Also told that they won 18s and Reserves
Hard to tell who played and who didn’t play for both sides but all in all if correct, was a good day for HS.

Anyone surprises or standouts from HS? Did a few of the potential seniors play reserves?

Bailey Ryan was excellent, moved and presented well up the ground and i rekon kicked 5 goals.

Gobbo was ok in the ruck, Prestia played well on ball.

Covelli played second half only and kicked 1 or 2.

Not sure who was missing for hillside, Marby rekon they were going at 60-70%, none of their VFL boys were there and i am told they have 7 on the list.

Overall windy conditions + heat + first hit out = was far from a spectacle but i expect hillside to finish between 3rd and 6th.

Young Bailey Ryan is a talent - was on coburgs list and should get himself to a prem club with some ties. He can definitely go at VFL level one to watch out for, I remember him as a headline act HS v WM a few years ago kicked 8 as a 19/20yo

Yeah I kind of agree with you that he should test himself at a higher level but on the flip side his a very loyal kid so got to respect that. HS must be doing their part by looking after him financially. I believe EK might have had a crack at getting him prior to 2022 but he stayed loyal to HS.

Have heard him or Miksa off to Deer Park next year, big coin

I believe HS helped get him on that Coburg List and he did nothing with the opportunity I assume as Coburg dumped him after one year. Going to a Prem side doesn’t guarantee you a VFL spot. As much as these Prem clubs and coaches want to spin it to these young kids. They feed them crap to have them play for their local side and soon become 1 pointers. Their local junior clubs loss them to false promises

Playing Prem footy certainly helps if you are wanting to play VFL, Div 1 to Prem is a fair jump especially against the better clubs!

St Albans?

Played a praccy up in Albury got pumped by 13 goals....
I would of expected even more, 35 degrees on the road against Wodonga in Oven & Murrays best local division going around.. Was told they were stretched with low numbers across each team. Makes for a long drive home

3 games difference between 3rd place and 7th , the OM league is a very good showing. Seen a couple yarra games up there over the years, different kettle of fish them kids
St Albans were lucky to win games last year in WRFL, they have lost a few and gained a couple, not expecting them to be in top 5 - if they get that high it will be 5th at best

The top 4 teams have a huge gap to the ones outside finals. Wodonga beat the 3 sides below twice in 8 wins included a very weak Wodonga Raiders, perennial cellar dwellers Nth Albury and now defunct Corowa Rutherglen.
Wodonga Bulldogs average losing margin was 40 points, whilst I agree the O&M is a great comp not all teams are competitive. Might be looking at this one with rose coloured glasses!

StAlbans only won 5 games last year finishing 7th from 10.
Tells me they will not win against top 4 teams.
