Essendon are bad.

Just got back from Morwell, and i would have laughed at Richmond if they didn't beat us by at least 50 points.

Essendon players that did not play in the match:

Lloyd
Hird
Fletcher
McPhee
Jason Johnson
Mark Johnson
Rioli
Lucas
Soloman
Ramanauskas
Peverill
Hille
McVeigh
Welsh
Bolton

Each being regular senior players.

If we had lost and had a similar side, in terms of senior players as Richmond did, there'd be cause for concern. Sheedy i guess wanted to test the young players that'll be pushing for the remaining 7 spots in the senior team.

Today i was again impressed with Thomas and Stanton.

10 goal losses at any time is a worry. Feel free to keep ignoring the signs tho :D

Not worried at all.

I know our kids aren't good enough to be a force this year. However I do know that we are a better side then Richmond at half strength, let alone full strength.

Most VFL teams would have beaten what we put out there today.

It looks like Essendon proved us all wrong today. Close the thread, it no longer has any merit..................................is what I would've said if Essendon didn't get absolutely BELTED!!. Get ready for another long week Essendon.

BUMP!!!!!! :D

the response to this thread suggests that I'm not alone in doubting the bummers capacity to survive without their aging guns. It would be a pity to close it now!
Tyres on the wheelchair pumped up again son ? The carer has let you near the `puter again ? still avoiding collingwood ? back to back g.f losses and then a giant slide down the ladder ? no comment ? Love it.

As if really needed an answer to the question re. Essendon's depth, it was again answered, this time the 16th team beating them by over 10 goals. And this weeks excuse is......? The similarities between this year's Essendon and last year's Collingwood are getting more obvious as the days go by. :)

Just a question.......if you took Fevola, Stevens, Campo, Kouta, Whitnall, Thorton, Scotland, Houlihan, Lappin, Sporn, Teague, Waite and French out of the Carlton side how do you think you would go?

Just a question.... Do Essendon think they are so good that they can play an entire season by resting 18 players and not giving them a pre season at all? No? Didnt think so.... unles of course the majority of your side are grandpa's. You can only make excuses for so long.

Sheedy is resting a lot of the seniors and is giving heaps of our youngsters some game time which this time of the year is good because we're only playing practise matches. That's not an excuse, it's a fact. When round 1 comes we'll have our best players on the field so make judgement on our team then not on a friggin trial match. All you people baggin Essendon get that through your thick heads! :D

Entertaining though, watching them struggle with a few little realities. Essendon's efforts today provided us with some more laughs. The excuses are just icing :)

You're the one struggling to deal with reality. No club in the competition could compete against another full strength side with 16-18 players out.

We aren't proud that we got smashed. And I'm sure Sheedy has reinforced the fact that it isn't good enough. But at the end of the day it's only February and we have four weeks to get it right.

And you're still dodging questions.

Essendon would want to win at least 1 practice match or atleast have a full squad in 1 game or else they will go into the season unbalanced and underdone.
can't argue that. would be nice to win one!

So your No 1 side is commencing their pre-season only 3 weeks before the start of the season? when most have been at it since December. Yup... Essendon are in for a long season.
