Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Buddy was well within his rite to run with that ball as not many could catch him and he knew it.

Having said that, the best part of any game is when you get to yell 'ball' at a crucial moment like that.

I loved it.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

I think Buddy has a case to answer of being the most over rated protected player in the league. Made my day to see him run down not once but twice yesterday.

overrated?? each to their own i guess, but there would only be 3-4 players in the league i would think about taking ahead of him. and after thinking about it, i would still have buddy ahead of all of them (hodge or brown the closest).
protected?? ablett, selwood, judd and riewoldt lead that category.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

why would we care if he does have anything to answer for, not like he's going to be outed for all the finals, and, yes, he is the best non Geelong player out there, thge whole package. Unfortunately

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

I'm sorry but you obviously haven't been watching Mooney in the last couple of years he reguarly gets in opponents faces after kicking goals.

Mooney has never done what Lewis did yesterday.
Throughout our run of success i've seen one Geelong player (not Mooney) resort to the classless, moronic antics Lewis exhibited yesterday and i was horribly disappointed with it at the time, as was his captain.

Wondering how you viewed Selwoods blatant dive with about a minute left in the game?

I haven't seen it.
I was actually focusing on the upcoming ruck contest, didn't even know Joel had hit the deck and only found out about it when i watched the replay after getting home last night.

Given you likely weren't at the ground due to your location and the fact the replay didn't shed any light on the incident i'd like to know how you managed to reach the strong conclusion that it was a 'blatant dive'.

Thought the game was played with aggressive respect throughout the day, just as footy is meant to be played.

It was, apart from the Lewis incident in which he showed absolutely no respect for his opponent.
All it showed was his distinct lack of class, humility and maturity.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Jordan Lewis has no respect! I was shocked when I saw that bit of footage not the kind of player I would want on my team...and thank god he isnt. A real disgrace

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Does anyone know what happened to Selwood when Ablett was standing beside him to protect him from two Hawks while he was down on all fours behind the ball? It was right in front of me, but I was following the ball and didn't see what happened.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

At the time I thought he was in big trouble given his record and all.... but i was sitting at the other end of the ground behind the goals and going from the reply on the scoreboard...
when i got home and watched it again it didn't look as bad and looked like he made contact with the shoulder 1st and slid up.... So I think he would be stiff to go...

That being said.. its the MRP.. No one has a clue what on earth they are going to come up at any given time and with buddys record he should know better than to try and bump blokes as it keeps bringing him undone, if he had tried a lunging tackle there would be absolutely nothing in it.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

It was reckless. Didn't need to be attempting to tackle his neck! Looked like he was trying to clothesline him.

I'd say it would be usually be a reprimand but he may get a week because of his bad record.

I am more worried about Enright!

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

While I don't necessarily think Franklin should get cited, if he had any intention of tackling then he would have gone under Lonergan's out-stretched arm. Fact is it was a cheap shot because he was beaten in this instance, and Cats correctly received a free kick. Franklin always has a shove and carry-on with a defender who clears the ball from him, this one was unnecessarily high.

If he does get cited, at last Hawthorn and their fans can't use the excuse that Franklin is tall and can't help it if he makes high hits - Lonergan stands 1cm taller!

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Franklin has nothing to worry about. Enright will get done (unfortunately for my DT) - he blatantly smashed Lewis from behind in the head. Was clearly frustrated that Lewis was owning him.

Ummm..how do I put this?

**** off!

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Bit touchy on the Lewis v Boris aren't we? It was gamesmanship, getting in your opponents head and it seemed to work, Enright had his worst game of the year. Still think verballing and legend of the game after the siren shows a much greater lack of class and humility.

Re: Does Franklin have a Case to Answer?

Who the hell is the 'legend of the game' that Enright was talking to. Barassi, Jezza, Ablett?
Get over it Hawthorn , you lost. Some of your supporters didn't seem to understand that, yes I know some are ok, but the woman with her two small children who told us to stick it up our A*****, making the kids look pretty frightened wasn't one of them Nor the bloke who decided because we were happily talking amongst ourselves that he hated Geelong supporters.

So it's alright for that legend of the game to verbally get stuck into Bartel for his father walking out on the family, which Scarlo got wind of and had a go at this legend during the game, but when Scarlo comes up to him after the game and says something along the lines of "No hard feelings mate?" and offers to shake his hand, to which this legend dirtied up at, supposedly lacks class and humility?

Gee, you Hawks fans are delusional. I guess you'll be telling us Rioli doesn't duck into tackles next.

Wasn't talking about the verballing. I was referring to the weak gutless whack in the guts while Enright was on his knees and had his back to him. All class is Lewis.

Of course it's not alright, but 2 wrongs don't make a right. I don't know what exactly was said as I wasn't part of the conversation like you, but the footage doesn't seem to match your story. I've witnessed Scarlett tell Franklin about it when's he's got on top and tap him on the arse, is that morally different to Lewis somehow?

Gee, you Hawks fans are delusional. I guess you'll be telling us Rioli doesn't duck into tackles next.

Yeah we're delusional while you's keep claiming you haven't had one player lack class or humility once in half a decade.

So interesting that the MRP agreed with you completely about the 'smashing' - to the point where the 'incident' wasn't even mentioned in their review of the weekend's matches.

The only person who would bother to make such a lamentable statement as the one bolded here is the same person who had the 'talent' to scream in Boris' face as he proclaimed himself a footy legend after kicking what proved to be an insignificant goal early in the game on Saturday.

Welcome to the Geelong board, Jordy...

Can't imagine how good it must have felt to get on here and talk yourself up in the aftermath of the Hawks being 'owned' (your word) again by the Cats.:thumbsu:

Here: The incident is from about the 3:00 mark. I think you'll find there is no whack to the guts and the whole thing isn't neally as bad as you're making out.
