Cheat schmeat.... if the boys in our accounts department are "creative" enuff to get away with these things, then i'm all for it.... If we were/have/are paying players above the sallary cap and get caught, we deserve to have the book thrown at us...until that happens, y'all R just gonna have to put up with arrogant Essendon supporters:D

BUT....I'll just add that any club that roarts the system after what happened to Carlton should have their a$$ well and truly kicked...

That is straight from the Sunday Times newspaper and those quotes are from REAL people at the AFL who have positions of order.

But this is not Carlton. "The Carlton issue was systematic rorting of the highest order, something we haven't seen before. This is nothing like that.

I wanna ask ALL other clubs' supporters something... IF your club had found a loophole, used and abused it, won a premiership, and had 2-3 pretty damn good years near the top of the competition, would you REALLY give 2 ****es about the opposition supporters crying foul????

Me thinks not....

And whats wonrg with that we had permission, sound legal advive and payed less than what the AFL offered Hird and Lloyd.

Essendon should be able to run an Independet website and pay its players to write artices, etc.

The AFl wants Essedon to have an AFL telstra run website, so they'll try and destroy the one we have.

By not allowing us to run it, they can offer Hird and co money for their servives (domain name writing articles etc) but we can't?

Yes we did! We paid them for domain names... and we paid them LESS than they had been offered elsewhere!!!!! Are you implying... no sorry. Are you STUPID enough to be implying that a domain name carries no value???? what is www.afl.com.au worth?Do you think they would take 50 bucks!

Essendon bought domain names off their players... the true rights to them... to ensure that they keep it in the family. They don't want domain names out there to be abused. Take for example many hollywood actors/actresses domain names which point to "BUY free web space" or "CHEAP Viagra". Do you think that the Essendon brand could afford for www.jameshird.com.au to go to "CHEAP CONDOMS ONLINE".

..... just think for a moment, think at a corporate level if your brain wont explode. Someone above mentioned the word RORT. I cant beleive the stupidity of this thread. There are facts out there.

I'd do anything for a premiership, but cheating would make it somewhat hollow.

Essendon bought two domain names off their star players for 50k each. Thats $100,000 dollars for those hard of math. They bought them for below market value in a legitimate transaction. Nothing was hidden. There was no briefcase full of cash.

Sydney is awarded $1,000,000 extra cash per year in their total player payments schedule.

Brisbane is awarded $500,000 extra cash per year in their total player payments schedule.

So who is cheating?

You are spot on about Sydney and Brisbane. But much like Essendon, the AFL turn a blind eye.

I hate Carlton, but they got royally screwed for doing what Essendon and Melbourne did and virtually got away with.
