Mod Note:

I've removed a large number of posts from the last day or so that is mainly speculation without any factual basis and broader discussion on the issue of DV.

I want to bring this thread back on track and reiterate the scope of the discussion to be:
*new developments in the Taylor case as more facts get reported
*ramifications of such facts on Taylor's future at the club and the Swans
*subsequent actions the Swans should take

If you want to talk about the sociology around the issue of DV more generally there's sure to be many appropriate threads on the Society, Religion, Politics board.

There's no reason for oppo posters to be weighing in here, there's a thread on the main board about the exact same topic.

From here on posts that are simply speculating without any factual backing are going in the bin. This includes:
*any posts speculating on the outcome of Taylor's guilt/innocence - he's presumed innocent until found guilty, we know as it stands there are serious allegations of DV against him, there's going to be a hearing on September 30. Without further fact and information, no one's in a position to make a more enlightened view.
*any posts theorising the girl 'attention-seeking' or making false claim for some other reason - without any supporting facts it's completely unfair to be making that sort of character assessment. A DV allegation is a serious claim and there's no business in dismissing it until the facts arise to counter it.

Make it seem worse?

Punching her in the jaw , striking her with a belt, punching her in the face again a few times is not enough?

No need to deflect Bruce, or engage in dopey name calling over a randomly chose username. It reads kinda sad

Why did you make up the bit about him hunting her down in her hotel room?

Should I just put it down to racism?

Wow, throwing the racist card out there while fabricating what i said and making it into something monstrous. Classic Bruce.

Why do you keep defending his actions by twisting and turning and trying to shade what he did?

I want you to focus on what he did
He punched her in the jaw
He struck her with is belt
He punched her in the face several times again

Why are you trying so hard to avoid THAT conversation?

Prolly a good IDEA that we all avoid THAT conversation.

But Dear are you OK?
Can we /anyone, help in any way?
Please ask! Someone (else) not BfB!

Avoidance of THAT conversation is why these things keep happening

Open dialogue can only help

"Elijah had to go once he went looking for the ex GF and found her at a Hotel where he assaulted her."

Your words.

I've said my piece on Elijah. I won't be subscribing to the latest version of the Nicene Creed.

My comments in this particular exchange have been entirely directed to your making up of circumstances leading to the incident.

It wasn't necessary. What he did was bad enough, despite the vaguely mitigating circumstances.

But still you made shit up. Prior intent is a major aggravating feature in a crime. It isn't a feature in this particular crime.

Why did you make it up?

EJ's lawyer with a parting shot.
Pretty bad run for the young guy. Hope he gets his life back together.

Just what sort of assistance and welfare were we meant to administer?

The WA border was shut ffs. Fly someone over here, let them sit in a hotel for 2 weeks, then go and check on him?

My client wishes to plead guilty to bashing his girlfriend, but the blame lies with his employer.

Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we cop a trade ban out of this.

At the time I thought it was a mutual agreement that he spend time with his family in Perth rather than continue to travel in the hub with the rest of the team.

In hindsight maybe the club should have taken him to the Queensland hub. Or directed him to stay away from his ex-girlfriend if he remained in Perth. But I don't think they would have forseen what was going to happen if they left him in Perth.

Why did you make it up?

Why are you trying to take the spotlight away from Elijah's actions?

Did my comment make any difference to the actions that Elijah had already done? Were my comments taken into account in court?

No, my comment was irrelevant, but you choose to focus on that because, as you like to do, you have an agenda and you want to pursue it. It is nothing more than deflection on your part to further your agenda.

Given that you attempted to shine the spotlight and blame the GF by claiming "he woke to her belting him" and then again "despite the vaguely mitigating circumstances"
It's an attempt at smearing the ex-gf and creating some doubt as to whether Elijah's actions were justified or not.

It's obvious you are trying some shady victim blaming and smear

What Taylor's lawyer says is going to be biased towards his client and should be taken with a grain of salt.

It does kind of sound like the lawyer is gearing up for a case against Sydney as an employer , or attempting to lay the blame squarely at Sydney's feet for creating the mess

I would expect that when ET and the Swans "parted ways" a sum of money was paid to ET and ET in turn signed a release agreement. Therefore I doubt there is any case to prosecute.

I've said my piece on the offence and the appropriateness of the penalty.

Why did you lie?

Why did you lie?

I didn't lie, i made a wrong assumption. Did my incorrect assumption change the actions or outcome for Elijah in any way? No it didnt, and yet you keep hammering on about it using increasingly emotive language

Your immature bullying attempts to shut down debate on the core issue reflects poorly on you, and I sincerely hope you can reflect on yourself and come to see that cases like this aren't about blaming the victim or attempting to cast doubt.

This is the media thread ffs

Correct, the Swans, AFL and AFLPA have done this by the book. There will be absolutely no recourse from EJ for a further payment.

Anything his lawyer said after the hearing was purely for public record and messaging to any potential future employer.

No. You lied. None of the details you "assumed" have been suggested in any of the reports. You made it up to add to the severity of the crime.

As it happens, I deal with cases like this daily. I also deal with the equally tragic fallout for those falsely accused. And there are plenty.

So I am well acquainted with the very real consequences of alleging aggravating features to a crime that aren't present.

I don't get to live in your comfortable world of moral absolutes. I deal with real people. With real vulnerabilities. And I know there's a hell of a lot more grey than there is black and white.

So how about you shove your self reflection and your moral absolutism. And pass that on to your Uni lecturer as well.

I'd like to thank the mods for closing the Taylor thread. What a complete fu**up! Now I have to put up with the sh*t in all these other threads
No, no you don't... thanks so much for using all the tools at your disposal to flag it too.

No tag. No report. No PM.

You think we just forgo our lives to read every single post do you?
