Out of curiosity, who's applauding Roxy?
Generally speaking, clubs that recruit heavily generally do cop it more than those that don't, you only have to look at some of the negativity directed at Deer Park, Balwyn, Abers, Greenvale, Strathmore, Keilor etc over the years for confirmation of that.

If they perform and finish top 4 everyone will be calling them "salary cap cheats blah blah blah, 10 signings on half cap amount cheats blah blah blah". The negativity will begin if they start doing well. I for one wish they do well, every club should be recruiting yearly to better their ranks. Hats off to Roxy taking a page out of Ek's book.

Only way they will secure their spot in div 1 for years to come is by bolstering their ranks. Look whats happening to Craigieburn thats only one example they are about to do the yoyo and come back down next year i bet they go winless this season.

Why would I be? I'm simply not emotionally invested in how EK is portrayed on an anonymous footy forum by people who have minimal, if any, understanding of what goes on within that footy club.
As stated, plenty of clubs have copped it more consistently over a longer period time than EK - they just get on with it.

Saw a FB post that they had a change of venue for training which would be strange for a club that wasnt training.

He was training with us but is down at Preston giving it a crack at getting on their senior list. Good on him too. Was never at Port though from the conversations I've had directly with him. He's a great kid who I know everyone at the club wants to see succeed. No club would ever stand in the way of anyone pushing for a spot at VFL level

Yeah we have added to the list but a good portion of this are blokes coming home like Braddles, Eggy, Matty Patane and others joining mates or family at the club. Happy place right now.

Might also make Sugar's job easier as ressies coach with the quality of players coming back down from the ones to fit in the new players. Plenty of competition for spots

Take away the dpfc reserve recruits then the recruitment haul from 2019 was average with 4 of the 5 no longer at the club due to going back to home clubs or retirement.

I'm hearing Ben Johnson is only playing a few games at Roxy. He went there to play along side the Reichelt brothers as they are his direct nephews. He has told the club he does not want to be paid, just happy to play and do some coaching. Great for Roxy if true.

Yeah they just signed an ex AFL player who contacted them to have a chance to play senior footy with his 3 nephews. But a club of RP age demographic and the experience and knowledge he would pass on is nothing but positive for that club. Nothing like all of EK recruits coming across for the love of the club and jumper. Playing for minimum wage no highly paid work on the outside to escape the cap and again not to mention no sign ons. But you go with what ever helps you feel ok with how EK have gone about things and makes you sleep at night.

I suspect this is a direct result / assessment of the recruiting push at EK.
How many of these recruits will still be at the club in 2023 ?
I suspect not many, and they will continue to keep replacing them. Very expensive exercise which is why it won’t be sustainable long term.

The Bashing of EK is because they are not playing by the rules - SALARY CAP... Leave RP out of it , no-one is begrudging them of their improvement
