The culture is strong as evidenced by the fact many of the players are friends and or business partners outside the field of play. Ole Roos 77 do you realize most edfl div 1 or premier players could earn a lot more playing country footy than deer park or anyone in the edfl would or are paying them?. They do have a decent following and a lot of ex players from years gone by go and support them. Considering they don’t have a lot of juniors there following is pretty strong. To their credit they are working on juniors but it’s a challenge but they do have some teams. About 5 years ago they were enticing juniors with match payments which didn’t work but that person has moved to another club.

My comment was a rather innocuous one, essentially stating that people are drawn to some of these clubs by money (& in fairness, success), nothing you've stated counters that.

Might want to check your facts on crozier and georgiou winning flags last season, both played in the Bendigo league and did sweet eff all, they will be playing in the lunch time league

I don't know about that, at least one of their new recruits is getting a helluva lot more at Deer Park than he was in the country.
The telling factor will be how many return if the money ever does dry up.

Different story EDFL Premier, Deer Park & East Keilor won’t win a flag between them for the next 5 years. You need bulk cash, player rentention & juniors coming through that impact at the level. You can’t just buy an EDFL Premier Flag, even the bottom teams AH & EDS would be spending close to 200k and long way off the pace.

Gremlin, have you completely lost the plot? Deer Park are a serious contender and will be challenging for the premiership easily within 5 years if not in season 2024. EK are a fair way off still and personally see them not making top 4 in season 2024 which will be a drop from this year.

Yeah that’s the point Turbo!
All the clubs have had a turn at trying to buy one. Greenvale and Marby were successful at it in the last 20 odd years, but wasn’t a point system in play. EK, Deer Park and Pacco can spend as much as they want but unless they start developing their own or retaining players til they become 1 point then they will NEVER win one.
Keilor, Mores & Abers keep playing off because they have the best juniors and majority of recruits stay for many years, rather than a revolving door of mercenaries

Sure, they just haven't yet reaped the rewards of it flowing through to the senior side which is why they're at a disadvantage when contrasted with the Keilors, Mores etc.
