Given we have already made the ICC World Championship & needing to turnover our team over the next couple of years... we should be using it as an opportunity to try new players.
We should absolutely be giving Murphy more opportunities, given we may need him to takeover Lyon soon, so imo should get at least 1 test.
Also, Konstas not Khawaja is the future, so should play at least 1 test to appreciate subcontinent conditions.
I hope you're right.Nowhere close to the benefit of actual game time. I am making the call here and now, Kontas is a good player of spin, probably second to only Smith on this tour. He uses his feet and the crease, plays with soft hands and wont be overawed by dust bowls, unlike some in this batting squad
I see Richardson has hit the sick bay again.
It’s an elective surgery yes I do think we will see him again not for the wtcSurgery on the shoulder that popped when he hi fived would you believe. That was about a month ago me thinks. So there goes any chance of a comeback this year in any format. Perhaps be back in time for WTC final but will he even be selected for that?
I think there's a conscious effort to develop his bowling. At the moment he's very part time, but he's young enough and bowling left arm orthodox is a huge +. Developing that into something useful, even as a batting all-rounder, would be a big benefit. Though, overall, I think it's clear batting is, and always will be, his main role in any teamMight be Connolly's job now but he is probably more of a part timer like Head, atleast he brings something different to Lyon (and Murphy in future)
I would imagine it's simple enough to buy them at the ground.Still considering going along to this. Wondering if anyone knows whether it's simple enough to buy tickets at the ground, or do you have to buy them in advance?
I'm going to the 2nd test..Yeah, apparently it's straight forward to buy tickets at the ground on the day or 1-2 days earlier...There's no issues not being able to get one as test matches aren't that popular & only pull small crowds...They also may be available to purchase online through Cricket Sri Lanka about a week before.Still considering going along to this. I'll let you know how I get on Yabsy. I'm going to the first Test definitely and probably the first 3 days of the second.I'm going to the 2nd test..Yeah, apparently it's straight forward to buy tickets at the ground on the day or 1-2 days earlier...There's no issues not being able to get one as test matches aren't that popular & only pull small crowds...They also may be available to purchase online through Cricket Sri Lanka about a week before.

I'll put up a post here with as much info as I can.
It'll be interesting to see the internet prices vs the "At the door" prices.
I went to a test in Kandy a few years ago. Just turn up to the ground.Still considering going along to this. Wondering if anyone knows whether it's simple enough to buy tickets at the ground, or do you have to buy them in advance?
Yep, Galle is no different and is one of the greatest grounds in the world to watch cricket at. Surrounded by the Old Fort covered with grass it’s magnificent.I went to a test in Kandy a few years ago. Just turn up to the ground.
ffsJoel Wilson continuing to haunt us! He is umpiring this series as well
Beautiful part of the world, full stop. Some nice gentle waves along that coast at this time of year. And brilliant seafood.Yep, Galle is no different and is one of the greatest grounds in the world to watch cricket at. Surrounded by the Old Fort covered with grass it’s magnificent.
Absolutely one of my favourite countries. People are friendly, dirt cheap safari, landscape and food are incredible. One of the best sporting experiences I’ve had.Beautiful part of the world, full stop. Some nice gentle waves along that coast at this time of year. And brilliant seafood.
Maybe it's to do with past wars, but I always wonder why it's not more on the map as a tourist destination - stunningly beautiful island with something for everyone from the surf to the safaris to the hills and tea estates to the ancient cultural places.Absolutely one of my favourite countries. The more accessible options (Bali, Singapore, Thailand, etc) makes it difficult to justify going there for many, particularly families. It’s not really somewhere you “pass through” either. The old marketing on Channel 9, even led by Tony who loved the place was just a few plane shots. SL tourism could do a lot worse than tap into the Australian market using cricket as a vehicle. I’d be more than happy for the government and even Fox to subsidise some of the advertising cost, just an incredible place. If there was some resultant demand for it I’ve always thought a flight Perth to Colombo then onto Maldives would be commercially viable.Maybe it's to do with past wars, but I always wonder why it's not more on the map as a tourist destination - stunningly beautiful island with something for everyone from the surf to the safaris to the hills and tea estates to the ancient cultural places.
Good point. I was living in South East Asia when I went on a few family holidays there. So flight was short and cheap. The more accessible options (Bali, Singapore, Thailand, etc) makes it difficult to justify going there for many, particularly families. I might have to go check it out on a future tour. My wife refuses to go back to India, but I can probably sell her on beaches, seafood and more safaris.Absolutely one of my favourite countries.
