Now Kuhnemann is a starter, three tweakers if it is a dust bowl. Starc with acceptable medium pacers from Webster will cover the pace. No dust bowl, then two pace two spin with help from Trav, Smudge or Marnus. Also changing that late batting order with Murphy after Starc.

Galle dust bowl incoming. No word if we have been given a red ball warm up before First Test either.

Why do people think Smith or Labuschagne are going to bowl spin ahead of Webster?

And why do people use nicknames as though they know the person?

Oh surprise surprise 747 having a go at inglis even though he hasn't even been picked ??

funny that you don't mention Inglis averaging over 70 in the shield this year ...and was picked as the reserve batter for the test squad against the Indians

Its a credit to inglis regardless if he gets picked or not that he is being discussed as a legitimate option for a batting position let alone that of a wicket keeper bat

Good for him, and agree.

Don't agree with dropping (because that it is what it is) Konstas at this stage, for a series that doesn't count to the WTC.

He was, played spin like he had feet in cement. Ussie realised he needed to improve his spin play if further sub cont. selection. The turn round began in Sri Lanka in '22, then went up another notch in India '23 where he was the top run scorer from both nations.

Good to see the spin specialist's averaged in the 20's while Khawaja warmed the bench.

What lead up is that. Not seen a red ball warm up listed. Needs to be thats for sure, not only for Konstas but all our top 6 as training on spin decks in UAE is a poor substitute for a game.
I agree with you. Real shame that the schedule is too busy for first class games on tours like this. But in terms of what the selectors have to go on, I'd rate performance whilst training on spinning decks in Dubai and Galle nets as a better indicator of likelihood to succeed in Galle than playing paceman on seaming decks in Australia is.

So I won't have an issue whatever way they go with Konstas - and Webster for that matter.

Yeh. Who wants discussion forums to be formal.

Not sure Abe Bell is making most of his chance here. He's been well under his usual wicket taking form plus is leaking runs.
I don't like that we often call them just by their surname. It should be Mr. Labuschagne.

What’s wrong with using an icname

Nicknames are for your mates. You're not mates. Most of the people who want to use their nickname in one post will bag them in their next.

I don't expect my little pet peeve will change anything, but it's always jarring to me.

He’s 19 and potentially being left out in a horses for courses selection. He’ll be back in the team in no time, including getting experience in the West Indies. It’s really not the end of the world.
It would seem like it to him.

Debut him against Bumrah and Co.
He averaged more than Labs and Khawaja but let's drop him for "a horses for courses" policy.

Utter madness if they do.

He's got to stay in the side going forward.

Not if he's not ready for Asian pitches. Got to set him up to succeed rather than fail.
He’s going to need to get up to speed one way or another, as we tour India in a couple of years. He plays the first test at least for mine, as this is as close to a free hit as he’ll ever get in Asian conditions.

The same applies for Connolly, Webster and Inglis.

Whichever way we go, 2 or 3 bats with limited experience will get some test match experience in Asian conditions.
