All that matters is where he disposed of the ball as far as I'm aware. My issue is that he was outside the nine and ran in, if I understand correctly, that is deliberate.

It looks like Cameron was in the vicinity and another player I thought was closing for the tackle.I had a good angle of that play and you are correct. Maybe a little bit back from middle of square
The reason all Lions players and the crowd seeing from a good angle enthusiastically appealed was the Tigers player was not under any pressure
That is how it appeared from my angle. No Lions player close enough applying pressure
The angle i saw from TV later that night was looking more from the center of the ground.
Possible where central umpire was viewing. Not sure where the 3rd umpire was
At that angle one Lions player may have appeared to be closer than what he actually was
So glad we won without that being called
Just imaging todays media if that was awarded a free, added to the Lynch goal overturn
I have had the TV on all morning and all they are talking about is the ARC overruling the goal umpire decision
Other decisions that umpires & players made during that game could have changed the end result many times
What a game and what a good result
Call them what you will, watch the last 2 minutes to see what I mean.Matho had 0 clearances and 0 tackles last night

I thought the interpretations of HTB were vastly different for both teams. We should have had a lot more IMO. The Bolton example being the biggest one. We were called far quicker. All the carry on by my Tigers mates about frees winning it second half.
Half time 16-7
Full time 22-18.. so second half 6 frees to 11
Tigers had a good run from the umps in the second half like they did a few weeks ago at the G
Seeing as a team they play the man more like 22 Mitch Robbos they always loose free count
Whaat, a post without Lester's name mentioned. You couldn't even find a spot for Lester to come in next week. What's wrong with you? Are you OK? I'm concerned.Just finished watching the game. Mrs3KZ bought Theatre tickets so it was off to the Arts Centre in St.Kilda rd. Recorded the footy, turned off my phone (stacks of texts backed up) and watched the game. What a win! I. Imagine there were melts a plenty and brain explosions all round in the match thread, but in the end I think we will bank this win. Neale was stunning, Bailey played a blinder, Dev played an unreal shut down game and then bobbed up for a goal, Mathieson was a machine in tight in the last quarter, forwards fired Daniher was his mercurial best, Charlie deadly and Eric was dangerous, Berry was brilliant, Prior keeps his spot, as should Ah Chee. Starcevich was solid and Coleman stepped up.
Richmond were in great form coming into the game and Lynch was one of the top forwards coming into this game. Last night just highlights when there's pressure on the midfield it makes our defenders job a lot easier. Thought Andrews-Lynch battle was even in the end, would have been in Lynch's favour if that last behind was a goal.
Thought we were the better team around the contest for most of the night. Mcstay, Dev, Mcluggage and Neale's hands in tight were amazing.
Another shocker was Lynch (I think) kicking the ball to the boundary into the forward line. There were no players within 30m of where he kicked it and it was straight at the boundary, but nope throw in. Any where else but the forward line and that is insuffient intent 99/100yes plenty of highs against us that didnt go. I even thought there were some rough calls against us for delierate over the boundary in the 1st quarter which gave them set shots, but when there was a reverse opportunity when the Richmond player visibly hand balled the ball into the goal was not called.
Rich one I think was fair, but also those are rarely called, and the fact the umpires completely put their whistle away at times I felt it was a rough call given stage of the game and its residual impact.
Hahaha yes there was a few comments and crying laughter over the ironyWas there any mention in the match thread when Oscar went down that we should've had Fort as the sub like we did in the last Richmond game?
No because McStay killed it in the ruckWas there any mention in the match thread when Oscar went down that we should've had Fort as the sub like we did in the last Richmond game?
Yeah that works.Possessions?
Watching the replay of the last two minutes - After the Daniher goal with a minute left, Matho bumped Cotchin over and then gets the clearance forward out of the square. Pretty influential.Matho had 0 clearances and 0 tackles last night
I thought we functioned better as a smaller team.
If Oscar comes back in, I think we should drop Gardiner and swing McStay to the backline.
Uncanny, that's exactly what it reminded me of too.I have a thought about McStay’s game. It reminded me of the USS Johnston(e) (2nd WW Philippines) whose captain had told all his crew he was a captain that would go where angels fear to tread. He was not going to avoid danger he was going to court it.
The Japanese had lured the American fleet away from 6 junior carriers and a whole lot of transport and left them nearly defensless against a Jap battleship and associated task force emerging unexpected.
The Johnston realising that it was hopeless never the less charged the Japanese delaying and discouraging them enough they buggered off.
A magnificent victory but the Johnstone was sunk and most lost.
The Tigers have buggered off and some think Dan has been lost. I reckon he is hanging out to screw a few more dollars
Yes what controversy? The umpire thought it was a goal but wasn’t sure and asked for a review. The ARC showed clearly it was a point. Isn’t that how the system is supposed to work?Makes you wonder if Hardwick knows how the ARC locates the ball before going off half-cocked.
The ARC doesn't use three random angles to make their decision. The angles they showed were front on, then 45 degrees to the post to each side. If the ball is in the same position relative over the post in all three, then the ball couldn't have been anywhere but over the post.
A lot of the media will complain without actually looking into how the ARC came to their decision. Wonder if Ralphy has cleared his tears yet.
