10.4.2 Siren Heard by Field Umpire
Play in each quarter shall come to an end when any one of the field Umpires or emergency field Umpire hears the siren.

10.4.3 Signal
A field Umpire shall signal that they have heard the siren by blowing a whistle and holding both arms above their head.

I'm not even sure myself.

The big issue is when did the umpire hear the siren, before or after? Something along those lines happened a while back, a player clearly kicked a score after the siren, but as the umpire didn't hear the siren until after he kicked it, it is technically a goal.

The Fitzy goal was closer than that situation I reckon.

It's a shame noone knows the rules of the game enough to ask the umpire....

That's what the rulebook says but in practice the AFL will overturn match results half a week later if the umpire doesn't hear the siren. So in reality, the siren does end the match.

In reality, how is the umpire supposed to hear the siren if the siren isn't able to be heard?

he's played for a host of clubs, mainly Doveton & St. Kilda City.
At the moment he's reported to be playing for Moonee Valley after Port Colts gave him the flick.
He'll takle the highest offer, good luck to any team dumb enough to want a person like that.
I've played against him, he tells his teams mates that if they cost him any money (paid by game, plus goals kicked), he'll have them dropped.
Can say without any doubt, he wouldn't be invited to many past players days.

In 2009 he called my club, asked if they were looking for a full forward, $1500 a game, plus $100 a goal. My club told him where to go.\

One last thing, if you stand in his hole, he'll go for your eyes, since him do it twice, copped it once myself and he has been reported a few times for doing it.

also can't forget hutchy's baulk and goal. i only caught the highlights and the last quarter, but in the last hutchy took a mark inside 50 with his arms outstretched, and from what i recall, contested. I was shocked. Was he a decent junior?
