Naive post. Wake up
Why is it naive??
All you have is rumours and heresay. Do you have any proof to back up your theories.
Having meant a number of club presidents in this league they don’t seem like the type of people that would blatantly cheat just to win a flag. Some of this men are highly regarded in business in this city. You think they would risk all that for local sport.
I think maybe you should just dropped it and concentrate on season 2018. Could be a very exciting season with all 10 clubs realistic chance to play finals

Horse, for what it’s worth I kind of understand where you are heading but also need to remember that good successful businessmen sometimes take risks and go beyond boundaries to get that success. Yes I’m sure they all want to pull back spending but some do go over to fulfill a passion of getting their club a premiership. You only have to look at some recent winners to see the quality of players, and in some cases quality coaches that got them a premiership. I don’t want to name names but some bloody good footballers played in those sides. I recall a certain side who recruited a ruckman who absolutely dominated this comp..Think he only stayed 1 year but did what he was paid well to do..Plus they had another ex AFL player who was pretty dominate as well..Didn’t have many weaknesses in that side.. Yes there was no salary cap restrictions during that year but one of the reasons it was implemented to kind of level it out a bit..

Hey Bully, I see on the wrfl thread you are referring to the 2017 premiers. If that’s the case I would hate to see their budget for the 2015 premiership as that side was much stronger.. I know there wasn’t a cap in 2015 but gee that side was one of the best to run onto a footy field outside AFL/VFL..Surely paid 100k plus more in 2015 than what they paid in 2017.
Thoughts..

From my understanding all 3 clubs have been audited and cleared of any wrong doing after conducting a thorough checks and balances process.... Having said that an incorrect formula into an excel spredsheet cell is all it takes by any highly regarded business person! The salary cap is completely un controllable i dont care how much you all preach honest football volunteers mark my words there will always be someone trying to get an advantage. Just like Nova Peris daughter Lol

Very true on your last point and well explained. You didn’t quite nail the first part . 2 were ticked off after EDS stripped things right back in the 2nd half of the year . Pacco were ticked off right on the money (not sure About 2018 !! That’s for turbo). The premiers well that’s another story.

Very true Turbo but 2016 and before matters not as you said. 2017 is different. The stupid part about all this is how blatant some individuals are in their approaches to players . Straight out with it “ $1000 on the contract and 10k sign on “ or along those lines . It’s unashamed and unbelievable. You’d think more discretion would be shown.

We know Abers, Greenvale, Pacco, Keilor, Mores and Marby will be very strong again. I'm interested in how the other teams are going and what the expectations on them are
Doutta's
West Coburg
Avondale
Glenroy

Bang, I think Avondale will improve and go well. Yes they have lost Patty but maybe that will bring about more goals from a wider spread. McDonald at the helm will see them be very competitive imo.. A good coach is worth some wins alone..Second best coach behind McGuane..

You bang on about Mcguane being the best coach in the comp. in my opinion he has underachieved at his time at Keilor. 8 years for 2 flags. With a reasonable budget most of those years.
I’d rate 3-4 coaches above Mcguane in the EDFL in 2018.
Morrell
Potter
Chapman
McDonald
Are all better coaches

Started in 2008. Been there 10 seasons. Very good coach though.

Morrell very good coach and also obviously McDonald has good credentials but McGuane the best. Give him the budget of some of the bigger clubs and he would have won more premierships. He is a bit tight with his player payment offers to some players (and rightly so) but he gets a fair salary but imo is clearly the best coach. Ok yes move on horse.,

Any news from Bully re the apparent edfl meeting??

It’s continuing Turbo . Could take a week/weeks to finalise. Everything gets bloody legal these days . On the other debate how on earth can someone include Paul Chapman in a list of coaches better than Mick Mcguane ? Chapman has coached 2 years for 1 terrible result and 1 good one . Mcguane has coached for almost 20 years. Everyone needs to take prejudices towards individuals and clubs out of it when making comparisons. I realise we all see things differently but bloody hell some stuff I read is just rubbish.

Yes agree Bully. I’m no fan of Keilor and don’t necessarily have any attachments to McGuane but gee his so passionate and gives it his full commitment and just seems a level above. Haven’t heard him speak that many times but when I have it’s a different level to the majority of coaches.

Morrell is also a ripper.. Also like that his loyal and willing to take on jobs with clubs not necessarily with the top clubs. Got to like that as would have been offered better jobs and more money but takes on the challenge..Speaks very well and everyone I know always speak highly of him.

Potter doing well but has got a good list at his disposal as well as plenty of assistance and everything else. Would like to see how he would go coaching a lower ranked club before making further comment..

Anyway all coaches work dam hard and ALL should be given respect for the amount of time they put in these days. If you divided the hours they did by their salary I’m sure the hourly rate would be pretty low but it’s not all about the money..

Do you really think 10 clubs have a realistic chance to play finals?
Top five will be:
Abers
Greenvale
Marby
Keilor
Pacco

Three to five could change order. Bottom three in no particular order:
EDS
WC
Glenroy

EDS from the number of players that have left and the Unknown ability of those coming in.
I see them playing a lot of juniors over the season to help re build

Outback , yes 3 clubs investigated, but 3 clubs found to be in breach of the salary cap system.
2 for bad paperwork and 1 for bad calculations
If your kid goes to a school near Buckley St , find a good mathematics tutor
You are correct with your second point regarding the salary cap not being controllable.
One club person has just purchased a new car for a new player at their club.

i don't see Avondale improving.

They've lost Rose, O'Dwyer, Smith (?),Williamson, Jones, Durnan & Gilbert who were regular senior players. The first 3 named in their top 5 - 6 players last year.

Add to that Ford, Celano and that tests their depth even further.

Only notable pick ups at this stage Byrne and the 2 Carlton boys. I think that leaves their list inferior than what it was last season. Did notice that 2 sons of club stalwarts are back to play 19's. Could potentially push for senior footy

Add Ronaldson to the departures, back to Glenroy. That puts Glenroy up and EDS down on the ladder. Presumably he is a 1 pointer for Roys so great for the points cap.

Am told he is a contracted player wont be going anywhere me thinks
