EDFL Div 1 Discussion 2024

Well yes that's kinda what I was trying to say all along but I didn't want to point it out in such detail.

On the other hand, if you look at the players who have stuck around, many of them played almost every senior game and have a much better future than certain others who are way past it.

Flippa also didn't play that much senior footy this year and tbh I don't think he's confirmed as having left just yet.

Steve Mac is a great player but just like last year was injury prone and only managed a handful of games.

So really it's just Micallef, Stephens, Jackson and Long who will leave a hole but I am sure every side loses a few key players at the end of each season.

Overall the depth at Tulla is looking stronger than it's been for a while and yes I think we will play finals.
Lots of teams seem to think they are going to play finals. This division should be an absolute ripper next year, the best its been in years! The 4 remaining finals teams will all be there abouts again, not much chat coming out of Avondale but something tells me that is intentional and should definitely be around the finals. CB will be strong recruited well and lost nobody, Roxy will be better. Tulla lost plenty but recruiting well. Taylors lakes looking very good coming up a division. MV a little unknown have lost a few but wouldn't be surprised to see them recruit a few more on the back of the coach and also improve. Tight squeeze for only 5 spots. Assuming it will remain a top 5? Really hope the league stick with that despite the division going back to 10 teams. Premier and div 1 should be top 5 going forward. Even div 2 if there is 10 teams. Any word on a round 1 date? I see most other leagues have announced one bar the EDFL.

I don’t think mccallums impact can be limited to games. VFL + high level experience, always on the side line helping when injured. Basically a playing coach, and on the bench when injured. Highly respected by the playing group.
Yes injury prone but his impact can’t be measured in games. Him going will hurt them

Rd 1 locked in 5 April
Top 5 locked in
Only downside, no break after King's bday so keeping a fit list in the back half of the season will be key.

Not quite. As far as I know there's only five heading to Talbot - Stephens, Sikora, Lang and Hind x 2.

Other than that, I only know of three other players who played seniors who are confirmed as not playing in 2025. I do suspect there may be one or two retirements though and those players who may be retiring didn't have much impact this year.

If you know of 14 players who have left then by all means name them but I don't think you could.

Also retention has been strong when you consider that the majority of younger players have all re-committed and so has the entire leadership group from last year. The three players who I regarded the best prospects for the future have all stayed on so that's what matters to me as a supporter.

I think the mix of youth and experience will be great for 2025.
Losing Smith as well I believe.

I agree, he was always there helping out even when injured.

Has he retired or gone elsewhere?

Tullamarine should be finals contenders now, If they get some luck on the injury side of things and a decent draw I don’t see why they can’t be playing finals. A fit Weightman could be very hard to stop especially with him not getting the best defender every week and form all reports he is as fit as his been in a long time. There looks to be some healthy competition for the goal kicking Award this upcoming season !
Every team to be on the improve by the looks of it so will need to go past a few. No club is really imploding like last year, or years prior, so should be a very even competition.

Pretty sure Del Busso from Pacco has signed at Oak Park so another to throw in the mix, will get plenty of service from OP midfield and frees up Ronaldson and O'halloran a little.
