And after doing some googling, it seems Ferras probably isnt a thug. He's well educated and I bet he doesn't have a reputation for that sort of stuff.

Doesn't matter if he isn't a "thug" "well educated" and doesn't have a "rep" because he's a got a rep and is now a thug .
The well educated failed him, because you know as a player violence isn't the answer

All players should be able to play footy with out fear of being punched by an opponent. Play footy, if you want to punch go box or cage fight. Come on clubs protect our game. No wonder almost a quarter of clubs cant field an under 18's.

Ferris isn’t a thug, but don’t think that he hasn’t roughed up many a player over the years. Dunn loves a few jumper punches and gut punches but just seems like he picked the wrong bloke to do it against. This was always on the cards after the events of their clash earlier in the year. Always something happening with these 2 clubs

not condoning the ferris hit but Dunn ran in 30 meter hit ferris first surly ferris has the right to defend himself . I don't think the thug tag is warranted .And your right violence is not on, but you can not turn the other cheek every time sometimes you have to stand up and fight fire with fire

why is the person who defended themselves being made out to be the villain ? the response was excessive and a broken jaw not warranted, however If Dunn had not run in and thrown the first punch we would not be having this discussion. you poke the bear and sometimes you get bitten

I don't condone this sort of valiance on any form of sporting field .I do however defend the right to defend yourself , a lot of people are hacking into big ferris and making him out to be the one who attacked Dunn as per a local paper article and voiced on 3aw today this is not the case I am just trying to add some balance to the debate

Dunn ran in from a reasonable distance away to get involved in an altercation between others, it seems that he lashed out & in return got dropped.
There's two points:
1) Ferras deserves & received a v healthy stint on the sidelines.
2) Glossing over Dunn's involvement is ridiculous.

Hitting back and retaliation... Your post suggests coaching should focus on avoiding these acts?

Perhaps the coaching should be more focussed on playing within the rules of the game ... retaliation would remain redundant.
