Progressive move by willy in my eyes looking to recruit young talent rather than hedge chances on 23 24 year olds that won't take next step

And the next step is???? The only next step is to be drafted or rookie listed by an AFL recruiter. And that’s not easy!!

From all reports Willy could be in some turmoil and this probably won’t help if I’m fact true. As I said good on the kid if he gets an opportunity but just think the current playing group of players on the fringe won’t like this..

How are APW going for points this season. Can you imagine if Young got to play 5 games for Willy as he then would be classified as 5 points..Interesting!!

Can’t ever be 5 points if he has played 200 games for APW. Will be 1 pt. Played APW juniors since under 10s. And on the premier division comment... he actually played premier as a 15yr old under Contessa, Harris, Urquart etc. Perhaps you should give him some credit? He is a loyal player who loves his club.

Settle down Turbo.....is this any different to Port Melbourne players going to play for Avondale? Or is that ok?

The way he played today I can’t see how he’s at the level?

Everyone plays a bad match. The kid just missed out on the last cut of vic metro selection in his top age year at Cannons. So he can obviously play (won the div1 league medal last year as well at 20 years old). At 194cm, if he keeps developing he stands a chance as a mature age recruit. Not saying he will get there, but how about some praise, rather than potting young blokes?

Well said. Would actually be typical for a kid of his age for that to happen.

That would explain him going goalless yesterday. Given the margin I'm guessing AW's troubles started well before the FF.
The big hype of a 1 vs 2 game, and was expecting a Best Offense Team vs Best Defence Team but besides the first 10mins of the game it was pretty much one-sided.

- APW fwd line was well beaten by the Tulla backs. T.Young was held goalless by R.Laurie and with him taken out of the game APW didn't have any of the other forwards that helped contribute.
- APW midfield was clearly beaten by Tulla midfield
- APW backline battled hard and moved the ball well out at times but was under too much pressure all day. The small fwds of S.Vocale, C.Howard & #34 always looked dangerous when the ball was in their area.

Interesting results in the other games this week too.
Cragieburn smashed Taylors Lakes and are still in the hunt for a top 2 finish.
East Keilor smashed Westmeadows at Westmeadows which was a big surprise to most
Oak Park did enough against Jacana to seal their fate and relegation.

Half way mark of the season, Jacana set to be relegated and 5 teams (TUL/APW/CRG/HIL/TL) looking to fill 4 spots in the finals.

A couple of big games over the weekend with the top 4 all playing against each other. 1v2 and 3v4 and we had huge margins, did anyone see that coming?

CB over TL by 76 points. Are CB slidding under the radar? Will TL run out of puff in the second half of the year? A huge result and not much getting said about the game. Limbach 10 goals, we hill be the difference come the pointy end of the year like Winter was last year in the GF. Big forwards win finals

I went down and had a look at Tullamarine and APW, what a disappointment. A tight 1st quarter, but from there after total domination all over the ground. Tullamarine rucks dominated and gave the midfield first use, their backline is clearly the best in the comp and they have multiple goal kickers every week. Tullamarine moved the ball to quick for APW to handle. I agree sometimes a loss is a good thing but this was a smashing and based on what I saw APW can not beat Tullamarine on a dry day at Windy Hill.

EK over Westmeadows by 61 points ay Westmeadows. 9 goals between Knight and Phillpot is good signs. Has Westmeadows dropped right away, keep hearing how young they are but they also have at least 6-7 blokes over 30 that I believe are just about finished at this level or is this the resurgence of EK and what we all expected in the pre season.

OP and Jacana was the closest game of the week with the Oakers getting up 29 points. All the hype and talk coming out of the Jags in the pre season and they will go 0-16. Microscope needs to be placed on them I think for the way they recruited.

Half way through the season has anyone's opinions / predications changed from prior to round 1.

Top 4 ?
GF ?
Premiers ?
Comp B & F ?

I’m not brave enough to predict the GF & Premiers...

But I think the top 4 is gonna be...
1. Tulla
2. CB
3. APW
4. TL... or maybe Hillside?

Westy are gone, great result for EK and hopefully they can get it together and push TL & Hillside. Oak Park are making up the numbers and Jacana will be going down.

I'll stick with the current top 4.

Tulla v Craigieburn in the GF.

Who wants to go up?

If Whitnall's the coach next year at the Eagles, then they should be able to recruit a few, but player points may be an issue. Tulla were on 47 of 48 but you'd think they'd need to strengthen up a fair bit. Going to be tough for either side. Tulla to win.

B & F Limbach

With EDS most likely to come down, Div 1 may well be even better than it has ever been in 2019.
