, Martin was part of the Richmond premiership team and claimed the Brownlow Medal, Norm Smith Medal, AFL Players Association MVP (Leigh Matthews Trophy), AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year, Best Finals Player (Gary Ayres Award) and was named in the All Australian team.

The AFL's Historian has compiled a list of Martin's career achievements:

Martin is set to become the 104th person to play 300 career games in the VFL/AFL and the seventh Richmond player to reach 300 games.

When he debuted in 2010, there were 62 players who had reached the milestone.

- Three time premiership player (2017, 2019, 2020).

- Three time Norm Smith medallist (2017, 2019, 2020) – the only player to win the award three times.

- 2017 Brownlow medallist. His 36 votes that year is the current record (shared with Oliver Wines) for the most votes in a season under the 3-2-1 voting system.

- 2017 AFL Players Association MVP (Leigh Matthews Trophy).

- 2017 AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year.

- Four-time All-Australian (2016, 2017, 2019, 2020). Martin also made the All-Australian squad on four additional occasions.

- Three-time winner of the Gary Ayres Award for the best player in finals (2017, 2019, 2020). He is the only player to have won the award multiple times.

- Two-time club best and fairest (2016 & 2017) and a further seven podium finishes (four times in second and three times in third)

- Martin received a Rising Star nomination in Round 10 in 2010 – his 10th game and the first win of his career.

- He kicked 32 goals in the 2017 home and away season, which is the most by a player in a Brownlow medal year since Tony Lockett in 1987 (117 goals).

- Martin is set to become the third person to play 300 games and also win a Brownlow, a Norm Smith Medal and be part of a VFL/AFL premiership, joining Jimmy Bartel and Simon Black.

- He has played 278 games under Damien Hardwick, which is the sixth-most by any coach and player combination. It is the most by a coach and player who made their debut in the same match (Round One, 2010).

- Martin has had at least 10 disposals in each of his first 249 career games, which is the longest streak from debut by any player. No other player has made it to more than 189 games without having a game with under 10 disposals.

- He is the only player to poll a perfect 10 AFL Coaches Association Votes eight times in one season (2017).

- In all three of Richmond's premierships, Martin had more than 20 disposals and at least two goals. He also had more than 20 disposals and at least two goals in the Preliminary Finals in those three years.

- Martin has missed 34 games on his way to 300. He had only missed three games by the time he reached his 100th match and five at the time of playing his 200th.

- He is the only player on record since game-by-game votes are published to have polled Brownlow votes in eight consecutive games against the same opponent (Essendon 2016-2021 – 4x three votes, 2x two votes and 2x one votes).

- Martin is set to become the seventh Richmond player to reach 300 games, joining Jack Dyer, Kevin Bartlett, Francis Bourke, Jack Riewoldt, Shane Edwards and Trent Cotchin. Hawthorn are the only club that has had more people play 300 games for the club with eight. The Western Bulldogs are the only other side with seven 300 gamers.

- Martin is set to become the 72nd player to reach 300 games as a one club player.

- It will have taken him 14 years and 82 days to reach 300 games, which would make him the 43rd quickest of the 104.

I liked it, it was a bit short, but I liked it!

After watching it I believe that Dustin didn't want to win anymore Brownlows after 2017, this also makes sense when you consider how many people on BigFooty have accused Dustin of coasting through the H&A seasons after 2017.
