EDFL Premier Division 2017

If it's all about honesty you now claim to be a player and on an earlier post you claimed to be a parent.
Very confusing.
My son is the player. Why you want to offer me money to keep my mouth shut also. We didnt ask for this, EDS are saying its the EDFL but everyone has called the EDFL and nothings is inforced until next season. EDS knew that they had money issues and couldnt pay players BEFORE this email as other players have told us that they were told. Stop sticking up for doutta and admit you have shifted your players.

Any other clubs not paying there contracted agreed amounts to there players atm????? No not one

You and newatthis will be pleased to know that all of us volunteers (we're the people that make sure your son is able to have a game of suburban football every Saturday) had a meeting and agreed to a pay cut as well.
Simmsy you are a good man and do so much for the club you love. However, the players agreed to a paycut only after the threat of not being selected for the next game. This sort of duress is unacceptable. I can't believe how poorly this whole thing has been handled by all those that hold positions of responsibility at the club. As a parent of a current player I feel so dissapointent and compeled to say something.

Hey Simmsy, I can't help but respond to this. When are volunteers getting a payment?? Volunteer means you are volunteering your services, which usually don't come with a pay cheque. I'm a bit confused.

What would people do in their 9-5 job if an employer came up to employees and said right I need you all to take a 20% pay cut. Wow it would spell disaster for a company. Most would either start looking for new employment or they would put in less effort and most wouldn't be enjoying there workplace environment.

And another thing to blame the EDFL salary cap is laughable. Every club knew what the cap was way prior to the season starting. So you need to work out the numbers and balance the books correctly. Surely you can't blame the cap "if" it was decided to spend more than the cap prior to the season. If this was the case it spells mismanagement and disaster..We all have calculators buddy, or you can now use an iPad or iPhone to add numbers. Lol

100% agree Turbo the EDFL didnt introduce the cap 4 weeks ago. 250K divided by 18 rounds = 13,888.88 per week thats $631.31 per player per week. Surely these clubs sit down and put their highest paid and highest point players down on paper as if they are going to feild their best team all year. I would describe that as the worst case scenario. If this maximum calculation puts a club at 280K and 52 points then cut players or dont recruit or better still swallow an anti ego pill and play the young guns who r 1 pointers and cost 150 per week. Cheap investment for the future i woyld have thought. Not sure this is a difficult thing to do or have I totally missed the simplicity? Is it ego from senior club officials who think they can get away with it or officials not knowing simple maths? Please explain Pauline!

Hey Simmsy not good when pensioners like your self have to take a pay cut. Maybe you and a couple of other volunteers can walk around the ground with a blanket at half time. I'm sure some of the good folk of pvfc can spare some loose change.

Surely it's ego driven.

I remember it being mentioned what would happen if players are shafted by clubs and investigated by the league and a club is found to be paying over the cap. A league will surely make a stance and punish a club to make statement around the country.. Let's remember this side has:
- 2015 Liston medal winner
- probably the best fullback in the comp ( behind Allan from Abers but his known to play CHB as well)
- an ex AFL full forward
- a couple of other ex AFL players
- one of the best mids in Allan
- Add in Shylo
- Plus a local product who recently played VFL for Footscray.

That's a decent list of 8 names with all but 1 player being a homegrown..

However yes I admit other teams have gun players as well but most of these players were recruited within the last 2 years.

The focus here is on Douttas but you can rest assured they will have company soon . In fact Douttas , whilst totally embarrassed by their miscalculations and the predicament they have put their club in , have at least tried to address the situation the best way they can . Several other Premier clubs are in the same boat yet have to this time ignored Marc Turri's letter . The Douttas issue isn't a shortage of funds it's salary cap mismanagement. But , again they are NOT alone.

Do tell mr know it all !

A bit of common sense at last.
No one is happy about this and it had to be addressed and has.
Seriously Turbo throwing in Cachia's name. I'm sure his club are well under. Come on. That could be the worst case scenario anyone could put in. Douttas had a chance with him and passed as the cost was too high
Anyway the issue has been brought to the fore and is being worked thru.
Please don't think for 1 minute that there aren't a few more clubs in a similar or worse position.
Newatthis after throwing all his hand grenades seems happy with his work and has slunk off into the background.
Wonder if it was his iPhone calculator that was playing up.

Was wondering if you'd reply mate. Have a lot of respect for you and coming out and saying something means a lot. There's a spot up in Wallan for him. :)

Newstthis, can you explain how it's possible for Douttas to only learn now that they're breaching the salary cap ?
It's almost impossible to not get it right unless the club was aware what it was getting itself in to from day dot.

We know you have no affiliation with any club Newatthis but if you could fill us in on how the sums are so far out it would be quite helpful.

If the league is serious about getting the salary cap right then they won't cop Miscalculation as a reason for breaching it and should punish accordingly.

The salary cap is hard to police so they need to come down hard on those clubs that do cheat so it deters all clubs going forward.
