I see Betts more as a crow.

Unsure whether it's my Melbourne bias but I see Jeff Farmer more a Dee than a Docker and I'm pretty sure he considers himself the same even though he played 118 with Melb and 131 with Freo
I agree with that, would have loved Melbourne's Jeff Farmer at freo. Wasn't quite as damaging for us as he was for Melbourne. Freak though! Love the Wiz.

The other interesting one is Dangerfield. In one season at Geelong he did everything humanly possible for an individual. If he retired tomorrow people* would remember him as a Cat

* the people of Geelong

Ironic in that Adelaide supporters will only remember him as a DOG.

I think it's just that now he is in Victoria, people are starting to notice

If true, that's sad, very sad. When Ablett left Geelong supporters were disappointed but few wrote him off as a dog or traitor.

Nah, I dont really think most supporters think like that. Just a few of us hardcore nutjobs.

I think most Cats fans understood Gazs position. I Dont think as many Crows supporters were as understanding.

He didnt do it very well in my opinion.

Could retire tomorrow and it would be the crows such has been his impact

judd, ablett, franklin all achieved everything possible at their clubs before moving on. if you've delivered real success then you can't hold a grudge.

but jumping ship before that can leave supporters feeling pretty unforgiving

Betts played his best footy for Adelaide so naturally he will be remembered for that.

What I don't get however is now he is viewed as such a revered figure who neutrals seem to love, yet at Carlton he was a tool who wore baggy shorts. The flip in public perception over him is unprecedented, even though he hasn't changed the way he plays at all he is just now more consistent.

That's easy to answer mate.... No one likes Carlton obviously

Which highlights the point he was making. Players are rated more at less hated or neutral clubs.

I think it has to do with the success and standing of the club you go to. Betts will clearly be remembered as a Crow.
In time Judd will be remembered as an Eagle because when he was at Carlton they were just a bottom, nothing club.
Ablett will be remembered as Geelong, someone like Buddy and Lockett as both.

Yeah I still loved him at Freo even though he did break our hearts once or maybe twice??

Got a quote or is this more a 'vibe' thing?
Just got this photo...

Wiz.jpg

A bloke I used to work with was mates with the Wiz's fiance and regularly catches up with them.
Has said he considers himself a Demon.
He sent this to me one day a couple of years ago.

He didnt do it very well in my opinion.
I'm one Crow fan that disagrees with this. Here are my reasons for this;
1. The controversy did not affect his final year for us. He gave his best and won our B&F.
2. His reasons for leaving were valid, I don't think anyone can argue with that.
3. He told the club of his decision 2 weeks before the finals which gave the club ample time to start negotiations with Geelong before the trade period.
Some Crows fans lump PD in the same bracket as Tippet. I think that's quite unfair.
Tiprat was a dog. He hadn't even told the AFC his intentions 2 days into the trade period. AFC had to force him to make a decision.
Compared to Tiprat he handled his departure very well IMO.

Eddie was always that good. He just has a better side around him. Always a freak but it is noticed more in a 2 team town.

I said this when he came over.

Kicking 40-50 goals a season in Carlton's forward line was an issue every year, whether that was the presence of fevola, or after he left the lack of other forward options, there was always something against Eddie.

I laughed when people were up in arms at spending $500k a year on him.

Looking like one of the best contracts in the league right now!
