We're back in town, what a huge win yesterday against one of the supposed finals contenders. The last month of footy proven how good we can be so well done boys and what a hugev last quarter. Go Oaks!!!!!

what is everyone's thoughts on the umpires at this time?

Umpires are umpires treat them for what they are worth. Plenty of people bitch and moan about them but l have never seen an umpire turn over his his or her decision and say l was "wrong" my life.
It's local footy and it's hard enough to get people to umpire as it is, not everyone is perfect.
On the other hand, some individuals became umpires because they couldn't play the game or they picked on in the school yard and this is there way of getting back at society and have some power for 2 hours on a Saturday.
Not sure what the pay rate is, anyone know?
If l was the head of that department, l would target ex local footballers that have the knowledge of the game and a great understanding of football. Pay top dollar to get top results.
They are my thoughts.

So by newspapers reports Aker struggled to get a kick on the weekend for Aberfeldie?

harder for a club in the edfl to make their money back as we dont have gate entry to make the clubs money

Yeah, recon they struggled Saturday kwame...to the extent of around $50k profit. Speculate to accumulate, who cares how many possesions he gained. Bring on Donald Trump!

Aker was named in the best so he can't have done too badly. It was a great day to be a part of. All three of Michael, Akermanis and Johnson spoke well in the pre game luncheon. One line in particular sparked some disapproving cries from the die hard Essendon supporters, but an enemy of an Essendon supporter is a friend of mine. I have been around the club for the past 15 years and I can honestly say I have never seen the Merchandising window open and jumpers selling like hotcakes (Great design by the way, will have to invest in one).

Big game this week for the boys. Marby looking like they have started to hit another gear and it will be a good test for our boys. Lets hope the two blues can snag a victory down by the river and then kick onto the ball later that evening for a few Don Scotts.

Also, Saw Scott Harding has been given a Scholarship to the University of Hawaii to play Wide Receiver. Good news for him, not very good news for Avondale though. At 1-6, I hope this doesn't have a big impact on the remainder of their season

As a neutral supporter I thought Akermanis played a serviceable game. What he did was classy, but he certainly wasn't in Abers best 8 for mine.[

Should be a ripper game between Marby and Abers this week.
Think it will be closer than most people think, Abers are on fire at the moment, Shouls bring a big crowd .
Mal Michael vs Luke Livingstone should be a great battle.

Yes agreed.

Marbi are deserved favourites and will most likely win, but its the first time in a while that Abers and Marbi are both at the right end of the table so inerest will be high. I expect a massive crowd.

The Aker game coincided with our 60th anniversary of Clifton Park being used as home ground, so I think it was a once off. I really like the old jumper and I would like to see it used more often.

Big test for our improved backline this week but the game will be won in midfield. Ayres/Hollow/Broadbent etc v Skippy/Pev/Haoucher etc makes for one hell of a contest. I think it will be a good spectacle for EDFL but as much as it pains me to say, it would be hard to tip against Marby, they have the runs on the board and it is at their home ground.

To Abers' credit they do have their rucks in form and Haouchar has looked exceptional in the two games I've seen, but Marby have been outrageously good in the 3 games I've seen from them. Ayres has lost nothing this year, Aisake/Stewart both win a heap of ball around the ground as big men, Livingston in great form at one end and McGlynn/Towner in really good form at the other. Hoping for a close game as it's match of the day but honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's a bit like the Greenvale/Strathmore games where MP keep AB at arms length without blowing them away.

Re: EDFL "A" Grade - 2010

Real football being played in London "About time"

On a serious note:

What is the response like from the locals in Londan to Local Aussie rules football?

How serious is the competition?

Serious enough... if you want a kick over here then let me know...

Looking forward to the Marby v Abers game this week. Should be a cracker, word has it that Marby have named Brodie Holland this week, Watched him train last night on the river side of the oval with the rest of the 1's still looks fit and disposal was better than most out there. A massive in for Marby and also adds a little bit more toughness around the ball.
Also could there be new addition from another club to take up a spot beside Luke Livingston in the forward line... watch this space!
Marby by 7 goals.

Interesting, if your saying from another EDFL club, Marty Pask would be the first name that comes to mind after the rumours he is unhappy at Keilor.

HUGE result today as Abers beat Marby 96 - 78!!

Well done Abers , great win, but may I say they had those so called umpires on their side all day, havent seen a side favoured so much with decisions for a long time , they were bad, however Abers still deserved the win.
Makes the competion interesting:confused:

Watched the Marby v Abers game, good game of high quality footy. Abers just controlled the midfield with Rabee, Skipworth & Peverill all dominating. Bullen, Ayres & Broadbent basically had no influence. Livingston was well held all though still kicked about 4. Great for the comp to see Marby challenged.

Also the away change rooms are a disgrace, they have built an extension but is so adly designed that its worse than it was before it started. Not sure who is on the planning comittee with MV city council but they have botched the job badly.

You have got to be kidding. Agree the umpiring wasn't great but it hardly went our way. The Marby players carried on and tried to rough up the likes of Skippy and Rabee and it blew up in their face. How many frees did you want in the last quarter? Or had you gone home by then, the silence when Marby kicked the first goal in the last quarter was deafening.

It was a great game but I think you are off your rocker about the umpires..there were at least 2 50 metre penalties that resulted in goals for you guys. Anyway no point focusing on umpires and anyway I thought they were ok and consistent for what was a tough game.

Livingstone was fantastic all day, just showed what a class act he is. Abers controlled the game and were deserved winners. I watched Greenvale destroy Marby there last year but we all know what happened in finals so can't read too much into the win but fantastic for Abers and the comp
