EDFL Div 1 Discussion 2023

Deer Park will be clear favorites.
Top 5 will be,
Deer Park
West Coburg
St Albans
Rupo
Hillside

Deer park will win the flag, best coach and list in the comp by a country mile.

Heath Scottland can coach and with the ins DP will do it easy.

West Coburg will be strong but not strong enough.

if you think deer park is better than every team in div 1 why the edfl put them in div1 instead of premier we haven’t heard any teams from div 1 complain about deer park going to dominate div 1 and should be in premier we just have to wait and see you might be right

You haven’t heard people complain about deer park being put in Div 1 instead of premier? Has your head been buried in the sand. Seriously. Read the chat.

Aucklander jackson barling is a gun!
I would assume he won’t play much but bullants won’t play finals so maybe just enough to qualify for finals.

Bashen yep I’ve heard there recruits are good as usual.

I figured that would be the case.

With stuff all juniors and reliance on recruiting, it just adds further to what they actually offer the EDFL.

Over estimating St Albans ability..
Have seen them play against DP for the past 5 seasons and they have been poor finishing 7th in all years bar 1 year when they were 6th.
Suggest they will closer to the bottom end of the ladder.

I'm hearing St Albans smashed Hillside a few years ago in a praccy. They also made light work of EK when EK were in Div 1 (before Pat). St A beat Hoppers this year who were a top 4 team.

They will be fine in this comp. Top 4 IMO.

No just DP.. But this talk of St Albans struggling to make finals in B Grade is outrageous

I think they'll make it too, but I'm happy to back in sides like Rupo, Hillside, and even Roxy on their day.

When do we find out if DP & St.A players above 1 pointers will gain a point for going from Prem comp to Div1.

I’m sure spineless Edfl won’t apply this.
Announced 2 VFL players so far. Imagine they are both 5 points ? I’m sure this week will be filled with Deer Park signings!!
They will be making this a very short stay in Div.1

WC couldnt've picked a worse year to open the cheque book!!!!
I think all clubs would feel pretty flat with what the board has done to the division but to be fair to WC a lot of those recruits are homegrown or least played there previously so it’s massive positive for the club. Archer, Dunn & Johncock out would free up a lot too you would think

Very good point.
By-laws clearly state that if moving from a major metro club (WRFL) premier league to EDFL Div 1, then the player is to be given an additional point.

That’s why I said above 1 pointers.

Eg Greenwood 6 pointer, drops 1 point, but gains 1 point for dropping Div. he should stay a 6 pointer this season.
I would suggest that all players would drop a point not gain a point.
Players haven’t changed divisions the whole club has changed. So greenwood would be a 5 pointer

Another gun signing by deer park…. Parker’s by 20 goals in the flag is my tip

Gotta laugh at the nuffies genuinely suggesting players should attract an extra point Because their clubs have changed leagues

As if that would ever occur

The rule is there as a disincentive to players shopping themselves to clubs in lower divs year after year

Understand your views however they are technically dropping a division so should attract an extra point. But if a side is relegated from say Premier to Div 1 such as Glenroy they don’t attract a point.
It’s more around it was the clubs choice to change leagues not a forced relegation so I understand the views.
There should be a ruling on this but maybe they should stay as they were in 2022 with their player point value. I think that’s fair..

Turbo with common sense👍, only a Laverton nuffy would suggest otherwise🙄

Hish will play out the whole season at DP and is sure to rough a few feathers, goodluck to him - cashing in where he can. Bullants are struggling, don't believe DP will have the others hit the park too often.. understand there is more signings to come. They are going after players from each vfl side in order to have them rotating through the side on their bye rounds..
