Re: EDFL moves

keep an eye on abers best an fairest at the end of the year

Winning a b&f is not what you play footy for mate it's about winning premierships.

All that matters is that he plays his part and contributes to the team, which if he does, hopefully abers will be playing in finals.

I think you should give a person a few games before you start bagging them!

Does anyone know if D.S are trying to get Zac Dawson back to the club???

A phone call has been made, he has nominated for the afl draft next week, if that falls through he will be off to the sanfl.
Would like to think one day he will return, douttas wish him the best for the draft and beyond.

Heard that Maribyrnong Park have picked up Williamstown player Jackson Barling , does anyone know much about him?

22-23 years old, a man moutain
won the vfl equifilent for the rising star a couple of years ago.
was extremely unlucky not to be drafted, same age as trav cloke n would towel him up every time he played on him for the cannons!!

CHB, played cannons, willy vfl, west adel, is a gun
has a bit of c### in hiom, wont back down at all.

If its true marby must be throwing some large sums of cash around as he is one of the most loyal person you'l meet, it must have been too good to turn down!!!

good luck to big jacko!!

any other news coming out of the lions for 09, theye were all of people saying who they've signed this time last year.

how bout any other clubs?
many big names??

How bout B-grade, dosent get much of a look in, but who seem to be the big improver with players for 09?????

Keilor Park have signed former Port Adelaide/Geelong player Paul Koulouriotis for 2009. Also signed 2008 premiership player Marc Zucco & also Steven Gamble from Pascoe Vale.

Have heard he is on a fair bit more then that.

Also heard that there are 2 other very handy Williamstown VFL footballers heading Marby's way.

Very handy pick up if thats the case i cant justify that much money for a player as you could probably get 2 very good players for what his on, each to there own i guess. They wouldnt wanna stumble again like they did last season a team of individuals must come together as a team quickly, the coach has a fair job ahead of him. From what ive heard no body rates him so hope he proves ppl wrong.

It would be very dissapointing if doutta's where to lose sammy! his been a great servant of the club. Not too sure if this rumour is true but they wanna give him something in return for the contibution he has made. Very concerned though as supporter of the club seeing some key departures over the years and now the likes of losing philpot and other very good players training elsehwere has got me a bit worried. Douttas are gonna have to spend big to replace philpot. I dont think they done enough to keep a hold of him.

I think you may well have heard that in your own little head - couldn't be further from the truth, but hey don't let the truth get in the way of a big footy story. As for the amount of money jackson's being paid - not getting any cash we just bought him a 6 bedroom house down on the boulevard

lol id leave go for that as well!! :thumbsu:

You guys will make finals no doubt... ive been a firm believer for many years now that local footy/suburban footy club should be run like a business so if you have the money spend it and spend it big.

What an absolute joke of a comment. What is the point in throwing coin around?? So what if you win a flag or two, what is the benefit ? I accept that its much better for a club like Marby to be cashed up in A-grade than struggling in b-grade. But why dont we just get 10 millionaires to run each A-grade club so it can be one big pissing contest? Who cares about developing a good club, developing young players from the juniors or improving the character of players, lets just all try and win flags and be the best and then when the money runs out we desert the club and do something else.

- Hence the Club should run like a business!!!!!! at no stage did i mention get 10 millionares to run the club and win an A grade flag. Marby are lucky but you look at clubs like keilor who do run there club like a very well operated business and you can clearly see the results. Basically my answer to your stupid stupid comment is "kielor". I still like you though Prophetic....:thumbsu:

You must be the only one who likes me! I'm guessing you deliberately spelt Keilor wrong. And I'm not sure whether Keilor would be too happy with you just saying that it is a business...yes it is obviously a great model but that comes from a lot of hard work from a lot of devoted volunteers, a good location and a successful junior club? We have the AFL for watching clubs be run like a business, but even then their are obvious culture differences b/w clubs. It would be good to think that local footy does not have to follow suit and make $$$ the most important thing? Thats all im saying...

Pascoe Vale sound like they are recruiting well.
Daniel Sipthorpe from Woodend and Sam Young from Riddell are 2 names that come to mind

Sam Young was a very good junior footballer, not sure if he has kicked on since then.

Thats a fair comment as well i guess there are arguments on both sides. The fact is nothing will change unless the league does something about it. Untill then these arguments will roll on.

any how im off for an early lunch and a froff!!
