Re: EDFL "B" Grade - 2010

Can anyone from Keilor Park confirm Trent Croad will be playing there in 2011?

Form the Other EDFL Web Site, Matt Pilios...............................

I spoke to the Keilor Park Footy Department last night and they have confirmed some great news that Steve Gamble who looked likely to go to Albion FC is now going to stay with the club for season 2011.

He is massive for their quest for the Premiership and will make it tough for his mids and defenders.

The club is still working on an unlikely deal with Trent Croad, but are staying optimistic.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: :confused::confused::confused:

8 teams, 8 comps, 2 grounds, 1 day- melbourne metros best of the best!

On Sunday March 6th this event will be broadcast live via SEN Radio 1116 AM.

8 of the premiership teams from 2010 around Melbourne have agreed to play in a 20/20 style competition for their chance to take out the prestigious trophy of becoming Melbourne metro footballs best of the best and win their club $5000 in prizes and money.

The event and day has been organised by Benjamin Charles from SPORT SUPPORT. Also helping promote and run the event is Matty Pillios (EDFL MEDIA HOST) along with various other high profile metropolitan footballers and current or ex AFL players. The day will start at 11am and games will be played at CT Barling Reserve located at Plenty Rd, Reservoir.

The 8 clubs representing their leagues are as follows:

NFL – West Preston F.C (Ran all over powerhouse Heidelberg F.C to take 2010 premiership coach and are known to be physical.)

VAFA – Old Carey F.C (Smashed the VAFA B section comp in 2010 and now in A section will represent VAFA. Have picked up close to 8 quality players for season 2011. Old Xavs F.C declined to participate.)

GFL – South Barwon F.C (One of the favourites from a powerhouse comp. Will be at full strength and have the entire town of Geelong behind them.)

EDFL – Marby Park F.C (Back to back premiers will try and stamp its name as the strongest metro football team in the country boasting a ton of talent.)

EFL – Mulgrave F.C (Represent one of the strongest Melbourne comps and this year are in Div 1. Have recently recruited quality AFL & VFL players for season 2011. Noble Park F.C declined to participate.)

RDFL – Riddell F.C (Strong club with a massive following and will be keen to keep momentum from their 2010 premiership win.)

SFL – Clayton F.C (The club has been a powerhouse in Div 1 for a long time. Have recruited very strongly for 2011. St Kilda City F.C could not confirm.)

WRFL – Albion F.C (Stunned the WRFL winning the 2010 flag and with some new recruits will give it a shake. Coming from a comp with physical football.

EXTRA EVENTS

“Melbournes Fittest Footballer” (Vertical Leap, 20 Metre Sprints and Push Up Comp.)

“Grand Final Curtain Raiser” (60 Person Beep Test between any local registered footballer.)

Robbie Don back for another year in charge of the Hawks

No flag for them in the forseeable future then twobobsworth !
I wouldn't go that far Bomba. Yes, I will agree that they may be a little way off the pace setters (Pacco), but they aren't that far away from the rest of the pack. (Westy, Tulla, Hadfield etc. WC an unknown). They were arguably a little stiff to miss finals last year losing a couple of early games that they perhaps should have won when the side was still trying to gel together as a team, but on the flip side they did lose games when it counted (Pacco & Hadfield) that ultimately took things out of their control and had to rely on Westy beating Hadfield in the last game to make it. At the end of the day though the ladder says they finished 6th but in my opinion if they can recruit smart over the next couple of seasons, keep the quality players that they've got and develop some of the very good kids coming through, I could see no reason why they couldn't be pushing for the ultimate glory in the next couple of seasons. A very proud club with some great people within it that i'm sure will be having a real crack in season 2011 celebrating their 50th anniversary which is also Ron Rooney's last as coach.

Would have preferred more of a champions league format, say 2 teams from each league and have a proper 4 week carnival with say 4 groups of 4... top teams progress into the semis and then a final....

$20,000 prize money - one HD coverage

And play at proper VFL venues... not suburban grounds...

Another idea is underlights at end of season

2:west coburg- just back from A grade could bounce straight back up as have done in previous years
3:tullamarine- have picked up some quality always there abouts
4:westmeadows- another year under their belts for a young talented group made finals last year after everybody expected them to slide
5: hadfield- their big junior program starting to have some effect with an under 18`s flag in 2010 and runners up in 2009 some very good young guys coming through
6:sydenham- young group a few more recruits could be a contending side in another year or two
7:airport west- have under achieved recently missing finals in 2010 pretty quiet on recruits this year as opposed to the last few years
8:glenroy- under achieved last year had a talented group and missed finals
9:keilor park- huge injuries in 2010 cost them as they expected to make finals in 2010 have a new coach and some quality recruits
10:northern saints- new coach some new recruits from macleod should be around the same as 2010
11:east keilor- couple of new recruits around the same as 2010 i expect
12:moonee valley- young side pretty quiet at this stage
13:roxburgh park- young side lots of improvement to develop
14:jacana- some decent young guys but zero depth and little ability to attract decent recruits

fourth sport to ninth to be very close like last year i expect, was hard to predict at this stage of the year but should have a better idea once clearances open

1) Pascoe - should only drop a game or 2. Surely could not lose it this year?
2) West Coburg - will be phsically strong as always. Being in A grade should help with their development.
3) Tulla - good last year and should be around the mark.
4) Hadfield - surprised last year and should continue with good progress
5) Westmeadows - young side will benefit from another year developing.
6) Keilor Park - some good pick up's plus the return of some key players should see KP improve.
7) Glenroy - Very disappointing in 2010 - could finsih as higher as 2nd. Tough one to judge.
8) Airport West - another disappointing 2010.
9) Sydneham - surprised in 2010 but not sure the good run will continue

Raffle the last 5

10) Northern Saints
11) Moonee Valley
12) East Keilor
13) Roxy
14) Jacana
