Not really - we need both.Does it matter if he’s a KPD or KPF?
That makes it hard, those type of lockdown KPD's don't tend to go early unless they're also good at intercepting and distributing. I'd argue DGB has it within him to do it, but if his height is shorter than what's listed (eDPS theorised 192 cm I believe) he might have a hard time against the 200cm types (King twins, Thilthorpe, etc.)I believe they need a tall defender capable taking the oppositions number one tall forward.
Collins is good, and excels at taking intercept marks, but is a bit on the short side.
Yeah, it might be an older photo, but he doesn’t look anywhere near as tall or wide as Logan McDonald. That makes it hard, those type of lockdown KPD's don't tend to go early unless they're also good at intercepting and distributing. Cox might be an option however, would be interesting to see whether people would think he's worth a possible top 6 selection

haha yep, that's the photo I mentioned to DPS when I said O'Driscoll is looking closer to 190 than 187. Hard to put the exact hype but you look at some decent AFL defenders Dylan Grimes (193 cm), Nathan Broad (192 cm), Jeremy Howe (190 cm), Dane Rampe and James Sicily (190 cm) that play a similar hybrid defender style and it's not a hindrance if players have the athleticism and game sense to beat opponents, but I doubt we see DGB as a KPD that takes the best KPF from other teamsYeah, it might be an older photo, but he doesn’t look anywhere near as tall or wide as Logan McDonald.

Can Grimes match up on a Hawkins or Dixon?haha yep, that's the photo I mentioned to DPS when I said O'Driscoll is looking closer to 190 than 187. Idk can't say I watch much Richmond, but no I don't think DGB is ever gonna be a player to play on the power/ really tall forwards of the compCan Grimes match up on a Hawkins or Dixon?
Can any of those defenders match up on a 200cm+ King twin in a couple of years?
I don’t know which defender would best suit being a number one key defender.Idk can't say I watch much Richmond, but no I don't think DGB is ever gonna be a player to play on the power/ really tall forwards of the comp
Cox or Reid for me.I don’t know which defender would best suit being a number one key defender.
MacRea not in you're top 25? What's the reason you don't rate him highly
He is there abouts with about another 10 players at least, it’s an even crop this year and a lot harder now to gauge where the Victorian kids sit.MacRea not in you're top 25? What's the reason you don't rate him highly
He plays differently to both Martin and Newnes imo. Can play as a rebound defender or as a dangerous marking target up forward.i do really rate henry, but carlton have literally just filled that type of role this year with getting martin and newnes, they need help for cripps and they have said it themselves, and after yesterday it shows.
Also they have plenty of big inside mids developing to play that role to relieve Crippsi agree, i just don't think that is what they need, but we have our opinions. love your work
I’m backing them all in to do it next year and certainly all of them will be ahead of any potential mid they could draft this year.IMO - setterfield with his injury history wont be the inside mid they wanted, philp and stocker have a chance, dow is a no, kemp we have to question mark until a few years time, therefore leaving nothing for the now. murphy will leave soon as well. your post suggests they have depth to 'relieve' cripps, my opinion is they need someone to 'help' cripps.

I haven’t given up on Dow
Carlton fans i know still have hope on dow, me not so much. I’ve been telling them for years Plowman is no good and they’ve only just started to come to the realization (and Carlton just gave him a new 3 year deal).P.Dow is terrible to watch, he would have to transform himself into a new player to be any good at AFL level imo.
Carltons big hope is Kemp coming back next year and playing good footy.
