Agreed. No cap, 35 points for each team. Promoted team gets 45 for 1 year. That will make things competitive.

35 makes it impossible to fit in a Dream team regardless of how much you pay players unless they have been with your club for years, the extra 10 points will allow you to bring 3-4 players in to help promoted teams

I agree but think it should be 42 points for first season of promotion.

An extra 7 points is big when you consider you might pick up an extra 5-10 points when players drop a point as well.

Something worth investigating.

As for salary caps, drop it, if clubs over spend and poor money management and get into difficulties then that’s on the clubs committee. Clubs should only spend what they can afford. Times have changed and sponsorship will be harder to come by, a strict points cap of 35 makes it very difficult for dream teams and premierships to be brought

Don’t disagree but also think clubs that invest in there junior programs should be rewarded as well.

I think the points system works, but a few points less I think would enhance not hinder clubs
5 year (or more) straight players = zero points

Extra points for going up - agreed

I agree drop the points for all metro clubs each division between 30-35 points depending on where they finish, with promoted clubs to have an additional 6 points.

I'd keep the cap as is, straight across all metro with a cola like allowance for country clubs depending on how far they're outside Melbourne.
Maybe they could bring in 1 player per team as a marquee player, where their salary and points aren't included, but they have to stay 2 years, across the state.

AFL Vic need to implement a harsher points system for the ammos, how can the rest of the state be struggling, yet they're a free for all

Your thoughts have some merit, but is 5 points between the top five teams and the rest enough in your premier division for example? Do you do the same for the money they can pay as well?

How are you going to guarantee the player stays for 2 years?

Not sure what you mean by the ammo’s are a free for all. The best teams in the ammo’s have a huge pool of past students to draw from. Yes they draw a lot of ex afl players and even current VFL players by offering jobs, places at schools etc. St Kevin’s are the perfect example for one.

Well I can't see how the div 1 teams in the ammos could fit under the same points as the rest of the state.

It would be the same as the points allocated, for a marquee player, they are on the team sheet as the marquee player which means they stay for 2 years, if you understood thats what a marquee player, you'd know before you signed on, whether it be the player or club

Only a couple of months to go yet this forum is dead… I thought with a certain team up in prem, it might be a bit more lively 🤣

Ladder predictions? I’ll go first..

Aberfeldie
Pascoe Vale
Strathmore
Keilor

Greenvale
East Keilor
Maribyrnong Park
Avondale Heights
Glenroy
Doutta Stars

Reckon Gremlins just about spot on here

Probably a little Douttas bias kicking in, hoping rather than expecting them to avoid relegation unfortunately.

I don’t think much splits the top 3 at this stage, might come down to injuries and luck, but gone with Keilor because of the Mighty Mick factor.

Can’t wait for it to kick off and fingers crossed it’s an uninterrupted season

Lots of rumours about key personal leaving Keilor… a few old timers but I guess time will tell

Greenvale have picked up a Big key forward. Unlikely to play many games due to VFL commitments but if he does play could be unstoppable.
Is that Joel Ottavi. On Willys list but will definitely play games at GV. Gets to a few clubs as was at Keilor a few years back. But yeah he can definitely play. Gun forward at local level but bit inconsistent at higher level.

No was at St Bernard’s last year. Injury prone but his 6’5-6’6 and freak fitness

I don’t understand the point of this. If they only play a handful of games why bother.

If they are already at your club no drama, but why recruit them if they can’t play

Mustve had a good offer its a regular occurrence now..players can be valuable..cavka is a gun

He misses more games with injuries then he plays these days. Will be lucky to play 7 games I think.

There is no way the offer was higher than what a premier club would offer. He is on less than what he got in past years. Maybe he just wants to enjoy his footy with some mates I believe but yes his getting paid something of course.

Bashen, even 7 games in div2 would be great beneficial to KP.
