He did, im not going to comment anymore on the matter as i dont want to be seen as biased to westmeadows, i was not at the game due to working, so i can only go on what i was told. At the end of the day nobody deserves to have there jaw broken in that manner.

Why didn’t anyone from Westy stand up for Dunn once he got hit??
You don’t see the actual hit but he definitely went off and that type of action will get you extra weeks alone.
The umpire appears to have seen the whole thing.

Broken jaw is not ideal. I would be surprised if Dunn continues on now this has happened..

This event will get around and WILL be a deterrent in recruiting AFL players of significance to the EDFL. Hey Turbo did you want the rest of team to attack Merhi whilst the umpire is hell bent on getting him off the ground. Watch the last ten minutes of game to see how WC responded or as you put stood up to opposition. It was stirring stuff .

Dunn never threw a punch but was remonstrating . part of story left out was that umpire saw it all as she was at the confrontation. Red card straight away and Merhi wouldnt leave the field but left the ground at half time. Sad part of all this is key player in EDFL Dunn now has broken jaw and who knows what that means going forward. 7 weeks was light.

From the footage, it appears as though Ferras took exception to Archer roughing up a teammate on the ground, Dunn ran in and had his jaw broken for his trouble, given Ferras was sent from the field, further remonstration could have caused things to deteriorate quite rapidly.
Better to get Ferras off the field and focus on winning the game IMO.

Yes totally agree and playing div1 as well.

The footage definitely shows Dunn running in and would be around 20-30 meters but you miss what he does when he gets there and also what Ferris does. You only see Dunn on the deck.
From the crowd noise I'm not sure Dunn actually hits him. (he very well could have just an observation)
There is no reaction from the crowd until Ferris obviously hits Dunn.
That's what i made of it but something definitely stirred up Ferris. Seen him a few times play and never seen him like that.

thats not what he said at all. poetic licence in your comment. he said he threw the first punch. not that it hit him nor who threw the punch. Remember the umpire was right there. Remember also it was westmeadows who went after Archer just prior to Dunn getting hit because they were upset with the archer tackle near the boundary line.

Apologies - yep you are correct, that’s what he said. I jumped the gun without going back and re listening. Not defending anyone. No punches should ever be thrown past the white line.

thats ok. wonder if Merhi will sue herald sun who have a headline that it was a coward punch. l cant believe there is justification for what happened.

Turbo might wanna watch the last 10 minutes of this game. Check out between 5-6 minutes left in the game. 21 from WC has two WM water boys & their runner mouthing off to him, he actually puts his arm round the water boy. Could have all just been some banter. But why are the 2 water boys even standing their together. And their runner seems to talk to the umps abit. I don’t think runners should be talking at all to umpire,s

A puch is a punch damgage should be irrelevant. 1 punch might of just been a cleaner shot. Either way it should not be happening.

Who ever wrote that article should be sacked, gutter journalism, noway Dunn was celebrating a goal when Ferras hit him.

And after doing some googling, it seems Ferras probably isnt a thug. He's well educated and I bet he doesn't have a reputation for that sort of stuff.

Turbo I hear what your saying this normally applies to the big clubs that stack age groups to get premierships but I doubt CD are doing this as they are growing in juniors due to a lot of hard work but they are not one of the big clubs that normally get their own way with grading .

Is this a Div 1 forum or Turbo’s crusade for his u16 side to drop a division?

The vision isn't very good, but the ump was right there and obviously got a good look at it. Good to see #24 from WC suspended for his hit.
