Apart from what was an unbelievable fight back from APW what happened in the last quarter was the most appalling acts I have seen on the football field in watching football over the last 30 years. If the league do not get the guy and rub him out for years they are gutless. The sniper (Number 18) who ran from behind the mellee and king hit APW captain and then took off to hide in the forward line needs to be dealt with as severely as the kicker.

I was standing pretty close to the fight the actions of no 3 from west coburg were a disgrace the apw player he hit and then kicked is 17 years old. Tha sniper who hit apwests McVeigh number 18 what a low act should be thrown out of the league this so called man was later reported for i think kicking in the last quarter. West Coburg need to stand up and get rid of these idiots the club has been involved in many incidents over the years and need to say enough is enough

I don't understand how West Coburg have gotten away with this sort of thing for years and years.
Dates back to when I was a junior more than 15 years ago. They've always disgusted me and I'm glad they lost from an unlosable position.

Well I was actually there, it was 100% number 3, Fitaax. The only reference I've heard of number 1 was due to him throwing a cheapie in the first and whether if the umps had stepped in then that the later incidents could have been avoided.

This matter is now in Police hands (Not instergated by AW) seems the boys in blue on the day did not like what they saw?
The AW (17 year old) player has had x-rays yesterday and has a confirmed broken cheekbone.
Not good for the boy or the EDFLs reputation. I am sure more to follow????

More reports should have been made on the blatant tripping of AW players on more than one occasion,
And also striking ect.in 1st Quarter, in direct view, maybe this might have helped avoid later incidents as BlueJet mentioned.

I'm with you here, snax. I can't help but think a firmer hand "may" have avoided what came later. It would be my only criticism of the Umpires who I thought had done a good job otherwise.

It really was tragic what happened as I actually thought Fitaax had been one of the best on the ground even while West Coburg were being pounded.

A great pity the game will be remembered for all the wrong reasons and take the gloss of a truly fantastic win by Airport West.

I was sitting right behind the west coburg coaches box, and Fittax definitley did not jump into the crowd and he was not red carded either because he was reported by the boundary umpire not the field and pretty sure the west coburg coaches took him off the ground for his own safety, shows how quickly things can be wrongly reported based on speculation and rumour.

In no way do I condone the incident that occurred, it was a disgraceful act. However we have to look deeper into the incident. The poor young man was racially abused all day, from crowd and players on field. If the EDFL finally took a stance against racism as the AFL does incidents like this wouldn't occur. The young many is a talented player and is the subject of racial abuse week in week out and finally cracked on the biggest stage of them all. Many forget he was racially abused at last years GF as well. In no means is it a defense to give young Billy a Sentena O'hAplin toe poke to the gut but have a little compassion for the West Coburg player and put yourself in his shoes.

There is NO EXCUSE for what he did, he should've been rubbed out for a lot longer, talented or not. I think any form of Racism is disgusting, but I am sick of people using it as an excuse for VIOLENCE... There a lot worse things happen to players on the footy field, do we let them go around KING HITTING FROM BEHIND and KICKING to release their frustration also? The game is better off without tools like him running around trying to intimidate.

A toe poke to the gut??? if he made the same connection to a sherrin it wouldve travlled 60+ metres.
To the WCFC supporters who were clapping and cheering the accused after what he did. Im just wondering if youd be happy if one of your sons/daughters/friends were on the receiving end of that act..
As serious as the injuries sustained were.. they couldve been a lot more serious.

I would have thought 11 weeks is a little harsh but probably fair, he will miss half a season anything more would have been totally over the top. He will miss a little more than half a season which is still a massive punishment.

I wonder if the APW player admitted to racially abusing the WC player? And if so will he be suspended for that???
