The argument metro footy team v amatuers has been ongoing for years. For mine the strength of a comp is the spread between 1st division to 2nd division. This season in EDFL I think it is fair to say a couple of teams would challenge for top five spots???
Airport West - massive signings Harris, Contessa, Wiggins, Deluca would walk into any Div 1 team plus other recruits.
West Coburg - Added some names this week with Taleb, Atik and Rabee Haouchar plus the quality already there.
One thing for certain is the quality of the 2nd division will be really good and something other comps could not match and I am only an observer from another comp.

Thought Rabee had retired? Or at least thats what the Greenvale players thought when they made a guard of honour and clapped him off last game against Abers

Exactly right, the league is much better for his imput. His close friendships with assorted coaches and players throughout the league will make him the best person to do a top 50, due to him having better inside knowledge than most.

Matt is currently on EDFL Board - what do we expect from these blokes? I would have thought positive promotion of our league first & foremost!! Promoting your club & the league is a tough gig so any extra help is appreciated as far as I am concerned.
As for Matt passing on the baton in regards to top 50 - you have to be kidding. Who else has a better understanding & would be better connected??? you only have to look at this forum to see how it has died away since Matt went to NFL for a season.
I believe Matt is a guest MC at Keilor on Friday.

Fair enough, i didnt realise he was back involved with the EDFL, just thought that with his involvement with the NFL he wouldnt have seen much footy and would have thought even speaking to coaches would be hard to judge without seeing matches each Saturday, but now he is back where he belongs I agree there is no better man to do the top 50.
Matty has done a fantastic job over the years promoting the "whole" EDFL. He is back in the EDFL after 1 year in the NFL. He has gained valuable experience and will implement new concepts/Ideas to what is already a great league.
The EDFL is lucky to have the great man back.
His knowledge is outstanding and is well liked in both A grade and B grade.
The media department will be alot better/professional with Matty helping and the EDFL board will have NEW ideas to take the league forward.

Big crowd today saw Strathmore have a very comfortable 16.10 to 9.8 win over Keilor. The Mores looked very strong, particularly their on ball brigade and never looked like losing as they were 5 goals up after 15 minutes. Margin got out over 10 goals during the 3rd quarter.
With Reynolds and Zantuck to come back in they are going to be pretty hard to toss. Not sure if Keilor are missing many, but they looked a bit undermanned. They had a fair few young blokes in who tried really hard and fought on to the end as Keilor always do. They will only get better as the season goes on.
Match lacked a bit in atmoshere as there was always a large disparity in the scores. All the same it's good to have the local footy back.

Silver didn't play as he hasn't been cleared by his former club. Iacabucci played a good game, without being dominating. Other recruits Horne and Arrowsmith also played well.

By all reports young gun Steven White is firinig for the lions at the moment, said to be the player to stop generating run off the half back line, huge pre season, can anyone confirm or deny?
