Oh so we'd lose him for free?
I should have known that.
Still couldn't blame him for leaving at that rate.

Wouldn't lose him for free, but it wouldn't be pick 2 unless he went to the second bottom team..

I wouldn't be worried about him leaving anyway. Everyone who has been talked about leaving in the media has signed on within the month..

He cant just leave, he is contracted..
Paul Connors would have to threaten to take it down the messy yet familiar (see Ryder) road of breaking the contract due to the saga.
This is unlikely as it potentially unlocks plenty of ugly possibilities as well as truths for the AFL etc so the most likely out come if he wants to go is an 'amicable' trade..
We would then end up with Richmond's pick 9 (calling it early)..

He'd have to take us to court though.

Easier, more logical way to get out would be for a club to offer us a token first rounder to expedite the process.

Yes, I had a hard time to put in as much sarcasm and hate in the post but couldn't find a way

Edit: I really don't like vickery and would never want him in black and red

Would be awesome if we signed him and delisted him in the same trade period..
(This saga has taught me to find positives in every situation)

Just give Hurley what he wants is all I'm saying would hate to lose him because we came up short also I can see now why the club is in talks about keeping Dea.
Awesome post... Full of insight... Let's not worry about Parrish, Langford, Laverde, Francis, this years first pick, Fantasia, tippunwutti, merest etc when their contracts come up over the next few years.

Dont want to lose him but if we are forced to pay premiums to retain our veterans, we won't be able to keep what is the most exciting crop of youth the clubs had in 20 years.

In 12 months time we will have a premiership crop of youth.

If lose him then so be it I just don't want us to be bent over in not getting nothing in return also Paul Connors is his manager and I'm worried he will use the 'get out clause' just like he did with Ryder.

Quick question, who would people on here de-list if they had to tomorrow?

Ashby
Hams
Jerrett
Edwards
Kommer
Gwilt
Forgetting contract status, all of them bar probably Gwilt. And Ambrose as well.
What's this shit about Robbo saying that Hurley is 50/50 at staying?
Literally 3 weeks ago when Hooker re-signed he said Hurley was a certainty to come back.

He's the all Australian full back... Why wouldnt we get anything in return? At his age he is worth 2 x first round draft picks or a top 3 pick.

I don't want to lose him but losing him whilst adding another Parrish or Laverde / Langford combo brings us closer to a realistic crack at the next flag.

lol sports reporters. Is there a more pointless profession? They talk complete bullshit.

They hedge their bets, make predictions that they profess as being the truth and are completely unaccountable when the chips fall.

HOOKER TO FREO, 100% GONE ESSENDON IN CRISIS.

HOOKER STAYS, WELL SHIT, ISN'T THAT INTERESTING.

WHILE WE'RE AT IT, LET'S SAY HURLEY IS ABOUT 40/60 TO GO. YEP, THAT SOUNDS PROVOCATIVE

I LOVE MY JOB...

They still did a trade for Ryder getting us #17 Langford and #37 Cooney

Not really. He has shown next to nothing and weights bugger all. Steak knifes is normally someone who has shown a little
He's shown plenty in the VFL but to a side that need a lockdown defender (GC, Brisbane) he could be attached to a deal to get it over the line.

On the day hooker signed on, Robbo said on 360 that Hurley was a certainty to return to us. Make up your mind Robbo you campaigner
