EDFL Premier Division 2017

Have checked some stats in terms of players missing games as surely this helps with the salary cap when they do.
Clubs paying near 100% would have factored in injuries and suspensions to there higher paid players, although its a bit of a gamble.
Aware its depends on which players miss so have added some names i think would be among the higher paid bracket at certain clubs (GUESSING) who have missed 3+ games.
My point is player A on $1000 per game gets replaced by player B on $300 per game saving money for that week then hopefully loading up towards the business end of the season.
Abers have had 8 players play every game, missing large quantity of games Carboni Johns N Cattapan.
Keilor 10. McGuanne Cavka Ogden missing games.
Strathmore 6. McIntosh Little Tye missing games.
Pacco 8. Foster Anderson Urquahart missing games
Greenval 10. N Maric Deluca Chapman? missing games.
Marby 9. Pretty even spread.
Douttas! I wont go there.

This is crystal ball stuff isn't it?

Firstly - you have no idea what these players are paid - nor would 98% of people involved in the EDFL. I wouldn't know if Anderson at Pacco is on $1,500 or $900.

Secondly - not sure what club would have built a model forecasting Player X to be injured (or suspended) in Rnd 5 and Player Y to be injured in Rnd 6 etc.

There's a science behind it but I don't believe it would include forecasting injuries and suspensions.

Is your point more along these lines - are clubs using player points and match payments in match committee each week to make decisions?

Puffpuff, I don't think it's all crystal ball stuff. Some on here would have a fairly accurate view on player payments.
If some have been involved in that area ( contract negotiations) at their own club, if player x, y, z turned down certain offers at your club to sign with another, similar players to yours at other clubs who have been known to spend a bit more. These things give some a range to go on.

You'd have a rough idea give or take a hundred or two I'd say.

Yes no one knows 100% but I'd say some on here are closer to the mark than not.

Puff its bloody annoying when people don't read a post properly and jump on just to have a crack at someone. See I wrote "GUESSING" in big capital letters.
That means I'm not stating I think I know what players are on I was simply stating the higher paid players who have missed games. Surely we all know who are the top 6-8 paid players at every club without being directly involved in that club. Injuries, suspension, rest or otherwise. Clubs wouldn't mind there higher paid players missing the odd game. And yes it comes into play at the selection table.

Any thoughts on Marby a sneaky chance for 2nd spot over the next few weeks?

Had they beaten Pascoe Vale last week then this week would've given them every chance to almost jump Greenvale this weekend.
Can't see it happening now with Greenvale & Abers two games clear and Greenvale already playing Strathmore and Abers twice.

Any truth to the rumour that Douttas have lost their major sponsor and the person who helps the sponsor. Believe it's over this player payment mess..It will be interesting to see if they can afford to pay all their players even the ones now on 20% less.
People on here saying Douttas unaware of payment, salary cap issues months ago and that they don't have money issues need to get down to Douttas tonight and ask the right people. It's bad boys and not getting better. Passing the hat around and asking for donations I hear.. Wiping Windscreen's and preforming juggling acts at street lights is not making enough..

Also hear some other clubs are "possibly" going to be over the cap but told to manage it the best they can and most importantly be in a position to pay their players as per agreed. However if they don't manage it to a reasonable level there will be consequences. Watch this space!!! If a team happens to win it without trying to wind back payments it will be a case like the Melbourne Storm but will include out of premier division.
Will this mean 2 division 1 teams "could" be promoted next season?? Stay tuned..

Well there's one thing we do know for sure.
You won't be down there this week identifying yourself.
Keep sniping lionheart.

How long till you post "reread my earlier post you have misread what I said"
Grow a set

Ok tough guy.. Answer these simple question for the readers. I will only give you 3 as your appear very agitated!

1- Are Douttas the only club that has meet with the league regarding having issues staying under the salary cap? If not then why is Douttas the only club to dock players wages 20% without consent or giving them options to move clubs?

2- Was anyone at Douttas aware of this prior to clearances closing?

3- How many Douttas officials turned up to the meeting with the EDFL on Wednesday night??

Well thank you Turbo. Not that tough just not overly impressed with little keyboard worriers throwing crap at people, especially when they are so far away from fact it is laughable. You are absolutely renowned for it thou so it gets taken into account.
I'll try to work through your short Q&A session.
First one a bit tough but I presume you mean "met" when you wrote "meet"
It's a 2 part question and as i couldn't possibly know the answer to the first part the second part becomes a little mute.
Having said that the second part is factually incorrect so this is going down hill pretty quick.

2 Cant really answer for what anyone did or didn't know. Unlike you I'm not going to just make stuff up. I would say that I am pretty comfortable stating things probably should have been handled better. Clearance dates would never have been a factor in my humble opinion. It's just poor form to suggest the timing was in anyway connected to the way things played out.
You're a great mudslinger but none of it sticks as no one actually has any respect for what you say. Too many backflips over a sustained period.
It may well be that the timing of things came about by a push for compliance in letter form from EDFL the day before action was taken.

3 2 I believe.

Now that was 4 questions superstar but given throwing facts around isn't one of your strong points I won't hold you accountable for not having a great counting ethos.

You have a great day champ. Getting in the trenches with the likes of you would go real well.

Perhaps selection tonight at EDS might give an indication on who has officially walked and who has accepted the 20% pay cut and prepared to play on. Might dispel or vindicate some of the commentary written over the past couple of weeks.

I would suggested both EDS and PV would be disappointed that this weeks game doesn't have any real significance in terms of a top 4 position as both would have had top 4 spots earmarked at the season beginning. Its all about pride now............

Notthisagain, Well structured reply and agree, lets enjoy the last few rounds of footy and let the year play out. It'll be what it'll be! You obviously are close and passionate about the club. Did a couple of players walkout over match payments? and Are Doutta's in a bit of trouble and at risk of relegation if that's the penalty? Hopefully the calculator has been pulled out and that's the solution to meet the salary cap obligations by the club.....One in ALL IN!! Thats what footy clubs are about.

Cheers
Yep passionate but to be honest the pot shots from blokes who think they know just get under my skin.
Things I'm told are well back in order.
I am not 100% of where it has landed player wise. Selextions tonight will tell a story I suppose.
Absolutely no doubt both PV and Douttas would be disappointed with where they are at ladder wise.
As you say One in All in and when you are in this situation you learn a lot about people. Hopefully the playing group stand up this week.

Don't fall in too him mate, he quite clearly makes it up as he goes and I can only assume he is trying to get a rise out Douttas people.
Hopefully a few kids picked tonight and a strong team for a good performance Saturday. Would be great to get a win and begin to put a bad fortnight behind us.

Doutta were so concerned about the salary cap issue that at the EDFL meeting last week not one EDS member attended. They have lost a few players already I believe and others are scouting for next season. Since the heat is on and some have left all players have been told there getting there full payments now.

If your son 77, sorry hanger77 is going to give you information make sure it's correct before you make public comments. Do you really think an EDS member has not attended a meeting in regards to this matter... please!! As previous posts have said let's see who gets named in tonight's squad to see all these players that have left.

Not taking sides but given the personal attack and grammatical corrections I think you meant 'moot point' rather than 'mute point'

Just saying.

Just a horrible way to go about things for a club playing EDFL premier. The news didn't take long to go around so guessing Douttas will struggle to recruit players for next season as these things can take years to recover from.

Yes champ you show good fight in you, but if only you were told the facts. I think the bye week came at a good time for you. Whichever you look at it you can't defend the club on how they have managed this. The main thing is they knew early on they would struggle to stay within the cap ( as per some other clubs) but seeing they couldn't make finals decided to "shaft" the players. That's weak in my book!!
Now you use a line ONE IN ALL IN, haha. So someone decides to jump off the cliff you all jump off. Nah not me! You stuff up (most likely not by accident but greed) then you jump and we carry on.
Please explain to me why ALL players should accept a 20% cut? I prefer the "courageous" method of giving feedback to players and if some aren't preforming to expectations then maybe those few should be offered a reduced payment or given an option to move on prior to clearances and you start to look towards next year. 20% cut to a player not performing is maybe acceptable to offer but what if a player is giving his all every week? What if a player is already playing for unders!!

Anyway it was boring on here over the bye weekend.

As Scott Palmer would say "keep on punching on"..

Pacco been boosted with some good news, so expect them to come out and beat a Douttas team who will play at only 80% effort. Lol

Spot on. I think he also meant " little keyboard warriors" rather than "little keyboard worriers". That may have been the auto correct, but it is risky attacking someone on Internet forums for grammatical errors. It can come back to bite.
