EDFL Div 1 Discussion 2023

No use worrying about the Cap as it is not policed and clubs like DP, EK and Pacco pay 3 times what the amount is capped at as that's the only way they can compete!!!
The EDFL will beat their chest thou saying we have caught out Keilor Park & Rupertswood for being over the cap, look at the great job we are doing. It's a complete joke, scarp the cap.

The hypocrisy is next level. From all reports both clubs were caught out on relatively minor breeches, but breeches all the same. You do not need to be a mathematician to work out that the cap is being abused by all and sundry. It’s just some are smarter and more experienced at it than others. Just waiting for an aggrieved partner or player to open up to the powers at be. If you look at the fines handed out for the minor breeches it would potentially send some clubs to the wall and into recess. The bigger question is how do we stop the spiralling cost of putting a team on the park? Unfortunately we all aspire to make our teams successful now rather than build it from within. Hate to think what community footy will look like in 20 years. That’s if there is any. We are already seeing examples of clubs going from positions of strength to extremely vulnerable in a very short period of time. AFL VIC need to get off their backsides and address before it gets to a point of no return for many clubs.

Well lets hope for the competitions sake a 23 player point team, where majority of the players played junior footy together, can get over the top of a rich, money spending club with double the player points playing this week with the Max 46 points.

I said it earlier this year David vs Goliath, last time I said that David won....here's to a repeat of that.

From reports both gf teams will be audited by AFL vic. Be interested to see the outcome. I know clubs pay in tab vouchers. But maybe they should interview players not just look at the clubs spreadsheet on what they are paying them.

I’d start with the ones that missed on selection last night, then maybe just ask Levi why he decided to switch clubs mid season.

Earlier this year I noticed the Western Rams signed Dean Galea. As surprised as I was, I thought that's a bloody good effort by the Rams to sign a former VFL player, and a bloody good one at that. So I've followed their results with interest this season to track his progress. Not always in the best or amongst the goal kickers so here I am thinking he's only a shadow of his former self.

Only now have I seen this team, with Galea of Ruppo named at CHF, that I realise it's not the same Dean Galea.

How do you audit brown paper bags and payments through third parties For example a club sponsor could pay the player’s Aunty who works for the sponsor, who hands over the cash to the player. ( just a hypothetical of course)

Auditors can only audit what is in front of them.

Play the bloody ball. Keep your hands off players on the ground spectators. Absolutely disgraceful s**t. Morrish BOG so far.

Still a contest, but gee, get your heads in the game.

Yep. Saw it on the telly. Spectator with his hands on a players face. What a goose. Should be a cracking 2nd half if they play footy.

They're hard enough to beat as it is especially so if you don't focus on the footy.

It’s no contest. West Coburg #19 can put his boots in the bin and never return, poor act from an experienced player giving up half through the second 1/4.
West Coburg have no target inside 50, the smalls that have been so potent and have all fumbled and been towelled up. Around the ground they are matching everything Deer Park have but can’t score. Deer Park backs a fortress lead by Bol & Quick.
Deer Park been clean but West Coburg defenders held their own for the most part, at least 5 DP goals have been a result of free kicks or downfields plus one whilst most were dealing with #19’s gutless act. All free kicks seemed reasonable and think it’s been umpired well considering how many cheap shots been made, in saying that the coverage is very poor and missing a lot!

Hope West Coburg can put their head over the ball, show some real courage and make it a game at least by 3/4 time. Deer Park looked determined and won’t be sucked in

Morrish very firm fav for medal, been outstanding. D.Cleary for West been great too. Greenwood showing some class and composure in small doses.
Martini, Saad, Martin & Taha unsighted. Need to lift.

Need to identify the supporters on the fence. Not good enough. Glad it didn’t end up like earlier in the year
