That's the mail i have that players are confused by positional changes and nervous they'll be dropped for any mistakes. We have to remember, they play for sheep stations at this age!!!

Don't know about kids being confused but I think in today's game the 2nd qtr backline pretty much became Abers forward line and got them back into the game so that says this is a good side capable of playing deep in finals?

On another point raised i would have thought that Abers playing so many through their div 1 team is a positive thing for all concerned - multiple boys getting an opportunity to play at the highest level - and this has been the case for a number of years. Funny how some call that out as a negative

Clearly they try to have as many players as they can qualify for Div 1 & Div 2 finals. If the Div 1 side is not playing, they can have a stronger Div 2 side in finals.
Did the same thing last season & Div 3 team won flag.

I'm all for rewarding kids if they play well to be moved up to Div 1, but not a systematic thing to help second side in finals.

Abers were poor first 2 qtrs and 2nd to every contest, then turned up for 3rd qtr and pretty even last qtr. Don't think Abers were in front until last qtr? End to end stuff and probably 3-4 quality players in each team made this a better game than it would have been otherwise. Keilor much better marshalled and prepared than Abers today. Heard club people from both sides say they had players missing. Interesting for me was a Keilor u18 player umpiring this game. He was pretty annonymous in first 2 qtrs, then became very prominent in last 2 qtrs with some very dubious calls. Surely there had to be a conflict of interest here and the edfl should have taken away any possibility of conspiracy theories by allocating umpire another game?

Said it a couple of weeks ago that Strathmore were building. Not a pretty game plan but obviously effective. Bottom age players really playing well. I saw that West was named today. Did he play?

I spoke to an Abers Dad whom Im friends with this morning and he said he didn't see anything wrong with the umpiring at all?
In fact he said he thought it was pretty fair all day? He said an Abers player got pinged for Jumper holding in the last qtr which ended in a free kick to the Keilor Ruckman but only a point resulted from it.
His view was that Keilor were just better prepared and were harder at it for most of the day and that Keilor ran harder and moved the ball much better, apparently a few big name Abers players didnt produce much, which might be a positive for them come finals

First part of your post is a 2nd hand annonymous opinion. I watched from the Keilor side with my mate who had a son playing for Keilor. There were at least 12 dubious decisions that neither of us saw the same way as the umps that went the way of Keilor. The 4 Abers parents i spoke to after the game also agreed that Keilor probably deserved the win but were also unhappy with the ump.

I see that Abers got solidly beaten by Hillside today, but I haven't heard any news? Were you there Fast?
What unfolded throughout the day? What was different to the last time they played when Abers beat Hillside?

I went and watched Strathmore and Abers today! The Mores Handled the conditions much better than Abers!
Abers in fact looked very ordinary having not scored in both the 2nd and 3rd qtr! They don't look half the team they did earlier in the year, they look very down trodden!
Strathmore just cracked in harder all day
Abers have Craigieburn next week and on their current form they are no certainties!
Tye Browning will be back from Vic Metro duties so that will certainly bolster them

Strathmore might have moved into flag favourites !! ( I heard that from my mates Parrot )

I heard that Jaksyn Grant made his comeback for Hillside yesterday which is great news for the kid
The final series should brighten up with a few players to come back for the 3 top teams
Jaksyn Grant for Hillside
Taylor and Radanovic for Keilor
And West is sure to play for Strathmore, should all make for an interesting finals series

I'm happy to be corrected here but have been told it's to do with harassing via social media more so than striking.
Not sure if it's originally the cause and that's why it's listed that way.
Massive suspension so must have been pretty ordinary but really don't know any facts just what I've heard

Social media, well what's the world coming to. Next we will be suspended from big footy.
Wouldn't have happened to players from from other clubs. I will say it again the tribunal has lost its way and plays favourites. Disgrace!!

A cowardly punch after the game resulted in a broken cheek and surgery for oponent then the banned player was BRAGGING on social media about what he did and wished worse on his oponent. Deserves everything he got in my book. Hopefully a deterrent for other young players that think coward punches are something to aim for and brag about.

report and suspension is about an under 16 boy who had nose / cheekbone broken by a hit from behind - in a scuffle after the final siren - no one wants that to happen at any level let alone at junior sport - I understand the media stuff is how the kid was identified as the perpertrator - King hits have no place in sport ever

I usually like your posts on other forums in here, but you are so wrong and now sound childish with the Keilor statement.

There is more to it. Hillside kid has been up for MULTIPLE tribinals this season, all for coward punches or off the ball shit. According to you, that's okay and it's a conspiracy that aids Keilor!!! It was actually 10 weeks for the coward punch and another week for the social media. Are we now condoning this kind of shit because it suits someones shit stirring agenda? There can NEVER be a defense for cowards punches, whether at footy or in life.
