The advantage of doing it now is they can now trade those 2nd round pick.

Either to bring in interesting fringe young talents ie McGuinness rumours

Or trade for some filler points + future a future 2nd and load up on 2nds next season for a points matching trade up opportunity.

Could probably have gotten a better deal waiting but also this is a pretty good outcome

trading back in will cost more than just 1 1st rounder to get a pick around 15/16

Pick #13 will be gone by the time trade period is over
The only team i see as an option would be sydney with #22 or Richmonds 1st pick on the 2nd day

And have it cost an extra 600 points if it’s at pick 5.

So essentially got 2 firsts and a 2nd for pick 9 if Kako falls past the saints.

Plus whatever we ontrade pick 28 ect for when we trade it down for points either later this week or draft day.

Well played Dees. Put the fire under the Dons rookie List Manager's feet about bidding on Kako and he has completely folded and given you 9 in a Super Draft.

The Great Man Adrian would never fall for such a trick.

Yep - Hawks in 2024, GWS in 2023 and the Pies in 2022. All got the bottom 6 bounce into finals.

The Pies one really is so misinformed.. sure, a down year but had played finals multiple
Years prior and a fair chunk of that grand final losing side still on the list.

Pretty clear Dees advised them when actually they had no intentions of bidding. As if they would risk having Kako over and of the top 5 ranked players - especially when a small quick forward is the very last thing they need.

Sensitive? I'm merely laughing at you and the Carlton nuffie because you construe any trade we do as an automatic loss.

A 0% chance we get this kind of haul on draft night if we waited. For what will be a pick in the 40's next year.

Every time a player isnt in the reach in the draft their worth seems to drift away from reality. Just like how so many people have convinced themselves Levi isnt the pick 1

Dude they spent most of last year playing Jake Melksham. A small forward who kicks goals is a huge list need.

Yeah, probably. In the situation where we finish last and you finish first (before bids, FA etc) the points total is still at a pick 25 mark. In our worst case scenario. In yours it could be much worse.

Now have enough points for Kako.

3 F1 next year and a top 5 player for junk picks this year.

Really good long term planning by Essendon. Extremely risky for Melbourne. They’ll need to hold Oliver and get him back to 90% of his top self or they are staring down the barrel of a bottom 6 finish again IMO
