But he might, it’s worth the risk. If it works out the coeteries can then white ant Brad, bring Hirdy back and then usher in the next 100yrs of Essendon supremacy.

With Essendon’s track record you probably hit 1 in 3 of those picks anyway. So the other two picks are a write off.

  • no one wants Hird back
  • we hit 1/3 picks?

Bombers need to get desperate and tip all in for Harley Reid.
Not sure he alone will fix the issues. Would rather take the picks to the draft and hope for the best. As it stands we have our 1st pick, could be a top 2 pick, Deed first rounder, our second rounder and Saints second rounder. Strong possibility we could have 4 picks inside 30, 2 of them potentially top 10.
With Dodo no longer there, hopefully we can get some talent through the door.

Not sure if your trolling but to put some perspective in

Imagine if your club had a list manager who should have been working the fries at McDonalds for the last 20 years anyone's track record would be poor when your not qualified to be a recruitment manager

Thankfully his been shown the door

Here at Essendon we are not interested in present day or future success.
We are comfortable just living in the past and celebrating previous eras of greatness.

Everything is fine.

Last Saturday at the footy I saw a fan wearing the jacket Martin is wearing above, so there is a market for it. But I get your point, I think the club is also obsessed with playing marquee home and away games above all else.

McGrath is in his 9th season and provides absolutely nothing. One of the worst #1 draft picks of all time.
I would be livid as a Bombers supporter.
That is slightly harsh. He is an okay player. But for a number one draft pick, people expected him to become a superstar, which clearly has not occurred. The big question is, who made the decision to take him pick one? In the lead up to the draft, McCluggage was seen as the likely number one pick. But someone at Essendon thought otherwise.

It will be something bomber nuffies want until the day he takes his last breath.

You only have to look at social media over the weekend to see that they’re already in the comments saying “ we need to get Hird back”

only sealioning idiots want Hird back. Most educated Essendon supporters are comfortable and accepted going to Hird would divide the football club again

Time to let it go mate, do yourself a favour. Only circle jerk from non Essendon people will be the response you get

What do the coteries want? It makes no sense to do it now, but once the rebuild has turned the corner...I won't be shocked to be sitting here if they bring him back

I agree, but they seem to run your club
apparently things are slowly being stopped.. if Scott doesn't bring any on field success, if he can deny those idiots control on top of having Dodoro removed then his tenure as coach is a success in my opinion

If Essendon are now rebuilding, what do you do with Merrett? He won’t be there when they go back up. Should punt him for a first rounder.

If you want to maintain any semblance of dignity and status as a club you have to hold onto him.

Good clubs don’t ditch their captains and legends for draft picks.

the full demolition rebuilds are out of favor anyway as you need senior players to teach the younger players and absorb physical pressure

I don’t believe that for a second.

It's sad Dodoro is no longer there. When you think if Essendon, you think of Dodoro.

Terrible way they've treated their longest serving clubman.

Aside from the obvious, its the main thing Essendon and Carlton have in common. Dodoro and SOS.
