Keilor are still the team to beat for mine. Round 1 against eds means nothing to me. There prolific and got just as many guns as eds. can't wait for tomorrow's clash. Eds and Keilor there is such a healthy rivalry in the last 6-8 years. It's really built on quality and respect, some of the cleanest and high quality games.

Head to Head since 2010
Keilor 6
Ess Doutta Stars 9

Including 3 preliminary finals. Being decided by less that 10 points either time. Must be proud of all the boys who have played amazing effort.

I went to the Metro vs Country match yesterday because I had a work party that night in St Kilda and needed a few hours to fill my day.
Ok so i thought the EDFL boys did good, but three of them in particular stood out Hitch, Podhajski and Rayner.
Hitch- fantastic hard at it midfielder that can also play deep in the backline. Great skills and understands the game better than most. Worked hard from the start of the game until the end, he should be happy with his game
Podhajski- surprised me the most out of everyone, got at least 20 disposals (with nearly all effective) playing off the half back line and managed to keep his man goaless throughout the game. Also is fantastic and intercept marking with his strong hands.
Rayner- he played midfield most of his game which surprised me initially considered the amount of smaller players they had, but it worked out well with his big strong body, got a lot of it with I'd say 15-20 disposals. Great game by Rayner.

Caluzzi just missed out on being in the best 3 as I thought he was being played out of position playing deep backline. Balta did very little with glimpses of skill. Mo was disappointing but for right reasons, his knee is still playing up. Was that Darren Walters I saw playing??? Also Hanna, played great, can take big strong marks especially in the first quarter.

Great summary take a bounce.

Good to see a great representation from the EDFL

Interesting looking at some team sheets already in for today's games. Pretty sure the boys who played yesterday were instructed NOT to play today.

Canplaythisguy it will be interesting to see who ends up winning the gf. So far EDS have been smashed with injuries and Abers are not far behind them. Luckily for keilor they have escaped too many long term injuries. I don't believe what has happened over the past 5 years is overly relevant with I do like your research. In my opinion if all sides had a full side to pick from(which is unrealistic) I would have EDS v Abers in gf with EDS prevailing in a tight one.
If the post are correct about metro v country game we may be missing quite a few stars for the national championships in June(I believe).

Oh absolutely I no its irrelevant to today's game. But I thought it was just important to see how good these contests have been over the years

Went to West Coburg vs abers today. Credit to aberfeldie who fought very well with a few players out. West coburg were very weak early and basically for the whole first half, kicking very poorly and wasting chances along the way. Although in the second half they switched on and really dominated, especially in the last quarter (kicking against the wind). Wind was favouring one end strongly the whole game. West coburg out ran them and looked great when moving the ball. Seemed very capable playing on a big ground to my surprise. Credit to abers who kept fighting and played well with some big names out but credit to coburg who really out classed them in the second half. Interesting to see fixtures for next week, any ideas what the Edfl might pull out?

Footylover229 who would know what the edfl will do. They don't know what they are doing.
That is a thorough summary of the abers v wc game. Might need to get you to do a regular report on the games. Did any of metro boys play for all teams. Any other results known

had the pleasure to go and watch the match between EDS and keilor it was a unbelievable match. Mo kicked 8 but stayed down forward all day, douttas guns once again stood up Ben Caluzzi really led his troops kicked 4 and was awesome early! But cam rayner was in a class of his own marking anything that came near him and also booted 4, he took a match defying mark and I would rate it as one of the better marks I have ever seen in junior footy, keilor players were spitting at the EDS staff which was a bit disappointing and more injuries with Ivan Pavlovic going down with a dislocated knee. I am starting to wonder how would EDS be without rayner and caluzzi we will see in weeks to come.

Football 1993. It seems west meadows got a strong win against cragieburn. Not sure if cragieburn were cocky as they got blown out in the first quarter. Or if west meadows truly outclassed them. Anybody got some info? In abers v wc, I didn't see Daniel Hannah or Mitch but not entirely sure on others. I'd be happy to give reviews on games I make it too so be ready to continue hearing from me in the future.

Greenvale 1st up winners in Div 2........there must be a huge difference between Div 1 and Div 2?

I would have to say I thought westmeadows would be competitive against the bottom half but did not see them coming out and thrashing craigieburn. Well done westmeadows. More than happy to admit when I'm wrong and I was wrong.
Looking forward to your reviews.

Caluzzi kicked 5 in big game eds v keilor today and in my opinion b.o.g. 4 in first quarter that set up match winning lead and kept going all day. Cam Rayner too was amazing and difficult to split them. Couldn't agree more re. raynor's match saving mark, brilliant.I think he bagged 3 too. The two best players in the comp along with mo. If keilor had of got up would of had to have given it to Mo who was simply awesome. Given the whole forward fifty to work his magic in and his 8 goals were a pleasure to watch. Nearly got em over the line.
Luca Riboni and Chad Sir played big games.Noah Balta too. Keilor had many good contributors, Caines very strong and gave his all. Lucky for eds Hitch didn't play.Although I believe that eds had some good ones out too including McBride and Scully. Really missing big Johnny R. Hope he recovers well for next season.
A great game and no doubt when they meet in the finals it will be a cracker.

Wouldn't say there is a huge difference if westy could beat craigieburn, I'm sure there are others in div 2 that could do the same.
Was also at the game at Keilor was quite nailbiting especially towards the end. Douttas led all day, but Keilor wouldn't stop coming, credit to Mo from Keilor such a smart and skillful player.
Caluzzi had bog written all over him, both sides were missing key players, so will be interesting to see how the teams go at near full strength. Well done douttas

I see douttas vic boys played today but Hitch didn't play for Keilor according to team sheet. Was he injured or elect not to play? Hope injury is the case. For the reason that it could send the wrong message to team mates. Congrats on a week fort out game to both. Team first footy

What a weekend of results.
Junior football played with this quality is a pleasure to watch. I am super proud of each individual that has played 16 div 1 football this season. There is such quality in this age group blows me away! Credit goes to the coaches and families for such great well spirited players.

Keep working hard clubs!

i went to watch the U15 trials yesterday so didn't watch any local footy as was soaked!!! thought all the EDFL boys did well in difficult conditions. Bytel didn't play (due to concussion previous week?). Surprised to see the list released today and not see more EDFL boys in it (Hazik & Evans particularly). Congratulations to Bytel, West & Browning on making the team.

Evans actually played in the west coburg game so not sure if he tried out or not?
