News just in,
All sports grounds in Hume city council that have been booked for practice matches this week have had had there bookings cancelled, Due to the heavy rainfalls today and predicted rain tomorrow, It is a bit of a shame for a few clubs that were looking at one last hit out before the season starts.
Does anybody know if any other councils have taken the same action?
Practice matches this weekend, all Saturday.
Taylors Lakes v Reservoir
Sydenham Hillside v St Marys
Keilor v Strathmore
Craigieburn v Sunbury

The only ground in the hume city council that is allowed to be played on is the new highgate reserve (richmonds new complex) at grand blvd craigieburn where the reserves start at 12 noon and the ones start at 2pm. crazyburn take on old rivals scumbury on the best surface in local footy. should be a large crowd considering there isnt any other games on in the region.News just in,

Rupertswood are a D D D D grade ammo side.Douttas must have had more than afew out or are they just sh#t and heading down to B grade where yhey belong......Rupertswood are a C Grade Amateur team.
Douttas must have had a few out.
Doutta went down to Rupo by 37 pts in the main match. Won the reserves and the under age match. About 4 goals in each game.
Hard to compare the standard of each league as I'm not familiar with Doutta's players. Rupo were missing a few players who I think will play first round.
Is it standard in your league to continually whinge about umpiring? Or is that just a Doutta trait? Disciplined teams win the big ones. Remember that fellas.
Well I am familiar with both clubs and yes both clubs had a number of key players out. But Doutta have no excuses, just beaten by a very disciplined young hard running team that wanted to win the ball at all costs and work hard of the ball for their team mates. Where Doutta continually ran forward of the footy and looked very complacent from the first bounce.
Umpires in the main game were from the Riddell League I think and I would have rated them 6/10, the reserves umpires (Rupo umpires) 4/10 and the thirds game (Rupo Umpires) 8/10.
Rupo players have ALL come through their juniors, the only foreigners involved are the new coach ex Avondale, his assistant and an ex captain from Avondale. Maybe Doutta also need to look in the own backyard and close the cheque book.Great to see that it is possible to create a good competitive team without having to lash out Huge amounts of cash to acheive success. Maybe some of the clubs should take a leaf out of the ammo way of doing things. Thoroughly enjoyed the day, watching three games of fast flowing footy
The only beef I have with the ammos is no beers or JB's during game day........not good.

So what kind of cheques have you arranged for your boys Bricksta, or are they playing for love?Money Money Money its a dirty word in local football as far as i am concerned..!
yep, you are correct on last year, but lets wait until mid season to see where everyone is at before making these assumptions...,Was there also and Doutta nead to be careful as they were lucky Oakers were there in 08. Perhaps Glenroy will also bless them in 09?
Don't necessarily agree there KFC, as I think that with Barnes you will get someone with footy connections & contacts, which is where I and the club fell away after Steve Kolyniuk left. I didn't have the necessary contacts, etc., to build the club, and that is where I failed terribly. I think that you do need to offer the money to get a high-profile such as Steve & John to help build the stocks. It worked with Steve, and we will see how John goes by season end. Just my opinion though. Cheers. Also when are presidents of sides going to realise there is no point spending $20,000 on a coach such as john barnes when you can get somebody who knows the local game and loves the club for free, then spend the $20,000 on player payments
glenroy are in for a longggg year.pacco gave em a 21 goal flogging, way they played on the weekend they wouldnt finish in the top 10 in B Grade. oak park should of stayed up
put avondale in the relegation mix based on their performance on sat. skills were woeful and they lacked fitness. im sure they would have been missing some key players but on that performance they need at least 10 players to come in fro round one.
also caught first half marby park. have some big blokes floating around. maybe a bit top heavy. also look to have spent fair amount of time in the gym. they should be in the finals mix.
anyone know where blackburn are from and how the game ended up? marby were locked in a tight struggle with them at half time.
strathmore flogged by keilor too. made heaps of skill errors and backline looked out of their depth.
