At the end of a long season having a week off before a big final then a week off if good enough to recover and prepare for a GF is the ultimate prep IMO.
System guarantees the best team a week off but also gives the opportunity for 2nd & 3rd if good enough to get one as well.

I actually really enjoyed the RDFNL's top 6 system. Obviously won't work now or in the EDFL, but it was exciting.

Absolutely agree with above comments about Westy, they are 100% the only team with leg speed that can match APW. i disagree about there backline being solid. i think its Poor. heavy reliance on Midfield/forward group. They're yet to beat anyone above them this year so would need a bit to change come finals time but definitely capable.

West Coburg hopeful the return of a couple of top end players over the next few weeks gives them a boost. if that takes place it wouldnt surprise anyone if they played a big part in the finals.

I actually really enjoyed the RDFNL's top 6 system. Obviously won't work now or in the EDFL, but it was exciting.

it would be great if the edfl introduces top 5 next year it would great to have an extra team play finals and the team that finishes on top gets a week rest which they deserve its no good to have the same teams play finals every year and it would be great if we have four teams fighting for fifth spot instead the 4 is set unless some huge upset happens in the last 2 rounds.wrfl and nfnl have a top 5 and it works great.

Did anyone expect Roxy to make the finals?
A few weeks ago they were sitting third on the ladder.
Injuries? Covid? Young side feeling fatigued as the season wore on....who knows?
I'd say they are going to end up about where they should be.
8 wins, should win the last game, 9 wins....slowly building.
You'd think they would be aiming for finals next year though.

100% agree i think they have been improving and traveling along nicely with the growth. Next year agreed should be a finals focus big challenge with no under 18s and under 16s finishing down the ladder in div 4. Improvement maintained from the last 2 years over the next 2 years and should be back to back finals campaigns

Im positive West Preston won a flag from 5th position, maybe even twice. Did Lower Plenty do it also one year? Just makes things interesting, Rupo may well finish 5th but have proven there best can beat the top 2 sides. There had been so many sides stiff to miss the 4 over the years, i think it would be great and must happen.

Absolutely nailed it, i dont recall any huff and puff out of Roxy. Been a good consistant improver ever since they won the Div 2 Flag. Farrelly & Elliot as leaders are as good as anyone in the division, great people too. Finals probably needs to be on the agenda next year however with Glenroy likely coming down and Rupo also looking to push for finals in 2023 its not a guarantee. i say good luck to any club looking to improve and they definitely are one

Roxy in my view are too dependant on Elliot. l think he is a great player/leader and would make a strong capt/coach in edfl but if he is tagged his effectiveness drops significantly. l have watched every team in div 1 this year and too be honest all have displayed passages of good footy. He is without a doubt in the best coupe of players in The division
I’ve watched many games either online or in person of Roxy and he is the difference in them winning and loosing and I’d love too see the amount of footy he’d be getting a game
It astounds me how a player of his size and ability would not be playing a higher standard the same can be said with young from APW
However the question for Roxy is if he’s held as mentioned dandy who comes next they have great coach but they need a decent recruiting off season otherwise they’ll find themselves very quickly in relegation battle next year
But I think for now they are where I thought they’d be


The rest of the year is gonna be interesting
APW clear favourite but the next 4 I believe could easily play off in the grand final

I reckon it’s a about time people gave credit to mo kak on the job his doing at westy his been four years and they about to play finals for the third time in four years not bad effort I reckon his got them playing a good exciting brand of football they might not be as talented as apw or tulla but come finals times on their day they can beat anyone they got the players to do it.no one is having a go about Dave Connell every year they are tipped to be the favourites for the flag but fail to deliver when it matters most in grand finals or preliminary finals and you take mckernan out of the team they struggle big time.

Big boy I think you’ll find Tulla have never been favourites in any season since coming back to B Grade in 2005.
They last won a flag in 03 after finishing 3rd or 4th.

The highest they have finished on the ladder is second at the end of the home and away since 05.
GF appearances…
07 - Marby clear favourites and won
08 - Glenroy finished top and won whilst beat Tulla 4 times that year
14 - West Coburg finished first (only lost one game in H and A) and beat Tulla GF day
16 - Craigieburn clear favourites finishing first and won the GF with the Clokes
18 - Airport West finished top and won the flag. Tulla 48 points down and hit the lead to be run over in the last.

So yes bridesmaids but never favourites. Same can be said about this year.
